We'll step back in time and learn the history of many of the railway's static displays and the railroad line their current excursion trains run on. The guided tour will take us in areas not permissible to the general public, plus you learn much more about the area and museum's railroad heritage from one of the museum's expert volunteer docents - one of which is our very own Bill Huston, RM After our behind-the-scenes tour, we'll visit the Museum's collection of railroad artifacts and memorabilia, all housed in a replica of the original New Haven Depot. Exhibits include: steam locomotive whistles, a large HO scale model layout, uniforms of railroad trades, plus much more. For your safety and comfort, closed toe shoes are required. 3 After lunch, we'll travel about 30 minutes to Maker's Mark Distillery, a National Historic Landmark located in Loretto, KY. Even if you are not a fan of bourbon, you'll love the history and beautiful scenery at and near the distillery. During the tour we'll learn why water, wheat, wood and wax are the essential elements used in crafting the ever famous Maker's Mark bourbon. We'll tour the bottling house, rickhouses, dump tanks, still house and the Spirit of the Maker barrel room. Not to be missed is a stunning canopy filled with Dale Chihuly blown glass. At the end of the tour, you'll have the opportunity to taste Maker's Mark bourbon and after purchasing, dip your own bottle in their signature red wax! Be sure to bring a valid picture I.D. for proof of your age. We also pass through two Thoroughbred horse farms where we may see mares and foals in the fields. The train then descends through deep limestone cuts to the palisades of the Kentucky River where you'll have the opportunity to disembark and photograph Young's High Bridge built in In the distance you can see the Wild Turkey Distillery. Upon your return, you can visit the collection of railroadiana and memorabilia in the museum. Before taking a scenic drive past some of the most fabulous horse farms in the country and Woodford Reserve Distillery, we'll visit Nostalgia Station Toy Museum to see a life long collection of Wanda and Winfrey Adkins. Winfrey says he fell in love with model railroading when 12 February 2019

4 he was just two years old when his dad bought him his first set - an American Flyer. Growing up, Winfrey used the money he made from mowing lawns to purchase trains. He had a building in his parent's backyard he called his "Train Room". In it, he had a layout and all of his trains that he would show off to anyone willing to come out and look. Move forward many years later...his collection (primarily Lionel) got too big, but he and Wanda still wanted to share their trains with everyone so they moved everything into the 1,600 square foot 1910 Louisville & Nashville Passenger Depot in Versailles. Wanda and Winfrey look forward to sharing their collection and stories of how they accumulated whichever piece strikes your fancy! Lunch will be a hearty buffet of pulled pork, chicken breast, baked beans, coleslaw, rolls and a drink. Get Acquainted Party: Riverboat Dinner Cruise (McAlpine Locks) Wednesday, July 10 - Time: 5:15 p.m. 9:45 p.m. Adults: $65.00, Children: $50.00 The LOTS 2019 Get Acquainted Party will take place aboard the Mary M. We'll be heading downriver through McAlpine Tour #4: Churchill Downs, Louisville Slugger Museum, Union Station and Old Forester Distillery Thursday, July 11 - Time: 6:45 a.m. 6:00 p.m. Adults: $115.00, Children: $90.00 Today s adventure begins by experiencing the authenticity of the backside of Churchill Downs race track during a rail side breakfast in the Track Kitchen There's no experience quite like a once-in-a-lifetime chance to spend a morning on a private backside tour at Churchill Downs Racetrack. Attendees will get a behind the scenes view of Thoroughbred racing at the "World's Most Legendary Racetrack. We'll enjoy breakfast in the Horsemen s Track Kitchen, see the horses training rail side, catch them during a bath and learn about life at the track. Be sure to bring your cameras because on any given day of training, visitors will get an up close and personal view of the horses, jockeys, trainers, and other Lock. A narrator will be on board to explain the history of the lock and what's happening when we go through. As we leave the lock, we'll take a short trip further downriver before turning around and coming back through to return to our landing. What a magnificent river experience - a trip through McAlpine Lock with informative narration sharing river history, lock operation, and the boat's history! A buffet dinner of pot roast and roasted turkey breast accompanied by garden salad, mashed potatoes, rice pilaf, green beans, vegetable medley and assorted pies for dessert. A cash bar will also be available. connections who live the sport of horseracing! This tour is exclusive to groups visiting the Kentucky Derby Museum and not available to the general public. Breakfast includes scrambled eggs, bacon or sausage, biscuits and gravy, Grits with milk, juice, coffee and tea. A short distance from the Trackside Kitchen is the Kentucky Derby Museum. We'll will walk through the property to the paddock and out to the grandstand learning trivia and fun facts along the way. After learning some trackside lingo, we'll experience "The Greatest Race" a thrilling sound and visual multi media presentations that will send your heart racing and emotions soaring! The presentation is projected on a larger-than-life 360 degree 4k high resolution theater! Prior to departing, time will be given to explore two floors of exhibits and the gift shop. The next stop for today's tour is Louisville's Union Station. Construction of the station began in 1880, but completion was delayed until 1891 due to rising costs totaling $310,000. Local Kentuckian contractors constructed all but the clock tower. As a Union Station, it served the L&N, Monon, the PRR and others. Union 13 February 2019

5 Station provided the entrance to Louisville for many visitors. At its height in the 1920s it served 58 trains a day. Pullman cars were used allowing for overnight Derby attendees. Amtrak used the facility regularly until In 1979, L&N sold Union Station to Transit Authority of River City (TARC) - Louisville's public transportation service, who spent 2 million dollars to restore it. A boxed lunch will be served alongside one of the last remaining mule-drawn trolley cars operated by the Louisville Railway Company. Next up, or should we say "batter up?" is to the Louisville Slugger Museum and Factory. You don't have to be a baseball fan to want to visit! We'll take a guided tour where Louisville Slugger bats have been made since Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory celebrates the extraordinary role Louisville Slugger baseball bats have played in the sport's past, present, and future. From the forest to the field, you'll follow the timber that's turned into hard hitting history. Along with the fascinating bat factory tour, there are galleries filled with remarkable memorabilia and entertaining interactive exhibits. They won t make you kiss a bat like the baseball greats did in the past, but you might just want to by the time we leave! The final stop on today's tour is just up Whiskey Row (Main Street) to Old Forester Distillery. Old Forester is back to the place where they started. This distillery is located in the original location Old Forester began in 1870 and features not just the distillery process and tasting, but a cooperage tour too. No other distillery tour includes the making and charring of the oak barrels used in the process of making a fine bourbon. A guided tour will be offered along with a tasting session at the end of the tour. Be sure to try the Old Forester 1910 (double barrel aged), Larry and I found OF 1910 to be the best of all the bourbons we sampled! Be sure to bring a valid picture I.D. for proof of your age. Louisville Bats vs Toledo Mud Hens Thursday, July 11 - Time: 7:00 p.m. Adults/Children: $20.00 Join fellow LOTS members for a AAA Baseball Game Outing.
