2 FROM THE DIREC- TORS Thanksgiving time. What a great time to give thanks for all our blessings, friends and family! It certainly has been a blessed year for us. We had a great time with Don and Helen Woodard and several of our chapter members in Mountain View, AR at Beanfest this year. Our campaign got rained out the last day; but, all in all, it was very lucrative. One never knows what Got has in store as we are journeying through life; and having the opportunity to attend a church Revival was the icing on the cake. It was awesome! Now it s time to start our Chapter Christmas parties. What a time for fun and fellowship. It s getting close to ending this great year of 2015, and we re looking forward to a great Til next time, be thinking of our Rally Come help us celebrate our 45 years of Samborees/Rallys and still going!!! SPA CITY SAMS Our November 2015 meeting was held at Home Plate Café in Jessieville, AR. Twelve members, 5 prospective members, and 2 guests were present. Everyone had a wonderful meal, then we held our business meeting for November. UPCOMING CAMPOUTS & MEETINGS The next Spa City Sams chapter meeting will be our Meet & Eat Christmas Party December 10 at 11:00 AM at Smokin - In-Style in Hot Springs. We hope to see everyone there. After our meal, we will hold our business meeting, induct our 2016 officers and play Dirty Santa. Don t forget to bring a gift for each person playing, not to exceed $10 value Officers: Doug Tinkle, President; Linda Dale, V-P; Don Dale, Wagonmaster; Kay Shearer, Treasurer; and Heelen Tinkle, Secretary Area 6 Friendship: September 6-9 (date change) We could not find another RV Park that could handle 50 + rigs. So we will be at River Park North Little Rock again next year. You will call the par k instead of me. That way Sheila will make sure you get the spot that you need to be in. We had a lot of conflict on the dates. It is a first call basis; the one who calls first gets the best spot. That includes the river. The ones that want a River site need to call and make their reservations. The phone number is We are starting to plan it now. Hope to see everyone there. The menu has not been set, neither has the events. Girtie VanHoveln Area 6 ASD AREA FRIENDSHIP CAMPOUT SEPTEMBER (note date change) God bless you, Bill and Dee Nery. Well done, thou good and faithful servant... Enter thou into the joy of thy Lord. Matthew 25: 21 As always Cedar Oaks RV Park in Grove, OK does NOT require reservations. However, they have asked that if you plan to arrive early (before the 22nd) please give them a call at Other chapters are always welcome, and we encourage other Area ASD s to consider our Friendship when putting together your 2016 calendar. The Park is on Grand Lake and there s always plenty of sites. Page 2 Arkansam News 2015

3 Paulette s Palette During the Christmas season and the coming New Year: May you be filled with the wonder of Mary, the obedience of Joseph, the joy of the angels, the eagerness of the shepherds, the determination of the Magi, and the Peace of the Christ Child. Thanks to all Secretaries and Presidents for your timeliness in sending your chapter dues to Ann Scott and your roster changes to me. It s sad that we have had so many Good Sam members leave this life for the Peace we pray they have found. It is beautiful to learn of the many new members joining Arkansas Good Sam chapters. And it s exciting when new members become aware of the magnitude of this new circle of friends they have become a part of. Friendship Campouts in 2016 present the perfect opportunity to expand friendships, renew old ones, and enjoy the benefits of becoming involved with Good Sammers. When your chapter is planning the camping schedule for the coming year, why not include at least one Area Friendship? You ll be so glad you did! Don t forget that Volunteeer Hours are due to me, the AR State Secretary, the first week of January. You don t need to include your Park Hosting hours as Roger Robbins, Park Host Coordinator, has figured those for you that were performed at Bull Shoals, Petit Jean and Lake Catherine State Parks. Be sure to include mileage and monies also. Church activities are ineligible for inclusion but all other volunteer activities pretty much are! Please continue to send your newsletter articles to P O Box 54 in Britt, IA or send me an with your article as the body of the (redhead.smith2002@gmail.com). If you use this box, your snail mail will reach me much more efficiently. If I can help in any way, call me at Deadline each month is the 25th. Paulette FROM THE PARK HOST COORDINATOR: As we close out 2015, it has been a great year for all of our Arkansas Good Sams Park Hosts. I want to thank everyone that volunteered and park hosted at our great Arkansas State Parks. As Linda and I have traveled throughout the United States and Canada, we appreciate more and more our Arkansas State Parks System. Arkansas State Parks are some of the best in North America, and our volunteer park hosting helps save the park system money therefore putting money back into the parks system for upgrades which we all enjoy. We plan to have the 2016 Park Host Schedule listed in the January newsletter so that everyone can plan their schedules. We have tried to keep everyone on the same schedule as previous years unless the host has requested otherwise. If for some reason you can t make the schedule, please let me know as soon as possible so that we can make the necessary changes. We are looking forward to a great year in Let s all camp as much as possible and enjoy our great State Parks. Looking forward to our State Rally in April 2016, and we hope to not only see you there but also to get to visit with you. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, Roger Robbins ARGS Park Host Coordinator or amroadrider@yahoo.com ARKANSAS ROADRUNNERS The Roadrunners had a lunch meeting Nov. 3 at the Rib Crib in Branson, MO. Eleven members, 2 past members and 2 guests were in attendance. Election of officers was held and dues were collected with a new member voted in. Discussion was held on when and where to camp in 2016 providing that we all stay healthy and can keep our rigs. Volunteers signed up for food to be brought to the Christmas party potluck that will be held at the Myers home on Dec 15 at 1:00pm. 4 WHISPERING PINES TRAVELERS The meeting was called to order at 10:30 AM at Cane Creek State Park. President Tom VanHoveln led us in the Pledge of Allegiance. There were 14 rigs represented with one visitor. Motion was made and seconded to dispense with the reading of minutes. Treasurer s report was read and accepted. The old business we discussed was wearing the badges at the meeting. We had passed it in July to wear our badges to the meeting or pay 50 cents. As there was only 1 couple that wore their badge we collected some money. We will be having a meeting at the Christmas party. In August Richard appointed a committee of Bill Wortham, Ruby Wortham and Phyllis Plunk to redo our guidelines for our chapter. They came back with standers for becoming a chapter member. Everyone read the standards for becoming a chapter member, and they were approved. This is for the Whispering Pines Travelers chapter only. We will be following the National Constitution and By- Laws and State Good Sams Standard Operating Procedures (SOP). This will be on the last page of our individual chapter newsletter. Donna gave a report on Christmas at Cheryl s Diner December 18 at 6:00 pm with dinner served at 6:30. The dates and places will be handed out at Christmas party. All these places will need to be called ASAP. The Friendship is September 6-9, leaving on the 9 th at the Riverside RV Park in North Little Rock. 6 DORCHEAT SAMS Our October campout was at Poverty Point in Delhi, LA. We had 4 rigs present. This camp area is such a nice place with the lake nearby, and down the highway is the Poverty Point historical site. The museum with all the artifacts and the film showing what actually took place there is a real hidden gem. The site has now been dedicated as a historic monument and World Heritage Site. We voted on our campouts for 2016 and will have our annual Christmas party on Dec. 10th at 11:30am at Bayou Inn in Dixie Inn. Everyone is invited to come! Our November campout was at Lake Claiborne State Park with 3 rigs present. We met on Tuesday at Homer Seafood for lunch. Joining the group was Lois and Otto and Mary Beth and Bobby. It was so good to see these couples who have not been able to camp with us because of health issues. We certainly all had a great time. On Wednesday we had a surprise birthday party for Marie Elmore. Her daughter Dana brought down lunch with a cake and Pat and Judy added to the goodies. We need to encourage more of these birthdays! All during the week we sat around the campfire. We thank Steve, Marie s son, for getting the firewood for us. Please remember next month s meal together. Judy Carter, Secretary DERRICK CITY SAMS Derrick City Sams had their last campout for the year at DeGray State Park, nestled among the tall pines of the Ouachita Mountains on the shore of DeGray Lake. Meeting was called to order at 3:30 pm, Thursday, October 29 by President Marilyn Hartsfield. Opening prayer Marilyn Hartsfield. Roll call by Vona Smith realized 7 rigs present. Minutes from the last meeting were read by Vona Smith and approved as read. Treasurer s report was read by Vona Smith and approved as read. Wagonmaster Bennie Langheld reported that the next campout will be a meet & greet at Kozy Kitchen in El Dorado on Friday December 4 at 11:00 am. It will be a buffet lunch. Hope to see everyone there. Marilyn Hartsfield thanked camp hosts Randy & Sharon Gibbons for a job well done. Every morning Sharon had coffee ready. Randy had a nice fire going all day. They had lots of Fall snacks out at all times: a pumpkin bowl of candy corn with peanuts, a bucket of roasted peanuts, trash (snack), mini moon pies and a Halloween bowl of mixed candy. As you see we had plenty to eat. Wednesday the Gibbons furnished buns & meat for grilled burgers. Everyone else furnished all the fixings. Sharon & Butch Kee did the cooking. Thursday morning the Gibbons planned for us to have a breakfast buffet at the DeGray Lodge. It was oh, sooo good! After breakfast Vona called Bingo and we had lots fun with that. Marilyn Hartsfield won the blackout game and the prize of a lighted cross. Then the Gibbons had made plans for a fish supper for us at the Fish Net at 5 pm. That was all good also. They were excellent planners. Old business: None; New business: None. We talked about our Charity Donations. Vivian Langheld suggested we keep our money in Arkansas places such as Arkansas Children s Home and Agape Home for Children. Will bring this up again in our December meeting in El Dorado. Marilyn ask for the meeting to adjourn. Vona Smith, Secretary/Reporter Page 6 Arkansam News 2015
