To be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind. To talk health, happiness, and prosperity to every person you meet. To make all your friends feel that there is something in them. To look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true. To think only of the best, to work only for the best, and to expect only the best. To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own. Another month seems to have flown by. We are into summer, heat, vacations and activities. Our club is sure an active club! Thanks to all members help with Bingo, Youth Appreciation Day and sprucing up the grounds at the Jackson City Park band shell. Even though we won t have any regular meetings in July, do remember to join us at Gordonville Grill on Tuesday, July 7 for the 10% our club gets from profits that day. They are generous and we can really support our club by eating there no work necessary! Jut come and eat, day or evening and we receive 10% of all sales and gift cards. Bring friends and family, spread the word! Our August board meeting is set for Monday, August 3 due to the election being on Tuesday our regular meeting night. Don t forget to vote! To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future. Bee thinking of times that you may be able to help work the fair gate in September. The committee will have sign up sheets in August and be calling for HELP. Please try to schedule a few hours. It is lots of fun and a great fund raiser. To wear a cheerful countenance at all times and give every living creature you meet a smile. Wishing everyone a happy 4th of July. Bee safe. Enjoy the month of July off and Bee ready to enjoy Optimist in August. To give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticize others. Don t forget we still have Bingo in July. Plan to help if possible. We traded weeks with the men s club due to Homecomers. Bee sure to eat at their food stands! Remember to help with the homecomer s Run at 5:30 p.m. To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear, and too happy to permit the presence of trouble. And the "Beer" and the "Friends" And the "Burgers" for sure! But most important And I really must say Is that "America" got Its "Independence" today! Jackson Men s Bingo Friday, July 10 The Jackson Noon Club will trade Bingo nights with the Jackson Men s Club due to Homecomers. Therefore, we will be responsible for working on Friday, July 24. Please make plans to come and work. The men will be responsible for Friday, July 10 and would appreciate help from our club. Yes in "1776" The famous politician Senator "John Hancock" Had signed the petition That stated that our country Was "free" from all others! And that we would "only be governed" By our "American brothers"! So while we are celebrating This "great day of fun" Let us always remember What our forefathers had done! Billy Nardozzi

3 Homecomer s Fun Run The Homecomer s Fun Run will be held on Tuesday, July 21. Our club has again been asked to work at the registration and results tent. If you have volunteered to work please plan to arrive between 5:15 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. For questions or information, contact Patty Turner Optimist International Convention New Orleans, LA July 9-11, 2015 East Missouri District Convention August St. Louis, Missouri Gordonville Grill Fundraiser Tuesday, July 7 is the club s fundraiser at Gordonville Grill. The club will receive 10% of the proceeds for that day from dine in, carry out or gift card purchases. Please plan to come and eat a good meal and help the club in the process. Invite friends and family to join us as well. Looking Ahead August we return to regular Wednesday Noon Meetings. Fair Gate Fundraiser September at the SEMO District Fair. Installation Banquet is scheduled for September 28 at Bent Creek.

5 June 20, 2015 Our annual Youth Appreciation Day at the city park was a success. There were approximately 100 parents and kids that came out to the park to play games, bounce in the castle and have a hot dog or two before the city pool opened at noon. With the high heat and humidity the free swim was a welcoming relief to many. I am sure some of the Optimist members would have enjoyed a quick swim to cool off. The hot dogs that were cooked by the men s club were gone by 1:30. The little water and chips that were left will be used at the Homecomers stand. Thanks to all who came out to help with setting up and pitching in with the games and food stand. We definitely brought out the best in kids and received many thank you s from the parents! 6 Youth Appreciation Day From April 25 to June 25 a few club members sweated out 67 hours at the Band Shell. It really looks good even with all the trouble we had. We had to replace 2 plants on the West side that had died and we were able to replace them with a new kind of rose that is close to the ground which is what that area needed. New day lilies with other colors was also planted. The East side was the problem area and we won't be able to plant that area until next Spring since the ground was contaminated by the Park Department when they removed some of the old roses and other junk that need to be removed. We have a lot to work with next year and even with the open area it looks better now. This is one thing that doesn't cost anything but a lot of sweat since the Jackson Municipal Band pays for all our plants and mulch. It is a good community project that improved that area that a lot of concert people see. A sign saying it is a project by the Jackson Noon Optimist will hopefully be up by July 4. Pat Abernathy

Emily Collins presents a $250 check to Debbie Leoni for the My Team Triumphs. Mayor Hahs and Jim Roach discussed the city water proposal that will be on the ballot at the August 4 election. June 24 Program Debbie Leoni Debbie presented an informative program about CPR and how to maintain a healthy heart. Pat Abernathy presents a $50 gift certificate to Debbie Leoni for her help in organizing the club s Hope for Kids 5K Run.

8 The Jackson Noon Optimist Club Board of Directors met on Monday, June 1. Action taken: 1. Approved renewing the contract for Bingo. 2. Approved working a gate at the SEMO District Fair, September 12-19, Reinstated the $10 credit for working Bingo on our club s scheduled night and $5 for working on the Jackson Men s night. The money is to be applied to dues. 4. Approved a maximum $6000 donation to the Jackson Community Center for one basketball goal pending approval of the club members at the next club meeting. Note: At the June 3 club meeting a motion was made to match what the Jackson Men s Club decided to donate up to a maximum of $12,000. Motion passed. 1. Set the date for the Installation Banquet for Monday, September 28 at Bent Creek at 6:00 p.m. 2. Set the date for the annual Joint Board meeting for Tuesday, September 1 at Emily Collins home at 6:00 p.m. The following announcements were made: 1. On July 7 (all day) 10% of sales at Gordonville Grill will go to the club s Hope for Kids fund. 2. Homecomer s Fun Run will be Tuesday, July 21 in the Jackson City Park from 5:30-9:00 p.m. Workers will be needed. Let Patty Turner know if you can help. 3. Nancy Collier is able to return as a board member. 4. No regular club meetings will be held in July. 5. July Bingo will be the 4th Friday July 24, We switch with the men because of their fundraiser project at Homecomer s. Reminder to New Members: Turn in a photocopy of your driver s license and social security number to Anita Sievers by July 31. Bingo Report as of end of May. May check was $3,500. So far this year, the club has netted $28,100 with three months to go in this year. Last year, the club netted $21,645 total for the year. So, we are already $6,400+ ahead of last year.
