Great night, great meal provided by Prestige Catering. About 200 attended, a silent raffle was available and closed at 10pm. The major items were auctioned after dinner. The main auction consisted of about 14 items of goods and services donated by local businesses. These ranged from a luxury innerspring mattress by Sealy, Radio and newspaper advertising to holidays overseas, sporting memorabilia to pieces of art. I understand some $30 thousand was raised on the night, great result, congratulations President Laurie and his team from Palm Beach Rotary Club. PP Mike Nella is organising a club trip to Kalgoorlie, weekend 20 th November. Response to date has been a little slow, we need a good turnout to reward the three Kalgoorlie Rotary Clubs who are preparing a great weekend for us. The three Kalgoorlie Clubs are looking at a combined meeting on Saturday 21 st November 2015, this will a good opportunity for the old farts to use up some free passes on the train and share some great company. 3. A great night was had by the 10 members of the Rotary club of Kwinana that attended the Rotary Club of Palm Beach Gala Dinner and Services Auction, I believe it was a very successful night with just under 200 people attending, and some high quality items been auctioned e-g $7, king size bed for $3, A combined meeting of the zone 4 Rotary Clubs, is currently been planned for Saturday November 15 th with all five clubs holding a joint meeting at the Darius Wells Centre, it will be a great night, 18 Club members and Partners have already registered to attend. 5. Traffic Events Management course was held on Thursday 27 th August, 9 members of the club renewed or obtained their qualifications for the next 3 years. 6. Genevieve Carr at looking at expanding our commitment to the Rotary Swimarathon this year now that the Kwinana pool has been reopened let s all get behind her and make it bigger then Ben-Hur. At the age of 17 he survived a horrific car accident in which he lost three friends and both of his legs. Choosing not to be a victim, he became a member of the Perth Wheelcats (National Wheelchair Basketball team), and then played for Barcelona while living in Spain. "I can t turn my head because of the arthritis in my neck," said a third, to which several nodded weakly in agreement. "My blood pressure pills make me dizzy," claimed another. "I can t even remember what I m doing half the time; if I don t make myself a note I forget what I am trying to do in the first place" chimed yet another. short moment of silence..."well, it s not that bad," said one woman cheerfully. "Thank the Lord we can all still drive."
