Rotaract Garage Sale is on again this weekend at Mike Nella s home. Mike has a huge collection of second- hand goods available so get yourself along and check it out, proceeds will support their Indonesian School Project. Mike is very pleased with last weekend s results, about $2.5k so far. There is still time if you have anything at all lying around that could be sold please just let Mike know and he will arrange to pick up. Secretary Brian informed the meeting that he has a letter from PP John Wallhead requesting a LOA for a period of 6 months. 2 Club President 2015/16 Max Bird President s Pen Club Meeting 21 st September 2015 VP Mike Nella welcomed everyone to our meeting tonight. Mike wished to thank everyone who helped or contributed to the success of the Rotaract Garage Sale held last weekend, with more than $2.5k raised so far. It s on again next weekend so it s not too late to donate stuff to be sold off. After dinner Mike invited members to sit in committee s for about 20 minutes to discuss any relevant issues to do with their avenue of service. Don t come along next week as it is a Public Holiday. President Report. 1. PP Michael is doing a great job while I am away thanks mate. 2. Glad to see the Wellard markets went well, I know we will be shorthanded for the City markets in October, but would like to see it continue as it is gaining strength, even if we use the road while the City is working in the area 3. Michael Nella is organising an inter club visit to Kalgoorlie. the three Kalgoorlie Clubs are looking at a combined meeting on Saturday 21 st November 2015, this will a good opportunity for the old farts to use up some free passes on the train and share some great company, let s get behind Mike on this. 4. A combined meeting of the zone 4 Rotary Clubs, is currently been planned for Saturday November 15 th with all five clubs holding a joint meeting at the Darius Wells centre, it will be a great night, 18 Club members and Partners have already registered to attend we are already in excess of 50 attending, get in quick. PP John Brennan Membership PDG John Iriks Community PP Genevieve Carr Vocational Rotaract had their Monster Garage Sale last weekend, very successful over $2.5k raised. On again this coming weekend let Mike have anything you no longer require and they will sell it on the day. The next Wellard Village Markets will be held on Sunday 11 th October 2015, suggestion that Petscapade could be held in conjunction. Kwinana Festival coming up on Saturday 31 st October 2015 at Rhodes Park. We will be running our usual Chocolate Wheel, our food van will be in attendance also. Lolly Run 2015 planning well underway, waiting for road use permission, similar budget to last year. More volunteers feasibly with trailers required to service new areas. Local 4 Way Test involvement has faltered, maybe time to implement Plan B Pres. Max Bird International Lorraine Lucas Youth October 26 th Vocational visit to Requatic Centre, dinner after at the Admiral, 8pm, Genevieve will organise with Admiral to preorder meals to cut waiting time. Admiral is hosting an outdoor concert, Feb and wish to use our traffic management authority, PP Ian is liaising with Admiral manager. Lorraine reported that we had three participants at RYPEN last weekend and all had a fantastic time and will be invited to tell us about their experience on Monday 12 th October. 6 Rotary Club of Kwinana Inc. Club Forum Monday 21 st September 2015 Avenue of Service managers gave a summary of the current status of their aims and objectives. The only item of General Business was a comment/directive from our Treasurer Bob Cooper that Board permission is to be sought for any expenditure during the year not accounted for in the club s budget estimates. Quite significant amounts have been committed for payment without being authorised and were not pre-committed in our club budget. There is no suggestion that any of these amounts were not necessary or justified. Bob said as your treasurer I need to comply with required financial procedures Fine Session Sergeant: PP Stephen Castelli Chris O & Norm Mc: Welcome along, good to see you. Michael M: Delivered a working lawn mower to the Garage Sale and didn t demonstrate its attributes by cutting Mike s lawn. Greg W: Fined because at the Garage Sale Marge gave Stephen C a hard time. Lorraine L: Fined because she agreed with Marge. Brian Mc: Delivered a load of unused/needed audio and video cables to the Garage Sale. Mike N: Fined because he did such a fantastic job organising the Garage Sale. John I: Eric B: Promoting the Dockers & Bendigo Bank at church. Coming to the Garage Sale and was not observed to actually buy anything. Genevieve C: Last arrive and held up the start of the meeting. Lee D: Holding a Spinning Wheel in storage.?? Eric B & Errol Mc: Sitting alone then moved to be together. James S: Accused of nicking the salt and pepper. Bob C: Castigating Mike for not requesting a report, then having no report Norm Mc: Eric commented that he recently heard a report from London that Big Ben had been stolen, it seems to now be on Norm s wrist, Norm that watch is huge Marriage is an investment which pays dividends if you pay interest.

9 Adventure Playground An application has been received for a proposed public recreation facility (Adventure Playground, and associated buildings) at the Calista Oval (Reserve 27533) (refer Attachments C P for Development Plans). The subject site is vested in the City of Kwinana for the purpose of Recreation and Community Welfare Centre and is reserved under Town Planning Scheme No. 2 (Scheme) for Parks, Recreation and Drainage. The proposed Adventure Playground is classified as a Public Recreation use. The proposal is a Permitted P use under the Scheme and is consistent with the reservation of the reserve. The proposal includes seven playground areas, new toilet block, pump house, park shelters, surface treatments, play equipment, parkland furniture, new car park and native wetland planting in existing drainage basins. The Tree Survey Report submitted with this application notes that Calista Oval has approximately 800 existing native and exotic trees (approximately 470 of these trees located in the application area). The proposed development aims to incorporate most of the existing trees into the playground. There is far too much information to reproduce here. Follow the link below to the COK website. 10 You Know you re getting old when The biggest lie I tell myself is..."i don't need to write that down, I'll remember it." Wouldn't it be great if we could put ourselves in the dryer for ten minutes and come out wrinkle-free and three sizes smaller! Last year I joined a support group for procrastinators. We haven't met yet! I don't trip over things, I do random gravity checks! I don't need anger management. I need people to stop pissing me off! Old age is coming at a really bad time! Lord grant me the strength to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can and the friends to post my bail when I finally snap! I don't have grey hair. I have "wisdom highlights". Teach your daughter how to shoot, because a restraining order is just a piece of paper! If God wanted me to touch my toes, he would've put them on my knees. The kids text me "plz" which is shorter than please. I text back "no"...which is shorter than "yes". I'm going to retire and live off of my savings. Not sure what I'll do that second week. When did it change from "We the people" to "screw the people"??? Even duct tape can't fix stupid... but it can muffle the sound! Why do I have to press one for English when you're just gonna transfer me to someone I can't understand anyway? Of course I talk to myself, sometimes I need expert advice! Oops! Did I roll my eyes out loud? At my age "Getting lucky" means walking into a room and remembering what I came in there for Thanks Genevieve for this one.
