16 The World Firefighters Games will be held in Sydney, October There are 71 sporting events scheduled over the 9-day event duration Firefighters (full-time and part-time), rural, volunteer, SES, ambulance, aviation, military, and their direct family members can participate The Games Village will be at Pyrmont Bay Park. It will be a hive of activity (sports, live entertainment, catering) during each day and night of the event We are aiming to achieve 8,000-10,000 competitors over the period with 40%-50% of these being from Australia/NZ, and the balance from overseas Overview

17 Our Games Village will be at PymontBay Park. A number of sporting events will be held in the Games Village main marquee. 19 GAMES VILLAGE DAILY ACTIVITIES Sport, sponsor activation, breakfasts, team meeting point for transport, event debrief and briefing area s, tourist information booths, general information, lunch and nightly presentations. Wednesday 17 th and Thursday 18 th Volunteers collect uniforms, accreditation and receive final briefing in the Games Village Friday 19th Opening Ceremony, Cockle Bay southern-end (pyrotechnics display, entertainment, opening proceedings-floating barge) Games Village 9pm midnight Live entertainment Games Village Saturday20th Doltone House, Official Games Opening dinner/ VIP dignitary. 22 CHARITIES Our official charity during, and leading up to the event, is the Burns Unit at Westmead Children s Hospital. Our aim is to raise 250,000 for the burns unit The Burns Unit has been supported by Firefighters throughout Australia for many years The Burns Unit plays an important role in the recovery of burn injury s which is close to the heart of all Firefighters Our Needs The George Gregan Foundation is committed to raising funds for specific projects targeting children and are also a charity the World Firefighters Games support. The objectives of the Foundation are: To build playgrounds in children's hospitals across Australia To train doctors who specialise in the treatment of children with epilepsy and other neurological conditions
