This is why everything is done to constantly improve these areas and ensure that delegates meet, network and do business. You will find detailed in this mailer (the first of three we will send to you throughout the year) the networking highlights of World Routes 2010 in Vancouver; Airline Meeting Chalets For the fi rst time at World Routes, the Airline Meeting Chalets will be located in the heart of the Networking Village. This will allow the carriers to have more private and longer meetings when required, whilst at the same time improving ongoing contacts between delegates during the event. Unprecedented industry interest Regional Airline Start-up Zone Another brand new development at this year s World Routes is the establishment of a Startup airline zone. The creation of this zone allows regional start-ups from around the world to have pre-scheduled one to one meetings with attending airports. These new airlines will have the chance to actively promote themselves and their business plans at the event and gives attending airports the opportunity to meet with emerging carriers on a highly cost effective basis. City Pair Meetings will allow the two airports to identify new opportunities, share ideas and approaches, exchange data and contacts and jointly plan City Pair strategies and presentations. Above all, City Pair Meetings may be win-win for both airlines and airports. For airlines, it can give them a complete picture without the need to reconcile data and have multiple meetings. For airports, it can lead to joint support packages, potentially saving valuable time and money. These meetings available at World Routes are free and unlimited for all airport delegates. Unrivalled Networking Opportunities Route Exchange Route Exchange - the online bidding platform for new routes, will be present in Vancouver allowing carriers to use the event as part of their online route development process. The airlines will be able to follow up airport responses to their online Request for Proposals (RFP s) through meetings in a dedicated Route Exchange Chalet. Also, following the success of Air Asia s Route Exchange Briefi ng in Beijing, where the carrier explained to Middle Eastern airports how to respond to its online RFP, there will be further such airline briefi ngs at World Routes in Vancouver. 50 minute Strategic Meetings There are now more opportunities to have longer strategic meetings in boardroom style surroundings; not only can these take place in the airline chalets, but also in the airport chalets. Airport Meeting Chalets provide airports with a dedicated and private environment within which to meet their target airlines. Chalet hosts can not only hold double slot meetings of 50 minutes but can brand their meeting chalets, display large visuals or marketing messages, in addition to providing hospitality for visiting airlines. Hosted Networking Stand holders also now have the option of holding airline meetings on their stands. Exclusive Boeing factory Tour Tourism Authorities The increased presence of Tourism Authorities in the route development process has been extremely well received by airlines at World Routes and tangible results from Beijing last year included success for Team Bahrain (a tourism led consortium incorporating the airport and economic development agency) who secured 4 new carriers; United Airlines, Condor, Tui and Armenia. In addition to the chance to exhibit at World Routes, tourism delegates can take part in both the formal and informal networking and are entitled to attend the free of charge Tourism and Air Services Summit (TAS) on the Sunday.

It is testament to the great business and networking opportunities that the event affords that we were able to begin the dialogue that has resulted in the launch of the new routes. The United Airlines route was announced as a direct result of World Routes in Beijing. The new service is planned to commence from Bahrain International Airport to Washington Dulles on April 18, It will be the only same-plane service operated between the Kingdom of Bahrain and North America. (I am delighted to announce) a new service from Munich to Tallinn commencing March 2010, daily A319 which was negotiated at World Routes PEK.
