2 SEARCH AND RESCUE INFORMATION - WEEKLY PERIOD: 31 AUG 15 TO 6 SEP 15 DATE/TIME INCIDENT # 31 09: : : : : : : : : : : : : : PEP REGION INCIDENT ELT/ # PEP #VICTIMS VOL LOCATED ALIVE DEAD NO COMMENTS NEA LAND Central Cariboo SAR responded to a BCAS request for assistance reaching a man who was at an inaccessible area of the Sugar Cane Reserve with a gunshot wound to the leg. Subject was extracted alive by RCMP, and SAR was stood down due to safety concerns. SWE LAND Chilliwack SAR members responded to rescue two stranded campers near Foley Lake. SAR transported subjects to other end of lake and passed to RCMP for transport back to town. SWE LAND members of North Shore SAR responded to search for a missing 5 year old boy in the Lynn Valley Mall Area. The boy was found safely at home, wandered back on his own. CTL LAND Shuswap SAR, 3 Logan Lake SAR, 2 Nicola Valley SAR and 11 Kamloops SAR responded to assist RCMP with a missing female in the Juniper Heights area. Subject was located deceased. CTL LAND Princeton, 2 Hope and 6 Penticton SAR members responded to search for a lost hiker in Manning Park. Four subjects were located and turned over to BCAS for medical assessments. NWE LAND Bulkley Valley SAR members responded as requested by BCAS to rescue an injured male located in the bush above the water treatment facility in New Hazelton. Injured subject walked out on his own, therefore SAR was stood down while tasking. VIR LAND JDF SAR members responded to assist BCAS with an injured hiker along the Juan De Fuca Marine Trail. Subject was carried out on stretcher and passed to BCAS. SWE LAND Chilliwack SAR members responded to assist RCMP with 2 missing hikers near Foley Lake. The subjects were intercepted on the road, safe and sound, and SAR was stood down. VIR LAND Nanaimo SAR members responded to search for a missing hiker in the Westwood Lake/Mt. Benson area. SAR was stood down after the subject walked himself out of the area unassisted. SEA LAND Arrow Lakes SAR responded to assist RCMP in locating a missing despondent male in the Nakusp Area. Subject was located in the hospital. SWE INLAND 8 8 Chilliwack SAR members responded to assist with an abandoned boat near Island 22 in the Fraser River by Chilliwack. Nothing was found after an extensive search. SWE LAND Surrey SAR members responded to search for a missing 7 year old girl in the area of 61st Ave and 128th Street in Surrey. The girl turned up at home in good condition. SWE INLAND Hope SAR members responded to search for a missing male on Kettle Valley Trail in Hope. RCMP located the male hiding on the river bank. CTL LAND Vernon SAR members responded to search for a missing Alzheimer's patient in Polson Park. The

SEA LAND Cranbrook SAR and 4 Kimberley SAR members responded to rescue a fallen climber in the White Swan FSR area. The climber was located and flown directly to hospital to seek medical treatment for a head injury. SWE LAND Squamish SAR member responded to a BCAS request for an injured female hiker on The Chief. SAR was stood down when the subjects companions decided to walk her out themselves. NWE LAND SAR members from Prince Rupert and 1 from Terrace responded to rescue a stranded hiker on Mount Hayes. The hiker was located and extracted via helicopter. SWE OCEAN Squamish SAR member was contacted by BCAS to investigate a report received from RCMP regarding a person in the water near the Squamish Yacht Club. Shortly after the initial call SAR were stood down when a third party recovered the subject deceased. SWE LAND Squamish SAR members responded to rescue an injured 15 year old male hiker near the Tatalus Cabin at Lake Lovely Water. The subject was airlifted out and was turned over to BCAS. SWE LAND North Shore Rescue members responded to a West Vancouver Police request for assistance for a male who has wandered from the Capilano Care facility. The subject was located, and taken back to the care home by police. SWE LAND Surrey SAR members responded to search the Newton area for a missing elderly female with dementia. SAR was stood down when the RCMP received a report from a citizen who had found the subject. SWE LAND members of North Shore Rescue responded to Mount Seymour to search for two lost males. Both subjects were located quickly and were escorted out of the area by SAR. NEA LAND members of Central Cariboo SAR and 1 PEP Air member were called in regards to a search for 2 overdue/missing hikers in the Big Creek Provincial Park. SAR was stood down when the subjects got home safe and sound. VIR LAND Comox Valley SAR members responded to assist RCMP in searching for a despondent youth in Comox. SAR was stood down when the RCMP located the youth alive and well. VIR LAND Cowichan Valley SAR members responded to assist a female with multiple hornet stings at Sandy Pool Regional Park. The subject was located and handed off to BCAS. SWE LAND North Shore Rescue members responded to search for a missing male on Mount Seymour. While SAR was mobilising, RCMP located the subject and returned him to his home. SWE LAND North Shore Rescue members responded to search for a lost female hiker with two dogs, one of which was injured. SAR successfully located the

SWE LAND Lions Bay SAR and 4 North Shore Rescue members responded to rescue an injured hiker on The Lions. The subject was brought successfully by long line and passed to BCAS. SWE LAND Kent Harrison and Chilliwack SAR members responded to rescue two injured subjects at Bear Creek Falls. One had fallen halfway down the falls and was rescued. The second individual had fallen onto the water covered rocks at the bottom and was deceased. His body was recovered on 06 Sep and turned over to the Coroner. SWE LAND North Shore Rescue members responded to search for a missing German tourist on Grouse Mountain. The subject was located alive and well and was escorted out to the RCMP who returned him to his hotel. VIR LAND Campbell River SAR and 7 Comox Valley SAR members responded to search for a missing mushroom picker on the Little Goose FSR near Campbell River. RCMP were escorting the missing person out of the bush when SAR arrived on scene. SWE LAND Kent Harrison SAR members responded to rescue 2 people involved in an ATV accident and were down a steep embankment at the 33 km mark of the Harrison East Road, near Harrison. One subject was okay, one suffered broken arms. The subjects were brought up and transported to a nearby logging camp where they were transferred to Air Ambulance and flown to the hospital. CTL INLAND Shuswap Lifeboat Rescue 1 members were responding to another incident when they came upon an injured ski dooer. The subject was rescued from the water and treated by BCAS personnel onboard and dropped off at a nearby houseboat. VIR LAND Campbell River SAR member responded to search for two overdue campers in the Alice Lake area. SAR was stood down once it was learned that the campers had planned on staying out for the weekend. SEA LAND Nelson SAR members responded to assist a female who sustained a head injury while hiking on a trail up the Kokanee Glacier Park Road. The subject was brought out by SAR, passed to waiting ambulance and then airlifted to the Nelson Airport. SWE LAND North Shore Rescue members responded by helicopter to rescue an injured female from the Two Brothers Creek Trail in North Vancouver. The subject was extracted using HETS, and SAR members then escorted her 2 partners out on foot. SWE LAND Squamish SAR members responded to search for 2 missing hikers on The Chief hiking trail. The subjects walked out on their own and were discovered on the highway by the RCMP ELT ELT - 16

5 WEEKLY INCIDENT REPORT 31 AUG 06 SEP 2015 DANGEROUS GOODS On 31 Aug 15, there was an oil sheen reported in False Creek in Vancouver. It was upgraded to Code 2 (Urgent Status) by the Ministry of Environment Response Officer (MOE RO). The Coast Guard investigated and determined that the sheen was nonrecoverable. No source was located. DEBRIS FLOW On 04 Sep 15, a debris flow into an unnamed creek at Gates Lake caused localized flooding that threatened 2 residences, a historical building and the Birken Fire Hall. The Squamish Lillooet Regional District requested a task to cover engineering and construction costs to move the creek back to its original channel and reduce the threat to the at risk properties. EVIDENCE SEARCH On 04 Sep 15, North Shore Rescue were tasked by the RCMP to conduct an evidence search on the Howe Sound Crest Trail. On 06 Sep 15, Ridge Meadows SAR were called out by RCMP to perform an evidence search on the east side of Alouette Lake. MISCELLANEOUS On 31 Aug 15, Princeton Rescue responded to a medical assistance request from BCAS in regards to a patient in cardiac arrest. On 31 Aug 15, a low income housing complex owned by the City of Vancouver was flooded, displacing 160 people. ESS responded and three group lodging centres were established. On 05 Sep 15, Fort St. John Fire Department responded to assist BCAS with a patient in cardiac arrest. On 06 Sep 15, the Comox Fire Department Hazmat Crew were asked to assist Fanny Bay Fire Department with extricating a deceased person from a vehicle containing unknown chemicals.
