2 SEARCH AND RESCUE INFORMATION - WEEKLY PERIOD: 18 SEP 17 TO 24 SEP 17 DATE/TIME INCIDENT # 16 11: UPDATE 18 03: : : : : : : : : : : EMBC REGION INCIDENT ELT/ #VICTIMS # EMBC VOL LOCATED ALIVE DEAD NO COMMENTS SWE LAND Squamish SAR members responded to search for a male, last seen by the Squamish River. The subject was located and transferred to the BCAS. SWE LAND Surrey SAR responded to search for a 12-year-old boy with Autism missing in Newton. The subject was located in good condition, by police. VIR LAND Ladysmith and Cowichan SAR responded to search for a male who became lost after his vehicle was stuck on Oyster Sto'lo Road. The SAR team located the subject in his vehicle. NWE Atlin SAR responded to search for a missing hunter at Gladys Lake near Atlin. The hunter was located at his cabin, in good condition. SWE LAND Coquitlam SAR and 5 North Shore Rescue members responded to search for 2 lost hikers in the Norden Lake area, near the end of Indian Arm. Both subjects were located by the heli team, hiking out of the area. They were transported via heli to Coquitlam Town Center Fire Hall. SEA Kaslo SAR members responded following a report of a person in Kootenay Lake near Lardeau. The SAR team searched extensively, with no results. VIR LAND Powell River SAR members responded to search for three climbers known to be going to The Daniels - Red Alert Wall out of Powell River. The climbers were located, in good condition. SWE Mission SAR members responded to search for someone that jumped off of the Mission/Abbotsford bridge. The SAR team located the subject, alive, on log booms with back and pelvis injuries. CTL LAND Princeton SAR and 7 Hope SAR members responded to search for a 15 year old student who went missing from a group in Manning Park. The SAR team was stood down when the subject was located in a hotel. CTL LAND Penticton SAR members responded to rescue an injured motorcyclist up Carmi Road in Penticton. The subject was brought out alive to an awaiting ambulance for treatment. NEA LAND North Peace SAR members responded to rescue a subject injured in a quad rollover on the Sikanni Chief outside of Fort St John. SAR was stood down when BCAS was able to land near the subject. SWE LAND Hope SAR members responded to rescue an injured person near the Othello Tunnels. The subject was located alive, by SAR. SWE LAND CFV SAR responded to locate a possible missing female in the Marshall Creek area of Abbotsford. Nothing was found and the team was stood down, pending further RCMP information. VIR LAND Campbell River SAR members responded to rescue a subject with an injured knee on Quadra

3 22 15: : : : : : : : : : : Island. SAR was stood down after residents successfully transferred the patient to BCAS on their own. VIR AIR 1ELT PEP Air responded to a JRCC request to investigate an ELT sounding in the area of Victoria. The ELT was located in an aircraft hangar. SWE LAND Whistler SAR members responded to locate a subject with an injured knee from Cheakamus Lake, near Whistler. The subject was located and transported to the Whistler Medical clinic. SEA LAND Revelstoke SAR responded to rescue an injured female with a knee injury on Frisby Creek FSR. SAR was stood down when the individual self rescued. NEA LAND Fort St. John SAR members responded to locate a male with abdominal pain, from a remote location south of Muncho Lake. The subject was handed over to BCAS at the Fort Nelson Airport and transported to the hospital. VIR LAND Nanaimo SAR responded to a male suffering a cardiac arrest on Mt. Benson. The subject succumbed to his condition, prior to SAR arrival, was brought out and passed to the coroner. VIR LAND Nanaimo SAR responded to a male suffering leg cramps on Mt. Benson. The subject refused BCAS transport and was transferred to his friends care at the parking lot. NWE LAND Terrace SAR members responded to search for a missing mushroom picker near Gitwinksihlkw area, north of Terrace. SAR was stood down when RCMP located the subject, alive and well. SWE LAND Whistler SAR members responded to rescue a fallen hiker across a stream, on the Garabaldi Lake Trail near Whistler. The SAR team was stood down as they were mustering, when the subject self rescued. SWE LAND Central Fraser Valley SAR members responded to locate a missing elderly female with Schizophrenia in the Langley area. Extensive searching failed to find any sign of the subject and RCMP stood down the search, pending new information. NWE LAND Burns Lake Fire Rescue members responded to rescue a quad rider who had gone over an embarkment. The subject was transferred to BCAS, conscious with broken bones. VIR LAND Juan De Fuca and Metchosin SAR members responded to rescue a male who fell down a ravine and sustained a broken ankle at China Beach, near Jordan River. On arrival, it was determined that another individual had become stuck while attempting to rescue the injured party. The SAR team escorted the uninjured party back to his campsite, and the injured subject to ambulance, for transport to hospital. SWE Mission SAR members responded to rescue some stranded boaters on Stave Lake near Mission. The SAR team rescued a family of three and transported them back to the boat launch.

4 24 10: : : : : : WEEK TOTAL YEAR TO DATE VIR LAND Alberni Valley Rescue responded to rescue a male who sustained a bee sting reaction on Mount Arrowsmith. The SAR team rescued the subject and passed him to ambulance for treatment. CTL 6 6 Peachland Marine Rescue responded to a report of an 18 foot capsized boat on the Okanagan. After checking the vessel, it was determined to have broken its mooring and had been in the water for some time. SWE LAND Chilliwack SAR members responded to locate a woman lost in the Boston Bar area. The SAR team was able to locate the subject, after her vehicle had become stuck and brought her out to safety. VIR LAND Campbell River SAR members responded to locate an overdue hiker in the Pinch Creek area, near Port Alice. The SAR team was stood down by RCMP after they located the subject, alive and well. SWE LAND North Shore Rescue members responded to locate an overdue hiker in the Mystery Lake area of Mount Seymour. The SAR team was stood down after the subject walked out on their own. SWE LAND North Shore Rescue members responded to locate a lost male on Grouse Mountain. The SAR team located the subject and escorted him safely off the Mountain ELT ELT - 12

5 WEEKLY INCIDENT REPORT Sep 2017 BODY RECOVERY On 19 Sep 2017, a task was issued to Fort Nelson SAR in response to a coroner request for the body recovery of a deceased hunter who was on a guided hunting trip. The area had terrain and accessibility issues for the team so the task was only for SAR Manager consultation. INTERFACE FIRE On 19 Sep 2017, a task was issued to cover the hiring of a recovery manager due to wildfire impacts, which caused the community of Wells to suffer social and economic loss. EVIDENCE SEARCH On 22 Sept 2017, a task was issued to Quesnel SAR to search the Nazko area in an attempt to locate evidence. MISCELLANEOUS On 18 Sep 2017, a task was issued to Chilliwack SAR to retrieve a stranded dog off of an island, in the Fraser River at the end of Gil road.
