3 The Rotary Club of Windsor Inc. CLUB ASSEMBLY 11 th July 2018 Page 3 The meeting was chaired by President Col Mitchell who welcomed Members (there were no guests). Sgt Tom Millington called on Geoff Roberts to lead the meeting in Grace, and then proposed the Loyal Toast to HM Elizabeth II, Queen of Australia. REPORTS: Secretary Rod Hartas: Tabled a written report to the meeting, and amongst the usual tedium of correspondence etc, a couple of rather nice matters emerged. The Children s Medical Research Institute will list us as a significant donor on their Honour Roll to be installed at Westmead. (they re getting another $10,000 on the 27 th July, but don t tell the Treasurer) District Governor Susan Wakefield s visit on 31 October will be preceded by a Mayoral Reception at Council. Details as they come to hand. Our Honorary Members from have been offered continuing status in , with a gracious acceptance already received from Canon John Butler. Negotiations are continuing to formalise our tenure at Windsor Country Golf Club, with a Memorandum of Association in the pipeline regarding our contributions to the Club and guaranteeing a minimum number of regular Wednesday meetings. 4 Page 4 International Director Paul Fraser: Delivered (and tabled) a comprehensive report, particularly regarding our efforts to improve basic services and Youth Programs (e.g. RYPEN) in Timor Leste. A rather emotional thank-you from computer tech Reno shut the cross talk up like magic!!!!. This year s board has already approved the funding of transport and installation costs of donated in kind (DIK) playground equipment for the kindergarten in Balibo. Club Administration Director Barry Kennedy: Had nothing to report on this matter at present, (but wait til things get hectic in the next couple of months Ed). Then putting on his other hat... Marketing Director Barry Kennedy:... reported that the Charity Race Day beneficiaries presentation night on Friday 27 July is going ahead at Windsor RSL ($40 ph). Numbers taken next week. Barry also noted that planning for an interclub community event is well underway, with a ½ Marathon proposed for Scheyville National Park (no road closures and traffic management issues). Watch this space! New Generations Director Geoff Roberts: Also tabled a written report noting that 2IC Craig Munro has already identified a probable RYPEN candidate for the summer camp (and it s still school holidays!) The club will continue our regular support of driver training (RYDA) and young adult personal development (RYLA) programs as well as contributing to co-operative interclub support for a Youth Week project at the 2019 Hawkesbury Youth Summit. (A meeting of Youth Directors with Hawkesbury Council has since been confirmed for Wednesday 25 July) We will also continue to support joint international youth programs in developing countries such as Timor Leste. Community Service Director Paul Barber: Confirmed numbers for tomorrow s BBQ at the Riverstone NAIDOC celebrations. Reminded members that a full-on effort will be required for catering at the All Holden Day weekend on 3, 4 and 5 August. Noted that in a new project approved by the Board we will be manning admission gates at the Hawkesbury Caravan Camping 4WD Fish & Boat Show on 7, 8 and 9 September.

5 Page 5 Announced that the PCYC launch has been deferred until a site has been finalised with HCC. Vocational Director Sid Kelly: Was an apology, but it was confirmed that the Police Officer of the Year (Bryson Anderson) Award presentation night will be held on Wednesday 22 August at the Hawkesbury Race Club. $50 ph. Family of Rotary: Mal Roughley advised that members should make him and Doug Stoneman aware of any situations within the extended family of the club that would benefit from visits, kind words, flowers, fruit bowls etc. CLUB ASSEMBLY: Such was the quality of the new Board s reports that no points for discussion were raised by members. (or those attending were bored to tears Ed) CONCLUDING ITEMS: Awwww, the King of Hearts The Wine Raffle was won last week by Mike Norton, but the ever elusive Jackpot Joker (worth $1034) eluded the cut. Sergeant at Arms Tom then conducted the disciplinary session with his usual flair, leaving no stone unturned in the pursuit of fines for misdemeanours. President Col thanked members for their attention, and in the light of changing demographics and falling membership across Rotary as a whole, asked members to consider sponsoring a satellite club. We ll raise this issue in the future. There being no further business, Sgt Tom led the singing of Advance Australia Fair to close the Meeting and allow the NRL tragics to watch State of Origin III.
