3 Tonight s Meeting We extend a welcome to the Friendship Exchange Team from District 5390, Montana, USA The Friendship Exchange Team arrived in Hobart on 2 nd February and have visited Hobart (home hosted), Richmond, Port Arthur, Ulverstone (home hosted), Cradle Mountain, Stanley, Launceston (home hosted), Tamar Valley and now Deloraine. 4 Dear Paul and Anne, Family of Rotary Birthday: News from Exchange Student... Lou DeClerq I'm terribly sorry I haven't given news before today! First part of my school year has been totally crazy and very busy. I've passed my exams and I have good results in the end but I was studying everyday since my first day at Uni. I've lost a bit of my English because I have two more languages to learn: Spanish and Latin. It was really good to find back my family and my friends even if I miss Tassie everyday a bit more. I also miss the sun, it's winter here! Thanks again to the Club of Deloraine, I'm so grateful for all the memories with Rotary's members. Hope you are fine, Lou PP Andrew Johnston 14 th February Model United Nations Assembly (MUNA) Rotarians, please note that the dates for MUNA this year are Saturday 20 th and Sunday 21 st May. PP Annette is once again coordinator for MUNA, and will in due course be seeking assistance from Rotarians to help out over the weekend and to host students. The next TCF Committee Meeting will be held on Monday 6 th March, 2017 at Rotary Pavilion 7.15p.m. New Horizons Great Western Tiers Cycle Challenge Sunday 26 th March Assistance will be required from Rotarians (family and/or friends) on this day. Assistance to erect signs, to act as flag marshalls, etc. Community Service Director Lesley will be seeking volunteers soon..... New Generations Service Exchange Tasmania - Brazil 2017 Our District has the pleasure of participating in a New Generations Service Exchange with D4760 Brazil in District 4760 Brazil includes the Unai area and Minas Gerais, an inland state in south eastern Brazil. Whilst similar in some ways to the old GSE program, NGSE is a more focussed on the vocational development of participants, and seeks to have people working more in a hands on sense. This can provide an accelerated way of gaining deep insight into their vocation over a short period and as such a meaningful and intense opportunity for vocational development. The theme for the exchange has been agreed by our District Governor Gerard Blizzard to be an exchange focusing on the agricultural sectors of both of our Districts and as such it is hoped that both teams will visit, participate and learn from their program in each district and in turn take this knowledge back and apply some of their learnings in their vocation at home and provide some different and innovative thinking to the agricultural sectors of both districts. Applications for the four team positions are currently open and I encourage your club to consider sponsorship of a young person in the age range 18 to 30 years who is involved in the agricultural sector and assist them in participating in what would be a memorable and valuable exchange. Our team will be visiting Brazil from the 8 th May to 9 th June 2017, and applications are open until Tuesday 28 th February. The inbound team will visit our District from 2 nd April to 6 th May 2017 and it is with the inbound team we would like to offer you the opportunity to host them for one of their weeks in Tasmania, given that your club is located in an area rich with agriculture and many learning opportunities for the inbound team, as well as the opportunity to learn about Tasmania and our ways and customs. It is envisaged that the team will remain with each of the five host clubs that we seek for around one week. The Brazilian team has been selected and is made up of four young men, who will find many relevant businesses to connect with that are involved with their vocations in agriculture: Diego Omar Samoel Caio Dairy and Beef Farming Agronomy Coffee farming, finance, agricultural engineering and Agri Tourism Dairy and Beef Farming More information and application forms are available from Secretary Michael

There are no changes of the format i.e. I will provide the driving instructions and start the cars at 2 minute intervals. The nominal driving time is approx. 2 hours and the distance around 100km. As we end at some distance from Deloraine please make sure that there is enough petrol in the tanks. There will also be some driving on gravel so take care. And, of course, a pen and a clip board for the navigator (co-driver) will come in handy. For any newcomers it is best to be at least 2 in each car one for driving and one to read the driving instructions. And again the starting fee is $2 per car which will be spent on a prize for the winner. At the finish there will be public toilets, but this time no BBQ facilities so bring your own stuff if you want to cook. Any Rotarian who has not registered their interest for the Car Rally, please contact Rtn Steen and advise him of your participation.
