The people accept the commands and make a commitment to keep them. Moses then asks the young people to offer sacrifices, since that is not an exclusive of priests. In sacrifices, the blood of victims was divided into two: one was offered to God and the other one was sprinkled on the altar. It is a sign of covenant between God and the people. Jesus words at the Last Supper (this is a new covenant in my blood) tell us that Exodus is at the back of the words of Jesus and speaking of a new covenant implies the fulfillment of Jeremiah s oracle (31:31-34). Heb 9:11-15 Christ, the High priest of the new covenant is here compared to Levitical priests who entered the temple just once a year to make an external purification with the blood of animals. Christ, priest in the order of Melchisedek, enters just once and, with his own blood, accomplishes eternal redemption. This is the blood that liberates from sin and sanctifies the person to draw her near to the living God. Mk 14:12-16, Rewarding the host (that is, inviting him in return) was a norm of courtesy in old times in Israel. Jesus recommendation to invite those who cannot repay presents an idea of an alternative way to live in the manner of god. Not only the poor are mentioned, but also despised people: the sick, blind, lame, crippled. In the Qumran writings, these sick people were excluded from the eschatological banquet and of the ensuing feast. The pathways are the outskirts of the city. They can come without an invitation; no one is excluded unless it is their own choice. What are finally seated at the table are people to whom the traditional religious groups denied communion with God: the poor, publicans, aliens. During the summer, children may spend time at a camp or program. It is important to monitor for potential risks when a child enters a new environment. Ask to see the organizations written policies for the adults who will be supervising your child, check if there are procedures in place for emergencies and make sure there is a system for open communication between parents and organizers/leadership. Taking time to check these and other safeguards is key to building safe and nurturing experiences for children. Our patron Saint, who lived from 1195 until 1231, was born in Portugal, and as a Franciscan priest, ministered in Italy. That evening we will celebrate a 7:00 pm Mass in our church, and then share a potluck supper in the auditorium. All are warmly encouraged to attend. San Antonio de Padua que vivió desde 1195 hasta 1231, nació en Portugal, y como un sacerdote Franciscano, hizo su ministerio en Italia. Esa noche vamos a celebrar una Misa a las 7:00 pm en nuestra iglesia, y luego tendremos un convivio en el auditorio. Todos están invitados a asistir. 7 Page 7 EL CUERPO Y LA SANGRE DE CRISTO 3 DE JUNIO, 2018 Lo siguiente es de Nuestra Parroquia Las lecturas y su mensaje Éxodo 24:3-8 Al bajar Moisés de la montaña, transmite lo que le ha entregado Dios. El pueblo acepta los mandatos y se compromete a observarlos. Moisés entonces pide a los jóvenes que ofrezcan sacrificios, ya que esto no es exclusiva sacerdotal. En el sacrificio, la sangre de las víctimas se dividía en dos mitades: una se ofrece a Yahvé y otra se rocía sobre el altar. Es un signo de la alianza entre Dios y el pueblo. Las palabras de Jesús en la última cena (ésta es la nueva alianza en mi sangre) nos dicen que Éxodo está en el trasfondo de las palabras de Jesús, y hablar de nueva alianza implica la realización del oráculo de Jeremías (31:31-34). Hebreos 9:11-15 Cristo, sumo sacerdote de la nueva alianza, es aquí comparado a los sacerdotes levíticos, que entraban en el templo una vez al año para hacer una purificación externa por la sangre de los animales. Cristo, sacerdote de la línea de Melquisedec, entra una sola vez y, con su propia sangre, realiza la redención eterna. Es la sangre que libera del pecado y santifica a la persona para acercarla al Dios viviente. Los que al final se sientan son personas a quienes los tradicionales grupos religiosos les negaban la comunión con Dios: los pobres, los publicanos y los extranjeros. Durante el verano, los niños pueden pasar su tiempo en un campo o en un programa. Es importante monitorearlos para potenciales riesgos que suceden cuando un niño entra a un nuevo ambiente. Solicite ver las políticas de la organización para los adultos que estarán supervisando a su hijo o hija, revise que la organización tenga un plan de seguridad para casos de emergencia, y verifique que exista un sistema para mantener comunicación entre los padres de familia y los organizadores y los líderes. Tomar el tiempo para comprobar estas y otras medidas de salvaguardias es clave para construir experiencias seguras y sanas para los niños.
