2 SECOND COLLECTION This weekend, the Second Collection will be our Maintenance & Repair Collection to help with the repair and restoration of the parish. Thank you for your generosity and support. ADULT SACRAMENTS Are you an adult, 21 years or older and have not received all your Sacraments (Communion and Confirmation)? If you would like to do so this year, we, at Blessed Sacrament offer a program for adults (RCIA), that guides you to the reception of these sacraments. If you would like to register or find out more information, please call the Rectory and speak with Sister Jane. RELIGIOUS EDUCATION NEWS Parents of children who have attended their first year of preparation for First Eucharist (Communion) and Confirmation, remember that your children must be registered for the second year in order to receive the Sacrament. For more information feel free to contact the Religious Education Office during office hours at PRAYER & LIFE WORKSHOP Beginning on Tuesday, September 4th from 7:30pm to 9:30pm the Taller de Oracion y Vida, invites you to attend a 15-week seminar to be held in the Convent. This workshop is an opportunity for all adults to enter into a deeper relationship with Jesus through meditation and reflective prayer. This is a grace-filled experience and one that can impact your life greatly. For more information please call Maria Remache at to reserve your place. CONSTRUCTION UPDATE The new sidewalk project is moving along nicely. Work is completed on 94th Street and now the project will begin on 93rd Street in front of the School Yard. There will be some inconvenience for us during the next few days but there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Regarding the Convent, the abatement of asbestos is completed and now we must wait ten days before work can resume again. ANNUAL CATHOLIC APPEAL Once again, thank you for supporting the Annual Catholic Appeal. If you made a pledge but have not sent in any payments, could we ask you to do so now. There are only four months left until the end of the Appeal. All monies returned now go directly to the repair work of the convent. If you should have any questions or concerns please call the Rectory Office at CHILDREN S CHANGE FOR THE ROOF The children of Blessed Sacrament bring their change each week to the church to help fix the convent roof. As of this week, we have collected: Total $6, Last week $ New Total $7, ST SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME SUPER CHRISTMAS RAFFLE This year s Annual Raffle will be a Super Christmas Raffle to be held on Sunday, December 2, 2012 at the Tree Lighting Ceremony. 1st Prize: $10,000 2nd Prize: $ 3,000 3rd Prize: $ 1,500 Only 500 tickets will be sold at $100 each. Pick your favorite number from 000 to 499. You may reserve your number at the Rectory Office or in front of the Church after services. TRIP TO WASHINGTON Please consider joining us on the Marian Pilgrimage to the National Shrine with Bishop DiMarzio in October. The following are two (2) possibilities for your consideration: Day Trip: Bus leaves from Blessed Sacrament at 6:00am on Saturday, October 27th and returns that same day at 10:00pm. Cost $52 per person. Overnight Trip: Bus leaves from Blessed Sacrament on Friday, October 26th 6:00am and returns on Saturday about 10:00pm. The St. John s University Speech and Hearing Center will be offering FREE speech and hearing screenings from September 6, 2012 through December 6, Please call the Center at to schedule an appointment. The Speech and Hearing Center is located at Union Turnpike, Flushing, NY. CHURCH OPEN ALL DAY Beginning Monday, September 10, 2012, the Church will remain open every day from 6:00am to 5:00pm. Eucharistic Adoration will also resume on Monday and Thursday with Benediction at 4:45pm. In October we will also resume First Friday Adoration. SENIOR CITIZEN GROUPS The Senior Citizens will continue to meet in the airconditioned Convent during the Summer months. We welcome all to join us on Thursdays from 1:00pm to 4:00pm each week for fellowship. FLEA MARKET Our next Flea Market will be on Sunday, September 9th. 4 SEGUNDA COLECTA Este Fin de Semana la Segunda Colecta es para el Mantenimiento & Reparación. Esto nos ayuda con el arreglo y restauración de la Iglesia. Agradezco su generosidad y ayuda. SACRAMENTOS PARA ADULTOS Si usted es un adulto, de 21 años y más y aún no ha recibido todos sus Sacramentos (Bautismo, Comunión y Confirmación) y le gustaría recibirlos este año. Nuestra parroquia ofrece el programa de preparación para adultos (RICA). Si desea inscribirse o recibir mayor información llame al para hablar con la Hna. Oneida. INFORMACION DE LA ESCUELA DE RELIGION Recordamos a los padres de familia de los estudiantes que se prepararon en el primer año, para recibir el Sacramento de la Primera Comunión (Eucaristía) y Confirmación; que deben inscribir a sus hijos para el segundo año, y así poder completar la preparación para recibir el Sacramento respectivo. Para más información llame al TALLER DE ORACION Y VIDA Comenzando el Martes 4 de Septiembre de 7:30pm a 9:30pm, el Taller de Oración y Vida, les invita a un seminario de 15 semanas que se realizará en el Convento. Este seminario ofrece la oportunidad de desarrollar una relación más estrecha con Jesús a través de la meditación y la oración profunda. María Remache al INFORMACION DE LA CONSTRUCCION El proyecto de construcción de la acera alrededor de la Iglesia y Escuela está avanzando. El trabajo ya se termino en la calle 94, ahora comenzará en la calle 93 al frente del patio de la escuela. Tendremos algunos inconvenientes por unos días pero al final del túnel veremos la luz. Con respecto al Convento, la limpieza de asbestos está terminada pero debemos esperar diez días para continuar con el trabajo. CAMPAÑA CATOLICA ANUAL Una vez mas, muchas gracias por su ayuda para la Campaña Católica Anual. Si usted hizo una promesa y aun no ha enviado ningún pago, podríamos pedirle que lo haga ahora?. Quedan solamente cuatro meses para que la Apelación se termine. Todo el dinero que nos devuelvan, va directamente al arreglo del Convento. Si tiene alguna pregunta o inquietud, llame a la casa Parroquial al MONEDAS DE LOS NIÑOS PARA EL TECHO Los niños de la parroquia del Santísimo Sacramento traen sus monedas cada semana a la Iglesia y así colaboran para el arreglo del techo del convento.
