2 BLACK AND INDIAN MISSION Today, our parish will take up the 131st annual National Black and Indian Mission Collection. Our support of this collection helps build the Church in African American, Native American, and Alaska Native communities from cost to cost. Schools, parish religious education programs, and diocesan ministries depend on your generosity to help them spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ! MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR Next weekend, the Second Collection is our Maintenance & Repair Collection. These funds help with the repair and restoration of the parish buildings. Thank you for your generosity and support. FROM THE PASTOR S DESK In order to give letters of recommendation, letters attesting to character, sponsor certificates, and other documents that may have legal or religious purposes, it is required that persons requesting those documents be registered and be active members of Blessed Sacrament Parish. We can not give any of these documents to persons not registered in the parish. YOUTH GROUP The Youth Group of Blessed Sacrament Church give a big thanks to all parishioners who helped in the organization of the St. Valentine s Celebration. As a result of this effort $3,500 well collected for the World Youth Day PARISH SUPPORT INITIATIVE Many parishioners understand the need for everyone to participate in our Parish Support Program. At Blessed Sacrament Church, this participation will mean different things to different people depending on the present degree of support, such as: 1. Register in Blessed Sacrament to establish membership. 2. Use weekly envelopes with a contribution. 3. Increase your weekly donation to Blessed Sacrament Church. We will be able to meet our expenses if we have an increase in our income. Each of us is aware of the costs of running our own homes. The same demands apply to our parish. Whatever your means allow, we ask you to considering increasing your contribution. Our goals are: 1. To register more parishioners. 2. To realize an increase that will allow us to cover our daily expenses. RELIGIOUS EDUCATION PROGRAM NEWS VOICE CLASSES Dear Parents, One of the main goals of Blessed Sacrament Church is to contribute to the integral formation of your children through the arts to develop their creative and intellectual capacities. Happily, our very own parish is offering now Voice Classes for children between 5 and 12 years old. The classes will be on Saturdays from 12 noon to in the Valero Hall. The donation is $50 per month per child. To inquire, please contact de CCD Office at NEED YOUR HELP We are very happy to inform you that our classes of piano, guitar and voice already started. We already have 120 registered and we are in need of KEY BOARDS, if you have one that you are not using, please donate it to our Program. Thank you for your kindness. 1ST SUNDAY OF LENT STATIONS OF THE CROSS During the Lenten Season we will conduct the Stations of the Cross in Church every Friday. The following is the schedule: English Stations: Spanish Stations: LENTEN NEWS Friday 9:30am in Church Friday 7:30pm in Church TALKING ABOUT LENT Sobriety, austerity, food deprivation, simplicity and humility, not to mention honesty seem anachronistic values in our society that make individual welfare and satiety a source of pride and success. But at the same time is this society that makes us insensitive to the calls of God and the needs of others. Our sacramental encounter with the Lord help us to live away from intoxicating vanity and consumerism of our world, the Spirit of Lent! Which involves working for the Faith that endures justice. THE JOURNEY OF LENT During the 40 days of Lent, we as a Catholic Community enter into a time during which we give greater attention to prayer, charity, fasting and reconciliation. Please be aware of the following Lenten practices recommended by our Church: 1. Lent extends from Ash Wednesday until the Mass of the Last Supper (Holy Thursday). 2. During Lent, Alleluias and Gloria are not sung nor said until the Easter Vigil Mass. 3. No Flowers should decorate the Church. (Please do not bring flowers during Lent). 4. There will be no Holy Water until Easter when new water will be blessed. 5. Refrain from eating meat on Fridays. 6. When fasting you are to eat one full meal and 2 lighter meals per day. Refrain from eating between meals. 7. Consider refraining for 40 days from something that you normally enjoy doing (eating, soap operas, pizza, soda, alcohol) or taking on something positive to do. MASS ON THURSDAY EVENING On Thursday, February 19, 2015 we started to celebrate an additional Mass in Spanish at 7:30pm. Come and join us in this new weekly evening Mass. INVITATION IN LENT The Prayer Group of the Charismatic Renewal is offering a six weeks Seminar, in Spanish, with the Seven Words of Jesus in the Cross. Starts on Wednesday, February 25th at 7:00pm in the Auditorium. LITTLE BLACK BOOK FOR LENT They are available in the vestibule of the Church for a donation of $1. This year the meditations are on the Passion according to St. Luke and a focus on the poor. 4 MISIONES NEGRA E INDIGENA FEBRUARY 22ND, 2015 ESTACIONES DE LA CRUZ Durante la Cuaresma, cada Viernes, conducimos las Estaciones de la Cruz en la Iglesia. El horario es el siguiente: Estaciones en Inglés Estacones en Español Viernes 9:30am Viernes 7:30pm MANTENIMIENTO Y REPARACION El próximo fin de Semana la Segunda Colecta es para la Reparación y Restauración. Estos fondos nos permiten hacer los arreglos y restauraciones de los edificios de la parroquia. Gracias por su ayuda. DESDE EL ESCRITORIO DEL PARROCO Para poder otorgar cartas de recomendación, de buen carácter moral, para actuar como padrinos de algún sacramento y documentos para propósitos legales o religiosos, se requiere que quienes necesitan estos documentos, estén inscritos y sean miembros activos de la Parroquia del Santísimo Sacramento. No podemos entregar ninguna certificación a las personas que no cumplan con estos requisitos. GRUPO DE JOVENES La Pastoral Juvenil de la Iglesia del Santísimo Sacramento agradece a todos los feligreses que ayudaron a organizar la fiesta de San Valentín. Fruto de ese esfuerzo, se recogieron para la Jornada Mundial 2016 $3,500. Gracias por su ayuda. PROGRAMA DE APOYO PARROQUIAL Muchos feligreses comprenden la necesidad de la participación de todo el mundo en el Programa de Apoyo Parroquial. Para la Iglesia del Santísimo Sacramento, participación significa distintas cosas a distintas personas, como: 1. Registrarse en el Santísimo Sacramento para establecer residencia. 2. Usar los sobres de la parroquia para sus donaciones semanales. 3. Aumentar su compromiso semanal a la Iglesia del Santísimo Sacramento. Solo podemos cumplir con nuestros gastos diarios si se han aumentado los ingresos. Cada uno de nosotros es consciente de los gastos de la financiación de nuestros propios hogares. Lo mismo es cierto de nuestra parroquia. Cualquier cosa que decida, su regalo debe tener alguna relación con como se vive y ser proporcionales a su capacidad. Nuestra metas son: 1. Inscribir mas feligreses y 2. Llegar a un aumento en el que podamos cumplir con nuestros gastos cotidianos. PROGRAMA DE EDUCACION RELIGIOSA CLASES DE CANTO Queridos Padres de Familia: Uno de los principales objetivos de la Iglesia del Santísimo Sacramento es contribuir en la formación integral de sus hijos y desarrollar sus capacidades creativas e intelectuales a través del arte. Ahora, felizmente nuestra parroquia les anuncia que se abrirán clases de canto para los niños entre los 5 y 12 años. Las clases serán los días Sábados de 12:00 del medio día a 1:00pm en el Salón Valero. La Donación es de $50 mensuales por niño. NECESITAMOS SU AYUDA Estamos felices de informarle que las clases de piano, guitarra y voz ya se iniciaron. NOTICIAS EN ESTE TIEMPO DE CUARESMA A PROPOSITO DE CUARESMA Sobriedad, austeridad, privación de alimento, sencillez y humildad, sin mencionar honestidad parecerían valores anacrónicos en nuestra sociedad que hacen del bienestar individual y de la hartura un motivo de orgullo y éxito. Pero es al mismo tiempo esa sociedad la que nos hace insensibles a los llamados de Dios y a las necesidades de las demás. Que nuestro encuentro sacramental con el Señor nos ayude a vivir lejos de la vanidad y el consumismo embriagante de nuestro mundo, el a ESPIRITU de la CUARESMA! lo cual supone trabajar por la Fe que hace justicia. EL VIAJE DE LA CUARESMA Por los próximos 40 días de la Cuaresma, nosotros, como una Comunidad Católica entramos en un tiempo de reconocimiento de la oración, la caridad, el ayuno y la reconciliación. Por favor tomen en cuenta las siguientes recomendaciones de la Iglesia en este tiempo: 1. La Cuaresma comienza el Miércoles de Ceniza y termina con la Misa de La Ultima Cena (Jueves Santo). 2. Durante la Cuaresma, el Aleluya y el Gloria no se cantan ni se dice hasta la Vigilia de Pascua. 3. Flores no deben decorar la Iglesia. (Por favor no traigan flores durante la Cuaresma). 4. No habrá agua bendita hasta la Pascua. 5. Absténgase de comer carne los Viernes. 6. Cuando ayuna debe comer solo una vez al dia y abstenerse de comer entre comidas. 7. Por los 40 días, considere abstenerse se hacer o comer algo que generalmente disfruta de hacer o comer. (pizza, ver novelas, soda, licor). MISA LOS JUEVES POR LA NOCHE A partir del pasado Jueves 19 de Febrero de 2015, tenemos una Misa adicional en Español a las 7:30pm. Vengan todos y hagamos una tradición la Misa del Jueves por la noche. INVITACION EN CUARESMA El Grupo de Oración de la Renovación Carismática ofrecerá un Seminario de seis Miércoles con las Siete Palabras de Jesús en la Cruz. Comenzará el Miércoles 25 de Febrero a las 7:00pm en el Auditorio. PEQUEÑO LIBRO NEGRO PARA LA CUARESMA Están disponibles en el vestíbulo de la Iglesia por una donación de $1. Este año la meditación es en la Pasión de Acurdo a San Lucas y enfocándose en los pobres. Este precepto debe cumplirse durante la temporada de Pascua, a no ser por una buena razón que se cumpla en otro momento del año. Por indulto especial, en los Estados Unidos, el plazo para el cumplimiento de este precepto se ha ampliado para incluir el período que comienza el primer Domingo de Cuaresma (22 de febrero 2015) a la Santísima Trinidad (31 de mayo de 2015). Solemnidad de la Anunciación del Señor: Este año la solemnidad de la Anunciación del Señor cae el miércoles 25 de marzo de El Lunes de Reconciliación: Este año nuestra diócesis volverá a celebrar el Lunes de Reconciliación 30 de marzo de 2015, que es el Lunes de la Semana Santa.
