3 Dear Parishioners, Queridos Parroquianos: Congratulations! Almost 200 people signed up to join parish groups or ministries last weekend. I was very pleased by the generous response of these parishioners who currently are not involved in our parish life yet desire to be! It s another sign of the vitality and vibrancy of St. Bart s parish family. Felicidades! Casi 200 personas se inscribieron para unirse con algún grupo o ministerio parroquial durante el fin de semana pasado. Estuve muy contento con la respuesta generosa de estos parroquianos quienes al momento no estaban involucrados en nuestra vida parroquial sin embargó tienen el deseo de ser! Es otra seña de la vitalidad y vida vibrante de la familia parroquial de San Bartolomé. Fr Gildea and I are looking forward to the return of Fr Lucas this coming Tuesday. In a typical week we offer about 20 masses here in the parish as well as celebrating about 40 baptisms a month, weddings, confessions etc, etc! Fr Lucas is a big help to us. We are grateful to Bishop DiMarzio who has agreed to allow Fr Lucas to remain here for 3 years! This is cause for celebration! Working together all of us will continue to strengthen our parish and bring about God s kingdom. Fr Rick El Padre Gildea y yo esperamos el regreso del Padre Lucas este martes. En una semana típica nosotros ofrecemos casi 20 misas aquí en la parroquia además de celebrar casi 40 bautizos al mes, bodas, confesiones, etc., etc. El Padre Lucas es una gran ayuda para nosotros. Estamos muy agradecidos del Señor Obispo Nicolás DiMarzio quien ha permitido que el Padre Lucas se mantenga aquí por 3 años! Esta es una causa de celebración! 4 S P A N I S H CHARISMATIC CONCERT Join us for a day of prayer, music and great preaching! SATURDAY, OCTOBER 26 2:00 P.M. TO 6:00 P.M. (IN THE CHAPEL) Tickets are available after the masses $10 donation we will also have food in Heafey hall. Fr Lucas will preach and Elias Tavares and his group will play and sing. TODAY! MISSION SUNDAY! THIS Sunday we join with the entire Church in celebrating the Missions. All of us by our baptism have the responsibility to share our faith. Some have a special call, to spread the faith in places far away from their own home. These missionaries- lay men and women, religious brothers and sisters, priests and bishops- give up a lot to go to foreign lands and share the message of Jesus and His Church. The second collection this week is our way of showing support for the work of the Church throughout the world. Please be generous. NEW PARISH OFFICE HOURS In an effort to offer greater convenience we are beginning new parish offer hours next week. The office will be open to assist with parish registration, baptism information, offer sacrament certificates and Mass cards. MONDAY - FRIDAY 9AM TO 9PM SATURDAY 1PM TO 7 P.M. SUNDAY 9AM TO 3PM. ANNUAL CATHOLIC APPEAL Congratulations! We have achieved our pledged goal of $76,000. We have already collected over $50,000- we need another $25,000 before the end of December. Please do your best to be faithful to your pledge. If you can pay it off completely now consider doing so. If you have not made a pledge to this year s Annual Catholic Appeal please think of doing so today. Call the parish office for more information. GOAL: 76, PLEDGED: $76, RECEIVED: $52, GUADALUPE FUNDRAISER The Guadalupe committee will host a food and dessert fundraiser on Sunday, October 27 after the 10 a.m., 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. masses in the school gym. All monies will be used to help cover the costs on the feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe December 12. It will also be our welcome back home party for Fr Lucas. PARISH FAIR: This was a great success last weekend!! 191 people signed up for a parish ministry or group! This is a great blessing for our parish! All those who signed up will receive a call this week for the group/ ministry leader to follow up and talk to you about the next steps! Thanks to everyone who participated. ALL SAINTS DAY: We will offer two masses on All Saints day Thurs October 31 at 7:30 p.m. (Spanish) and Friday, November 1 at 9 a.m. in English. All masses will take place in the main church. ALL SOULS DAY: We will offer two masses on Saturday, Nov 2 as we remember all of our beloved dead : 9 a.m. (English) and 11 a.m. (Spanish) During these masses we will especially remember all of our parishioners who have been buried from the parish this year. Special ALL SOULS DAY envelopes are now available at the entrance of the churches. Write the names of your beloved deceased and place it in any of the Sunday collection baskets. The envelopes will be placed on our altars during the month of November. FIRST MASS IN BENGALI: Over 100 people attended last Sunday s first mass in Bengali. We are off to a great start. The next mass in Bengali will take place on Sunday, December 8 at 5:30 p.m. in the chapel. Confessions will be heard from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. in the chapel. Fr Nirmal Costa our new parochial vicar will celebrate the mass. Following the mass there will be refreshments in Heafey Hall. The Bangladeshi and Indian community invite all those who speak Bengali to attend this mass. Fr Nirmal offers the 9 a.m. mass in English every Tuesday in the chapel and is available in the parish office to speak to anyone during the day. OKTOBERFEST PARTY: Our party will start at 1 p.m. this Thursday in Heafey Hall. All tickets have been sold out!! Please arrive with your ticket for entrance and bring your appetite! We will have raffles to help cover the cost of the party so bring extra money as well! CONFIRMATION DAY CONGRATULATIONS to our 85 young people who received the sacrament of confirmation yesterday. The last time we had that large number was 1998 when Bishop Valero confirmed 87! We are so happy to see these young people in our youth groups and assisting in the life of our parish. Please keep them in your prayers during this grace-filled time.

El Padre Lucas predicara y Elías Tavares y su grupo tocaran y cantaran. HOY! DOMINGO DE MISIONES! Este domingo nos unimos con la Iglesia entera celebrando las Misiones. Todos nosotros a través de nuestro bautismo tenemos la responsabilidad de compartir nuestra fe. Algunos tenemos una llamada especial para compartir la fe en lugares lejos de sus casas. Estos misioneros mujeres y hombres laicos, hermanas y hermanos religiosos, sacerdotes y obispos ofrecen todo para viajar largas distancias visitando otros países y lugares para compartir el mensaje de Jesús y Su Iglesia. La segunda colecta es nuestra manera de apoyar el trabajo de la Iglesia por todo el mundo. Favor de ser generoso. HORARIO NUEVO DE LA OFICINA En el esfuerzo de mayor conveniencia estamos comenzando un horario Nuevo para la oficina parroquial la próxima semana. La oficina estará abierta para asistirles con el registro a la parroquia, información para los bautizos, certificados de los sacramentos y ofrecer misas. LUNES A VIERNES 9 AM - 9 PM SÁBADO 1 PM - 7 PM DOMINGO 9 AM - 3 PM CAMPAÑA CATOLICA ANUAL Felicidades! Hemos cumplido con la promesa de la meta de $76,000. Hemos colectado más de $50,000 necesitamos otros $25,000 antes del final de diciembre. Favor de hacer todo lo que puedan para ser fiel a su promesa. Si lo pueden pagar del todo ahora consideren hacerlo. Si usted no he hecho un compromiso a la Campaña Católica Anual de este año por favor piense en hacerlo hoy. META: 76, PROMESA: $76, RECIBIDO: $52, RECAUDACION DE FONDOS PARA GUADALUPE El Comité Guadalupano serán los anfitriones de comida y postres el día 27 de octubre después de la misas de las 10 AM, 11:30 AM y 1:00 PM en el gimnasio de la escuela. Todos los fondos serán para ayudar a cubrir los gastos de la Fiesta de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe el 12 de diciembre. También será nuestra fiesta de bienvenida para el Padre Lucas. FIESTA DE OKTOBERFEST: Hemos tenido una gran respuesta para la fiesta que celebramos el jueves, 24 de octubre. Desafortunadamente, no tenemos más boletos disponibles por ahora. Recuerden, todos los que compraron boletos los tienen que presentar en la puerta para poder entrar. Esperamos tener otra ocasión para celebrar una fiesta antes de comenzar la Cuaresma con Mardi Gras. FERIA PARROQUIAL Fue un gran éxito el fin de semana pasado! 191 personas se inscribieron para los ministerios parroquiales o algún grupo! Esta es una gran bendición para nuestra parroquia! Todos los que se inscribieron recibirán una llamada durante esta semana del líder del grupo/ministerio para comunicarse con usted - hablar de los próximos pasos! Gracias a todos que participaron. DIA DE TODOS LOS SANTOS: Vamos a ofrecer dos misas en el Día de Todos los Santos Jueves, 31 de Octubre a las 7:30 PM (español) y viernes, 1 a las 9:00 AM en ingles. Todas las misas tendrán lugar en la Iglesia Principal. DIA DE TODOS LOS FIELES DIFUNTOS: Vamos a ofrecer dos misas el día 2 de Noviembre en conmemoración de los difuntos: 9:00 AM (ingles) y 11:00 AM (español). Durante estas misas vamos a recordar especialmente todos los parroquianos quienes fueron sepulcrito desde la parroquia durante este año. Sobres especiales de TODOS LOS FIELES DIFUNTOS estarán disponibles en las entradas de las Iglesias. Escriba los nombres de sus seres queridos difuntos y échelo en las canastas de la colecta el domingo. Estos sobres tendrán lugar en los altares durante el mes de Noviembre. PRIMERA MISA EN BENGALI: Más de 100 personas asistieron en la primera misa de idioma Bengalí el domingo pasado. Tenemos un buen comienzo. La próxima misa en Bengalí será el domingo, 8 de Diciembre a las 5:30 en la Capilla. Habrá confesiones de 4:30 PM hasta las 5:30 PM en la Capilla. Padre Nirmal Costa nuestro Vicario Parroquial nuevo celebrara la misa. Después de la misa habrá refrescos en Heafey Hall. Las comunidades Bangladesí e Indias invitan a todos los que hablen el idioma Bengalí a asistir a esta misa. Pd. Nirmal ofrece la misa en ingles cada martes en la Capilla y está disponible en la Oficina Parroquial para hablar con cualquier persona durante el día. FIESTA DE OKTOBERFEST: Nuestra fiesta comenzará a la 1:00 PM este jueves en Heafey Hall. Todos los boletos se vendieron! Favor de llegar con su boleto para su entrada y traiga su apetito! Tendremos Rifas para ayudar cubrir los gastos de la fiesta traigan dinero también! DIA DE CONFIRMACION: Felicidades a nuestros 85 jóvenes quienes recibieron el Sacramento de la Confirmación ayer. La última vez que tuvimos esta cantidad grande fue en el 1998 cuando el Señor Obispo Valero confirmo a 87! Estamos muy felices de ver a estos jóvenes en nuestros grupos de jóvenes y asistiendo en la vida de la parroquia. Favor de mantenerlos en sus oraciones durante este tiempo lleno-de-gracia.
