Request for Public s Help in Recent Homicides: Wednesday, August 15, :40 PM Homicide with a Gun 1600 block of Innes Avenue A Bayview resident fell victim to gun violence while standing on the 1600 block of Innes Avenue. Wednesday, August 15, :05 PM Homicide 1200 block of Newhall Street CS# A 17 year old Bayview Resident was shot in the head late Wednesday on the 1200 block of Newhall Street. He succumbed to his injuries later the next day. Thursday, August 17, :55 AM Homicide Nichols Way CS# A man was found dead, a victim of a gunshot wound, by police in the Double Rock Housing Project. In the man s possession was a car stereo. A car was nearby and it appeared to be recently broken into and its stereo missing. If you have information related to the above incident, please call the anonymous tip line at (415) The tip line is staffed 24 hours a day and calls are not recorded. The anonymity of the caller will be respected in all cases. Those persons who come forward with information, and have concerns regarding their safety, may be eligible for Witness Protection Program services. Captain Albert Pardini Commanding Officer Bayview Station Public Interest National Drunk Driving Crackdown For the remainder of the summer through Labor Day weekend there will be a nationwide crack down on drunk driving. Drunk driving is one of America s most often committed and deadliest crimes. In 2005, nearly 13,000 people were killed in highway crashes involving a driver with a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) level in excess of.08%. 1

Neighborhood Empowerment Network (NEN) Join fellow San Franciscans for this first of its kind event, an all day summit that will offer a "one stop shop" for people who want make their neighborhood a better place to live. The Summit will feature a resource fair and break out sessions that are designed to not only raise awareness of great programs, but also explain with real life examples how to implement them to improve your community. 3 The San Francisco African American Historical & Cultural Society s Lecture Series. The second of a three part lecture series on Race, Reparations and History: How the African American Past can Remake America s Racial Future. Will be held on Sunday, August 26th, :00 5:00 PM at the African American Art and Culture Complex at 762 Fulton Street. Manning Marable, Ph.D. will lecture. The Third and Final part will be on September 16, SFO Airport Crash Exercise The San Francisco Airport will conduct its annual full-scale crash exercise on Wednesday, September 12, 2007 and they seek volunteers. The exercise will run from 9AM 12 Noon. Volunteers would be required to arrive at 6:00 AM or 8:00AM depending on the role that they play. Volunteers may simulate injured passengers or family members that would arrive on scene. The exercise will be conducted on a non-air worthy aircraft on a tarmac. There will be no luxuries such as air-conditioning; portable lavatories will be on the tarmac. Lunch and refreshments will be provided. Walk For Food Allergy More than 12 million people in the U.S.A. suffer from food allergies, including over 2 million school-aged children. Sadly there is currently no cure for food allergies. The national non-profit organization The Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Network (FAAN) is working to change that, and you can help! FAAN is holding a national fundraising event, Walk for Food Allergy: Moving Toward A Cure in 20 cities across the country. The Walk for Food Allergy in San Francisco will be in Golden Gate Park at the Music Concourse, in front of the de Young Museum. The Walk for Food Allergy in San Francisco is Saturday, September 15th. 4 Employment Opportunities New Police Department Hiring Process: The San Francisco Police Department is actively hiring eligible candidates and has begun an Accelerated Police Officer Hiring Program. Candidates are instructed to show up to any of the upcoming test dates. They must bring valid photo identification. Candidates will take the Written Examination and complete the Personal History Questionnaire in the same day. Applicants must be at least 20 years old, have a valid driver s license, and not be convicted of a crime that would prohibit them from carrying a firearm. Crimes and Law Enforcement THE BELOW LISTED INCIDENTS WERE SUBMITTED BY INDIVIDUALS OF BAYVIEW STATION: Monday, August 13, :10 AM Robbery with a gun, arrest made Newcomb Avenue and Lane Street CS# A man was walking home from the bus stop when he was approached by three gunman that demanded his money. One of the robbers took twelve dollars from the man s pocket and they fled the scene. Officers Cabuntala and Ma drove the victim around the area and found the suspects in the 1500 block of Palou Avenue. The suspects were detained. Nearby, under a car, two revolvers were located. Two adults, and one juvenile were booked for robbery charges. Incidentally, one of the adults has an open case for weapons possession and was a recent victim of a gun shot wound. Monday, August 13, :40 AM, Stolen Vehicle, Arrest Made Bayshore Boulevard/Paul Avenue - CS# Officer Laffey and Dalton were driving on Bayshore Boulevard when Officer Laffey saw a woman running from a car that was stalled in the intersection of Bayshore Boulevard and Paul Avenue. Believing that something was wrong they went to find the woman. They found her a block away throwing her jacket into another car parked on the Corner of Wheat Street and Paul Avenue. That car had its motor running but its keys were missing. Another woman was sitting in the passenger 4

5 seat. Both women were detained. A computer search revealed that the car left abandoned in the intersection and the car that the woman was running to be both reported stolen. Both women were booked. Monday, August 13, :52 PM Aggravated Assault with a gun 3rd Street and Newcomb Avenue - CS# An eighteen year old Bayview resident was a victim of a gun shot wound as he stood on the corner of 3rd Street and Newcomb Avenue. The wounds were non-life threatening. Witnesses reported seeing a black male fleeing the area in a silver Pontiac. Surveillance tapes are being reviewed for more leads. Monday, August 13, :00 PM Possession of an Assault Rifle 1100 block of Oakdale Avenue CS# Bayview Officer responded to the scene of an argument where shots have been fired. Upon their arrival they met with security guards that stated that they saw a male fire an assault style rifle and flee into a home. Bayview Officer received permission from the home that the person was seen running into. They went inside and found the man that the security guards saw fire the gun. The man was brought into custody and the gun was located. The man, a member of the Oakdale Mob that has been served with the gang injunction, was booked for weapons related charges. Wednesday, August 15, :01 AM Discharging a Firearm Double Rock Court CS# Bayview Units responded to the area of Double Rock Court on a report of someone firing a gun. A witness was able to give the call taker a description of the car and a partial license plate. A car matching that description was seen fleeing the area and police attempted to stop it with no avail. The car was later found at the scene of the original shooting. The car was left open and was searched. Inside was a.40 caliber handgun. The gun was seized and is undergoing forensic testing. The car was towed. Thursday, August 17, :01 AM Aggravated Assault 3rd Street and Thornton Avenue CS# Bayview Officers Graves and Jackson reported that a man was struck in the head with an ax handle. The victim told police that he was approached by two men who asked him where they could buy drugs. As the victim was telling the men where they could buy drugs one of the men struck the man in the back of the head with the ax handle. The man ran to his sister s house for aid. While the police were questioning him, the sister urged the victim to tell the truth. It is believed that their maybe more to the story than the victim let on. Sunday, August 19, :00 PM Parole Violation False Information to a Police Officer - CS# Bayview Bike Officers Martin and Festa spotted a woman drinking a beer on the 1600 block of McKinnon Avenue. They 5

6 detained her and performed a records check with the name that she gave them. They were unable to find any record of the woman. She was brought back to the station and identified by the fingerprint machine. She had good reason to lie; she was a parolee at large.
