TGIF - Friday night short ride to dinner MEET- 6:30-7 Every Friday night at Valco shopping mall - lower parking lot behind and across the street from JC Penny's Rides going NorthEast - Mervyn's parking lot on E. Calaveras Blvd. Milpitas (hwy 237 & 680) Rides North to SF - Mercado Theater Santa Clara on Frontage Rd. off Great America Parkway. This is the meeting place for rides that take us North along Hwys 101 or 85 (San Francisco, Marin, Eureka). Rides South - Holiday Inn at Bernal Rd and 101 South. Please note all meeting places except (TGIF Friday night rides) are subject to change, both in location and times to meet. 4 In the Chapter Our chapter Garage Sale/fund raiser was a success again this year. We had three days of chapter support, sales, and good weather. We even had a painless method of disposing of items not sold by being able to donate all of our "left-overs" to Del Mar High. Their own flea market will be September 9th. Special thanks to John & Debbie Watt for donating their driveway, tables and various other emenities (coffee, toilets, etc.), the Shewey's & Birthelmer's awnings, Neitro's 3 tables, Loyd's 1 table, Cook's saw horses, and all the wonderful dontations of sale items great and small, and all the hard work of those who 'maned' the affair Check our web site: for further calendar times and fun times. Verdi Chapter Leader Changes Cliff & Lois Benzel Step Down as Asst. CD Cliff Benzel, with wife Lois, has tendered his resignation as Assistant Chapter Director late June. They recently sold their Gold Wing to Bob and Irene Neitro of Milpitas, who in their own right, have become active members. Cliff took this into consideration when choosing between a local couple and a gentleman from the Mantica area. The Benzel's will continue to receive the newsletter and join us when the whim and destination hit the fun button. We wish to thank the Benzels for their many contributions to the chapter over the many years as GWRRA and Ca2S members. These many contributions include: Assistant Chapter Director, Couple Of the Year, Newsletter Editor, Shutter Bug of many rides contributing photos to the newsletter and to those members (un)fortunate to be in Cliff's cross-hairs. And certainly not least of all these contributions, Party Hosts of many chapter gatherings in their beautiful home. Not only did they open their home to us, but they also did some upgrades, such as a finishing up a pool/game room in conjunction with a chapter party and a kitchen remodel. I know these upgrades were all in the works, but it was wonderful to see the improvements as they went along. All our best to Cliff and Lois! 4 17

Interfaces nicely with the rest of the Trike Actually unloads the Steering stem bearings, thus increasing longevity. Zero negative effect on extra caster that is needed in all Trikes for stability. Right / Left caster trim for pull compensation. Modern typical two wheel Motorcycles all share a common set of parameters relevant to the handling underway. To steer these vehicles typically requires leaning of the body to cause direction change, and some input to the handlebars also assists steering. Although these forces are tolerable in a two wheel application, in a three wheel application these forces become dramatically more difficult because of a geometry change in a three wheel application. Although, this invention is capable of fine tuning the steering forces of any two wheel motorcycle, the real advantage is realized in a three wheel application as the effects and force required for turning are greatly increased. In a three wheel application, body lean is of little consequence and input to the handlebars is the only means to steer. The Invention through mechanical means, can remove any amount of force required to steer by virtue of adjustment. This causes a more desirable operating environment for the operator. CD Change (Deja vu). And more Chapter Leader Changes This is to let you know that Les Cook is no longer Chapter Director (CD). Les has reached a point in his life where he wants to capture some of the things he didn't do as a young man, such as higher education. Because of this schedule he felt he should initiate some changes for the good of the Chapter. We will see him from time to time, and will miss his leadership. And they ve had a great supporting cast to help. You ll notice several other changes. The chapter continues to look for volunteers. If you ve got a desire to do something, just speak up. Lynn has threatened retirement from Chapter Educator and we need someone to fill that. So speak up!] 5

7 Hello Fellow Wingers It s getting close to the end of summer vacation and time to be getting ready for the new school year. That means back to school shopping for clothes, school supplies, dorm room supplies and what ever else the kids can come up with. OH GOODIE!!! Except for those of you who are retired, single, or have no kids to care for anymore and have plenty of free time still available. This is the time to go out and buy plenty of chrome and other goodies for that Wing and spend the time on those undesirable riding days applying all of those fancy items to your 2 nd love (or in some cases your 1 st love, The Wing of course). Alright now on to chapter stuff, September 1 st 4 th is the District Rally at the Marriott Hotel in Santa Clara. Hope to see everyone there sometime throughout the weekend. September 9 th will be our Beach BBQ, the 16 th is the Ca2N Run for the Gold, the 23 rd is the CaC Harvest Run, and the 30 th is the Ca2J Rollin on the River Event. 8 Golden State Gems Greetings and Salutations friends. California District Rally, Sept 1-3 Mardi Gras This is going to be a short article this month as we are all as busy as one armed paper hangers getting ready for the 2006 District Rally in Santa Clara. By the time you read this, it will be history and next month we will tell you all about it. Obviously, it s too late to ask you to attend, but we are sure everyone had a good time. How could you not? We (mostly Rick) spent a small fortune at Oriental Trading Company to support the Mardi Gras theme. If we have lots of beads left over, you might be seeing them at your chapter meetings until they are gone. Or, don t be surprised to see people in your chapter who did attend, come back festooned with a neck full of beads. Festooned? When is the last time you heard anybody use that in a sentence? Oh well, you know what I mean There is one small bit of actual business we need to tell you about. We have been told by GW headquarters that the next edition of the Gold Book will only include members who have opted to include their phone numbers. The reasoning behind this is that the Gold Book has always been intended as a resource for members. If you don t give us your phone number, you can t very well expect anybody to ring you up for help can you? That being said, please consider changing your profile with headquarters to include your phone number and any services you might be willing to provide. You can see what kind of adventures other members have had using the Gold Book every month in Wing World. Why would you want to exclude yourself from this kind of fun? OK, enough of that. 8 13

9 Pismo Beach Ride Aug 16 Last, but not least, we have decided to step down as District Directors at the end of this year. This has been a difficult decision since Rick and I have been having lots of fun running the Queendom, but it s time to take a break. Believe it or not, we have some NON GW friends out there and they miss us. We have spent virtually all of our vacation time for the past 10 years on GWRRA events and we re looking forward to some down time. We ll see if that actually happens. Anita and JR have already started scheming about how they can continue to lure us out on the road once they have taken over the reigns. It looks like that s all for now.
