Acorn A s Our 44th Year The NutShell April 2015 Spring has sprungapparently early. So make sure the car is ready, Get the picnic basket readylots of water and lets go touring.

I will be leading one-at least-probably more than that. The more we get the cars out and about, the more people will see us having fun.

1 Acorn A s Our 44th Year The NutShell April 2015 Spring has sprungapparently early. So make sure the car is ready, Get the picnic basket readylots of water and lets go touring. Our tour master George and his teams created a list of places to go and visit. If you have not lead a tour a long time I will ask you to lead one with as much help as you need. I will be leading one-at least-probably more than that. The more we get the cars out and about, the more people will see us having fun. Mike BRAKE SEMINAR April 16th, 9 am Corner of Harder and Dollar St., Hayward. Bring your Model A and adjust the brakes to stop like new. Expert help and instructions will be available as will tools and jacks. If you have jack stands please bring them. We will be in the lot of the old garden center behind the fence. Enter off Dollar St. and through the gate. Signup at the April 14th meeting or call George Diamantine. 2 Page 2 2 Meeting Minutes NutShell President Mike Cozad called the meeting March 10, 2015 to order at 7:35 and welcomed everyone. Carol Lowe moved to approve the minutes as published in the NutShell, Kathy Morte 2 nd and the motion carried. Attendance: Marty Baptista reported 21 families and 33 members in attendance tonight. Sunshine: Bea Van Wetter happily announced no one was ill this past month. She called the members names with a March birthday, none were present so we skipped the happy birthday song. It was announced that Ida De Mello is home and Ken is her care giver, so he isn t able to get out. Cards and wishes of support would be appreciated. Membership was reported by Bill Biddell who announced we had 45 members and as of tonight only 4 members have not renewed. Nutshell: Bill Biddell asked everyone to have their articles and especially any pictures turned in to him by March 20 to be published in this month s NutShell. Accessories: Anne Biddell had a great deal tonight on gear shift knobs with an Acorn A s emblem selling for just $5. Fashion: no report Historian: Brian McGarry brought the scrap book from NCRG: no report although Mike Anderson pointed out the NCRG website is linking to an old 2013 NutShell. He asked if someone could contact the NCRG to find out what we need to do to get a current newsletter on their website. Bill Biddell is ing the newsletter every month but it evidently isn t getting linked properly. Public Relations: Brian McGarry let us know that we will be leaving Creekside this Saturday, March 14 at 8 AM for the Dublin St. Patrick s Day parade. The organizers have moved up the timeline for lining up. Everyone will have time to decorate their cars in the line-up. Secretary s Report: Mona Diamantine read several announcements regarding upcoming swap meets, the Central California Regional meeting and invitations to join another Classic Car Organization. Webmaster: No report but get a picture of your car General December Meeting 17, 2005 March 10, 2015 to Bob Woodford who will put it on the website. Treasurer s Report Stephen Danzer reported $ in the checking account, $19, in the savings account and we received 15 cents interest last month. Old Business: None New Business & Tour Master: George Diamantine asked Bill Biddell to report on the February 3 rd Thursday tour and Tony Shull to report on the Valentines tour. Coming up Bill Biddell will lead a 3 rd Thursday tour to the Hayward Historical Society on March 19, leaving Creekside at 10 AM. Lunch will be at the Cannery restaurant inside the HHS. Admission is $5 to tour the museum. The Biddell s will also host a seminar on Model A Safety, power and vibration along with the Fabric group on March 21 st at the Biddell s home. Bill requested members sign up for the meeting because lunch will be served. Bill and Anne will also lead a tour on April 18 th to the Tilden Park Steam Train club. There will be picnic/bbq and members who want to go need to pay $5 each for the BBQ. Bill asked everyone to bring their own utensils and plates. The tour will leave Creekside at 9:30. Mike Cozad is leading the May 22 tour to the NCRG in Sacramento so get a hold of Mike if you plan on attending. After the tour report George asked Club members to break out in smaller groups to brainstorm ideas for tours. Members were asked last month to bring a list of up to 5 places they would be interested in touring to and be prepared to discuss those ideas this month. Two groups came up with 16 tour ideas and another group signed up for four tours with George. George thanked everyone for their participation and asked the groups to send him the lists of tours their group came up with at the meeting. Shake Award: no recipients this month Refreshments for tonight were brought by Dahlia Amaral, Gail Baxley and Kathy Morte. Signups for the April meeting are Cathy Martin, Linda Rodrigues and Tony Shull. Raffle: Denise Peters held the raffle. 5 Page 5 Steam Train Tour April 18th 9:30 AM departure Cost $5 pp for lunch (members and guests only) Leaving Creekside Center we will drive the back roads to Tilden Park, above Berkeley to the Golden Gate Live Steamers Club, where we we ll ride the trains. Then at noon there will be a BBQ lunch. You will need to bring plates and silverware. The cost of the tour is $5.00 to cover the cost of lunch., kids under 8 are free. You can ride the larger train for a cost of $3. This is a great place to bring grandkids. We will have use of the Golden Gate Live Steamers parking lot and picnic grounds. You must sign up and pay prior to April 16th. The total tour is 46 miles and we will be back in town about 3 pm. You can signup and pay at the April meeting or call Bill Biddell. 7 Page 7 Yosemite and Eastern Sierra Tour July 7 to 12, 2015 We are planning a tour to Yosemite and the Eastern Sierra in July of The tour will be 6 days and 5 nights with 2 nights in Yosemite and two nights in a Nevada casino. The dates are July 7 to 12. If you are interested in taking this tour please contact Bill Biddell and mention tour A-715. This is so we can book rooms early. We will collect a deposit in April for those who want to lock in their spot. We will leave at 10 am on Tuesday 7th and be back in town on Sunday the 12th at about 4 pm.
