2 REPORT ON EVENTS Report on Valentine Party Thirty six members and guest gathered at the 57th Fighter Group Restaurant on Saturday February 6 for our annual Valentine Party. Everyone reported to having a pleasant evening. The dinner was outstanding, the service was prompt, and conversation lively. After drinks and dinner the men sang Let Me Call You Sweetheart. and presented a red rose to their lady. Jerry McIntosh observed that the men s choral group was never better. An ambiguous message to be sure. We thank bob Padovano for leading the singing, Mary Ann for bringing the lyrics, and Nancy Bireley for the flowers. Most of all, we thank the Georgia Regional Group for paying three quarters of the cost. JANUARY TOUR MODEL RAILROAD VISIT Members of Regional Group #24 assembled at a Dunkin Doughnuts in Chamblee on a recent Monday morning. After some delicious doughnuts and coffee, the group drove to Dr. Nichols home in Dunwoody where he and his wife Jean greeted us and invited us to the basement where the layout is located. This HO model train layout was started in the early 1960 s and it now fills the entire basement. He is a superb modeler and there are numerous trains and structures reflecting his modeling skills. He had three members of his operating group there to operate the trains while he explained details of the layout. Jerry and Vina McIntosh had two grandchildren there and they were invited back to operate trains. Children and big kids love trains. Jean and Dr. Nichols are excellent hosts. They and the operators joined our group at the Memphis BBQ restaurant in Dunwoody for lunch. The restaurant was suggested by Dr. Nichols and he was correct, this was a great place to eat. The food was delicious and the service was outstanding. We lacked for nothing. Lenny Major had BBQ spaghetti and he said it was very good. Following lunch, we all returned home.

President Jerry Reichel presided. After an invocation by Bill Swilley, the President led us in the Pledge of Allegiance. The meeting was then temporarily adjourned for supper. After supper the meeting reconvened and the President asked for information from Lorraine Steele, our Sunshine Lady, about those of our members who are ill. Bert Steele was present at the meeting while recovering from surgery last week. The President asked for approval of the minutes of the January meeting. which was done by motion and second with no one voting to object. Bert Steele, Treasurer, gave the treasurer s report: Bert Steele reported that $92 has been collected during the last month from dues, $14 from interest; the balance in the checking account is $3,864; the balance in the two certificates of deposit is $30,585. He said 73 persons have paid dues for Upon a motion and a second, the membership voted to accept the Treasurer s report. Bob Schwartz reported that he needs articles for monthly Runningboard newsletter by the 20 th of each month. John Caldwell reported that our Facebook page is just not taking off. We need to tell folks about it and post car photos on it, too. Fred Lindquist reported that the visit to see the model train layout of Dr. Joe Nichols in Dunwoody must be postponed as he is ill. The visit will be rescheduled. Lamar Hart reported that the Valentine s Day party on February 6 has been sold out. All 36 seats have been taken. Jerry Reichel reported that a tour to see the Panoz facility in Hall County has been set for March 5. The Caddy Club will probably join us. We are to assemble at the Burger King Restaurant at the Hamilton Mill exit of I-85. The time will be circulated later. We will have lunch at Chateau Elan after touring the Panoz operations. Fred Lindquist reported that the tour to Panola Mountain in south Dekalb County will be held on April 23. He also reported that he is still trying to arrange a tour of the Hindu Temple in Lilburn during the month of June and the Great Locomotive Chase in October. Lamar Hart reported that the annual Easter Parade in Avondale Estates is still in the works with the Model A Club being the hosts this year, the 18 th year we have participated. We are to assemble at the same shopping center as always but the refreshments will be served in the town of Avondale since the park is under re-construction. Jerry reported that he and Bob Padovano with their wives will be attending the National Meet in Tulsa, Oklahoma this summer. He, also, asked about our interest in attending a Gwinnett Braves game on a Sunday afternoon this summer. There are only a few Sunday afternoon games this year and many members do not want to drive there at night. A few persons expressed interest. Lamar and Jerry reported on the National Tour to the Blue Ridge Parkway in September. They said we can accommodate up to 30 persons because of the limited availability of motel rooms. We are to contact Lamar if we wish to get on the list of those who want to participate. Fred Lindquist asked for volunteers to give a 15 minute presentation at a Club meeting about their employment or other matters that interest them. Jerry Reichel announced that the next meeting of the Board of Directors would be held February 9 at Burns Cox s garage. There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned. Respectfully submitted, E. Dale Dewberry, Secretary

7 THE EARLY FORD V8 CLUB OF AMERICA, INC. REGIONAL GROUP 24 BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING of FEBURARY The Board of Directors of Regional Group #24 held its scheduled monthly meeting at the Burns Cox garage on February 9, 2016, convening at 7:00 PM. President Jerry Reichel presided. The Directors present were Bob Padovano, Lamar Hart, Dick Anderson, Jerry Reichel, John Caldwell, Bert Steele, Fred Lindquist, Jerry McIntosh and Dale Dewberry. The Minutes of the January Board meeting were accepted without discussion. Bert Steele gave a Treasurer s report. He said that we have $2, in our checking account, $30,585 in two certificates of deposit; that $1, was expended on the Valentine s Day Party. Jerry said it was about the same cost as last year and that it was a good party. Jerry, in Bob Schwartz absence, said that club member, Terry Barovitcky, has volunteered to scan the photos from Burns Cox albums and the cost will be minimal. Jerry and Bob Padovano reported that after we tour the Panoz facilities on March 5 we will go across the street to visit the Big Dog racing shop before going to lunch at Chateau Elan. There was a general discussion of upcoming events and tours led by Lamar, Fred, Bob and Jerry. The schedule for 2016 was discussed at length: February 15, Club tour to see the model railroad layout of Dr. Joe Nichols, Sr. in Dunwoody; March 27, Easter Parade in Avondale Estates; Lamar reported that the Model A Club will be hosts this year and that many other car clubs have been invited. April 23, Club tour to Panola Mountain State Park in south Dekalb County; we are to assemble at the strip shopping center next to the QT store at the intersection of Clairmont and Briarcliff Rd. Saturday, May 21, a tour of the Hindu Temple in Lilburn followed lunch at the Varsity Restaurant near the intersection of Jimmy Carter Blvd and I-85. June 11-14, Central National Meet in Tulsa, Oklahoma. July 9, technical session at Reichel s garage; August, nothing planned but Jerry will pursue the idea of a group tour to a Gwinnett Braves game. September RG #24 sponsored National Tour in the Blue Ridge Mountains (maximum of cars); Jerry reported that the Club will be putting registration forms on the National Website by March 1, Written material will be mailed to registrants by April 1, He pointed out that those who attend will need to be in Asheville on the night of September 18 in order to start the tour on the morning of the 19 th. Registration will cost $45 which will include both a welcoming and a farewell reception. There will be an optional train ride that costs $75 per person. Jerry asked that we all try to attend every Tucker Cruise-In during 2016 and solicit new members. Lamar announced that a telephone committee is being organized by the wives of members. Jerry asked for a discussion of how to obtain new members as our group is dwindling. Lamar said we must attend cruise-ins and speak with prospective members, giving out our Club business cards. John Caldwell reported that our website has produced nothing in the way of a prospective member. Dick Anderson proposed sending copies of our monthly newsletter to nonmembers to try to create attention. All agreed to try it for a few months and Bob agreed to add their addresses to his current list. Jerry led a discussion of the idea of having T-Shirts, caps and denim shirts printed by Greg Barner as he discussed last month. There was interest in them but not enough to place an order now. Several directors spoke against the idea of purchasing banana flags to be setup at cruise-ins. Jerry decided to table the idea until next month. Fred reported that Bob Padovano will deliver several minute talks at Club meetings about Snap-On Tools. Jerry pointed out that there will be a cruise-in at the Hickory House on Saturday, February 13. There being no other business to be considered, the meeting was duly adjourned. Respectfully submitted, Dale Dewberry, Secretary
