A little boy had a choking episode that required urgent medical attention. An ex-paramedic was able to assist and a call to 000 brought an ambulance to the scene within a few minutes. We believe the outcome to be favourable but are awaiting confirmation. Many thanks to all the Rotarians who were able to assist. As well as ourselves there were representatives from the Rotary clubs of Cheltenham, Sandringham, and Dingley. Lisa Alexander gave an interesting explanation on how she got into millinery and Greg Ross gave an inspirational talk on the need for the Lift the Lid campaign. Cheques to the total value of $7,740 were presented to Australian Rotary Health, via Greg. And we came away with many of the prizes on offer. Some photos of the event are included on page 3. We followed up by making the Lift the Lid campaign a focus of the Farmers Market on Saturday (photos on page 4). I am informed that the twenty or so members, partners and friends who attended the High Tea held by the Cheltenham Rotary Club on Sunday had an enjoyable time (see photo on page 5).

As always, members are welcome to come along and listen to proceedings though advance notice would be appreciated.

There is a second seminar for complete novices (Social Media 101) being run on Saturday morning 15 th October. Please check out the District 9810 website for details.

2 I am informed that the twenty or so members, partners and friends who attended the High Tea held by the Cheltenham Rotary Club on Sunday had an enjoyable time (see photo on page 5). The money raised will go to the End Polio campaign. There will be a board meeting at my place on this Tuesday 11 th October at 6:00pm. As always, members are welcome to come along and listen to proceedings though advance notice would be appreciated. Chris D Arcy and I will be attending the District 9810 seminar on social media this Friday 14 th October. There is a second seminar for complete novices (Social Media 101) being run on Saturday morning 15 th October. Please check out the District 9810 website for details. We have agreed to support the Beaumaris Art Group (BAG) with its Twilight Art Show on Friday 28 th October by manning a sausage sizzle. Clem Quick has already met with BAG president Michele Laragy to sort out the details and will be calling for volunteers soon. Please remember that the meeting at the Victoria Golf Club on the 13 th October has been replaced with the Rail & Sail Day on Sunday 16 October. David Langworthy has promised good weather for this event so come along and enjoy a day on rail and sail. It will also give you the opportunity to check out the venue for the District Conference (The Pier at Geelong) as well as the accommodation we have booked. Yours in Rotary Malcolm THURSDAY 17 th NOVEMBER ONE FOR THE POT BEAUMARIS THEATRE A comedy directed by Keith Hutton Jonathan Hardcastle, a wealthy mill owner, wants to pay tribute to a late employee and close friend by giving a handsome amount of cash to the person he believes to be the only surviving relative of the deceased, namely his son Billy, providing there are no other surviving relatives. Hardcastle places an advertisement in the newspaper to trace Billy and that s when the fun starts.! Cabaret Seating B.Y.O. drinks and nibbles $25 per head Bookings now open.
