Profiling Youth at Risk An Interactive Two Part Workshop Presenter: Paul Boivin Presented in two parts (Part I on Friday evening and Part II on Saturday evening), this interactive and collaborative workshop will challenge your handwriting skills to uncover the traits that challenge today s youth at risk. Let s discover some new and key insights from a broad range of handwriting samples as to what distinguishes the successful from the not so successful. Is everything still the same under the sun, or are there unique pressures showing up with today s youth that appears in their handwriting? Having worked with youth at risk, Paul will openly share his insights, samples, and experiences over the past 8 years. Come join the fun. Learn a little, laugh a little and share your thoughts! 2. The Importance of Handwriting Why Keep Up the Skill Set? Presenter: Edda Manley The question, Why continue to learn cursive writing?, has often been asked. It piqued Edda Manley s curious mind enough that she decided to delve into the topic to discover the importance of learning this skill. In this presentation, Edda will share the results of her research and enlighten us as to why cursive writing really IS important. Edda Manley received her CGA designation in In 1995 she completed her AAHA examination, and is currently serving as Vice President- Region 1 Canada for AAHA. She has conducted a bi-weekly study group in Burlington for the past 12 years. Earlier this year, Edda taught an Introductory Course in Handwriting Analysis at Mohawk College in Hamilton, Ontario. She freely admits that handwriting analysis is her magnificent obsession, and as there is always so much more to learn and to share, it continues to keep her humble. Page 2 of 6

3 3. Stalkers and Stalking What does Handwriting Reveal? Presenter: Graham Ospreay Stalking is defined as criminal behaviour in the US. In Canada it is defined as criminal harassment. Whether it s a stalker or a cyberstalker, they all have one thing in common the stalker interferes with the other person s ability to control their own life. And what about their victims? What does that profile look like? Graham Ospreay will provide us with some fascinating views. Graham P. Ospreay, FACFE, CSP, is a court-qualified document examiner and a forgery analyst. His areas of expertise include comparison and identification of signatures, anonymous letters and graffiti; threat and risk assessment; document security; authentication and identification of fine art, trademarks and counterfeit products; and, fraud and identity theft investigation. 4. The Four Harmonies A Hands-on Technique Whereby Four Aspects of Handwriting are Analyzed Presenter: Michal Naftali It s all about balance! Within this hands-on workshop Michal will illustrate how four aspects of handwriting are analyzed. Michal s technique includes: 1. The balance between movement, stroke and pressure 2. The balance between the three zones 3. The balance between the writing itself (the black) and the spaces between letters, words and rows (the white) 4. The balance between angular and rounded letter formations Michal studied graphology under her father, a widely-recognized and highly-respected physician and graphologist in Israel. A second generation graphologist, Michal has written 8 papers in graphology and received her Master s degree in psychodrama in Michal currently has clients throughout the world and employs four graphologists who assist with psychological profiling. Teacher and trainer, proud mother and grandmother, Michal has presented to Edda Manley s group while visiting her family here in Canada. Page 3 of 6
