1 ACCOMMODATIONS If you require accommodations during the NYCEA Conference for one or more nights (e.g., Friday, October 9/Saturday, October 10), you will need to make reservations. Listed below are nine lodgings to be found within about 1 to 3 miles from the Hilbert College campus. All are near, or relatively so, to Exit 56 or Exit 57 of Interstate-90. All quoted group rates have been negotiated individually with each of the participating nine inns/motels. In acknowledging the arrangements established, it is very unlikely that better deals for given properties can be had through the Internet. Properties with comparatively higher reduced rates reflect somewhat more amenities or higher expectations regarding their respective qualities. Properties with lower reduced rates are perhaps somewhat more spartan by comparison. Certainly bargains are to be had among the nine, but it is good to remember that one gets what one pays for and to plan accordingly. The following pages offer basic information for each inn or motel relative to your decision. Such information may vary from one property to another, so be sure to follow directions pertaining to the particular inn/motel in which you are interested; e.g., number to call, type of rooms available, group code/rates, cut-off date for group rate. A Last Note: If one seeks further luxury (sans group rate reductions) and is willing to drive a greater distance (c. 14 miles), downtown Buffalo itself has several hotels to be recommended, such as Adam s Mark, the Hyatt Regency, and the Lafayette Hotel.

TRAIN TRAVEL Those traveling by train, for example, from downstate New York with intent to rent a vehicle for transportation to the college in Hamburg, NY (or to one s inn/motel of choice, for example, in Hamburg or Blasdell, NY), may wish to exit the train at the Depew station, rather than the Buffalo station. The Depew station is a relatively short taxi ride to the Buffalo Niagara International Airport, where car rental agencies can be accessed (see Air Travel ). Exiting at the Buffalo station might entail a taxi ride to a downtown car rental, such as Enterprise Rent-a-Car (1312 Main Street, Buffalo, NY 14209; ). BUS TRAVEL Those traveling by bus will want to end their trip at the NFTA-Metro terminal fronting N. Division Street in downtown Buffalo (Information, ), where taxis are parked outside to facilitate transportation to car rentals like Enterprise (see Train Travel for the downtown Enterprise address/phone number) for the drive to the college in Hamburg, NY (or to one s inn/motel of choice, for example, in Hamburg or Blasdell, NY). If no taxi is present, then inside the terminal between Gates 8 and 9 is a service desk (Buffalo Transportation, ) where taxis can be called.

5 5 ACCESS ROUTES TO HILBERT COLLEGE CAMPUS, HAMBURG, NY LOCATION OF CAMPUS: GENERAL DESCRIPTION Hilbert College is located on over 40 acres in the Town of Hamburg, County of Erie, in Western New York, 14 miles south of the city of Buffalo, New York. The campus is reached by city bus or by car through the numerous county and state arterial routes, which make it easily accessible from all directions. It is equidistant from Exits 56 and 57 of I-90, the New York State Thruway. The main entrance to the campus is from South Park Avenue, New York Route 62, just south of Route 20, which runs east and west. See area map enclosed. The entrance road to the campus leads to a traffic circle, which directs students, faculty, and visitors to conveniently located parking lots. Conference activities will take place in Paczesny Hall, the adjacent West-Herr Atrium, and the adjoining Swan Auditorium. See area and campus maps. Registration sign-in will take place in the West-Herr Atrium. DIRECTIONS BY CAR TO HILBERT COLLEGE, HAMBURG, NY 1. From Buffalo, NY: Take Rt. 33 the Kensington Expressway (East) to Interstate-90 (I-90) West. Take Exit 56 (Blasdell, NY) or Exit 57 (Hamburg, NY). Exit 56: Turn right on Milestrip Road (Rt. 179 West). Turn left on South Park Ave. (Rt. 62 South). After crossing Rt. 20, you will come to the Hilbert College campus on the left (beyond the Immaculata High School campus). Turn left onto entrance drive and from there to designated parking C/D/E or A/C/E lots as shown on campus map. Exit 57: Take Route 75 North exit, which leads onto Camp Rd. (Rt. 75 North). Turn right on Southwestern Blvd. (Rt. 20 East). Take first right (Sowles Rd.). Turn left on U.S. 62, which is South Park Ave. (Rt. 62 North). To the right (just beyond the former Franciscan Sisters of St. Joseph Convent on the right) is the Hilbert College campus. From Greater Buffalo International Airport: Take Rt. 33 Kensington Expressway (West) to I-90 (West). Take Exit 56 or 57 and follow directions for the appropriate exit in #1 above.
