4 Day 1: Saturday 12th May, 2018 HOME TO PORT STEPHENS Welcome to our 10 Day tour to the North Coast of New South Wales and two delightful Ports - Port Stephens and Port Macquarie. After our complimentary home pick up service we head off to Melbourne Airport for our mid day flight to Newcastle. On arrival our O Shannessy s Touring Coach will meet us and transfer us to our accommodation at the Oaks Pacific Blue Resort, nestled amongst tropical gardens and close to the Salamander Bay Shopping Centre. Nearby is Port Stephens, with its magnificent volcanic headlands and spectacular bay. This will be our base for the next 4 nights as we explore the local area including Newcastle and the Hunter Valley. Lunch own arrangements & cost OVERNIGHT: Oaks Pacific Blue Resort, Salamander Bay Day 2: Sunday 13th May, 2018 NEWCASTLE - MORPETH - RAAF WILLIAMTOWN This morning we head south to take in some of the local sights of Newcastle, the state s second largest city and one of Australia s largest ports. Newcastle is a city of industry as well as history with its terraced houses, a majestic cathedral and ancient fort. There is a mixture of old and new. We take in both as we join the famous Talking Tram. The 45 minute ride through Newcastle s

streets, takes us past the sites of our convict past, fort and gaol, Australia s oldest school,

We then travel across to the charming village of Morpeth.

We then travel across to the charming village of Morpeth. The entire township is a time capsule - right down to the street kerbs and guttering of sandstone block. There is time to browse leisurely amongst the antiques stores, quaint art & craft galleries and curio stores. Our final stop for the day is the RAAF Williamtown for our visit to Fighter World, the world s first fighter aircraft display centre. It s here we see the history of the Royal Australian Air Force close up. Lunch own arrangements & cost OVERNIGHT: Oaks Pacific Blue Resort, Salamander Bay Day 3: Monday 14th May, 2018 THE HUNTER VALLEY We spend today in the nearby Hunter Valley our first stop is the Hunter Valley Gardens. Nestled at the foothills of the Brokenback Ranges, in the heart of the Hunter vineyards, we will find over 25 hectares of spectacular international display gardens that will amaze us with sensational sights, colours, fragrances and adventures of the stunning feature gardens. Bask in a lavish array of colour and scent

Mid morning we board our cruise boat for a morning tea cruise on the spectacular waterways of Port Stephens.

OVERNIGHT: Oaks Pacific Blue Resort, Salamander Bay Day 4: Tuesday 15th May, 2018 PORT STEPHENS This morning we take in the sights of Nelson Bay and the Tomaree Peninsula. Its easy to see why the area is referred to as the Blue Water Paradise! Our sightseeing takes us past all the major attractions including, Fingal Bay, Shoal Bay and Soldiers Point. Mid morning we board our cruise boat for a morning tea cruise on the spectacular waterways of Port Stephens. Relax, enjoy the commentary on the area and with any luck, we may meet some of the long time locals - the friendly dolphins. We then make our way to nearby Port Stephens Wines and Murray s Brewery. Established in 1984, this winery is nestled in the shade of beautiful Australian gums that are surrounded by the vineyard. We have arranged a delicious lunch as well as a wine tasting. The rest of the afternoon is free to shop, swim or relax around the Resort. OVERNIGHT: Oaks Pacific Blue Resort, Salamander Bay

Day 5: Wednesday 16th May, 2018 FORSTER AND NABIAC We depart Port Stephens this morning and head to Forster Tuncurry where we have the opportunity to see one of Australia s cleanest lakes - Wallis

Our luncheon cruise will take us on a tour of these crystal clear, pristine waters, home to a rich seafood harvest including the famous Wallis Lake oyster.

This is a purpose built complex that houses some 800 motorcycles together with an enormous array of motorcycle memorabilia, toys, an extensive private library and a motorcycle orientated gift shop.

7 Day 5: Wednesday 16th May, 2018 FORSTER AND NABIAC We depart Port Stephens this morning and head to Forster Tuncurry where we have the opportunity to see one of Australia s cleanest lakes - Wallis Lake. The lake stretches for 25 kilometres between Wallingat State Forest and a sliver of land that separates the lake from the sea. Our luncheon cruise will take us on a tour of these crystal clear, pristine waters, home to a rich seafood harvest including the famous Wallis Lake oyster. After disembarking we head across to the nearby town of Nabiac to visit the National Motorcycle Museum of Australia. This is a purpose built complex that houses some 800 motorcycles together with an enormous array of motorcycle memorabilia, toys, an extensive private library and a motorcycle orientated gift shop. Among the favourite machines on display are a Kenilworth scooter (1919), a twin cylinder water-cooled 2 stroke Scott, and a Vincent Black Knight. There is an excellent range of vintage bikes from the early nineteen hundreds and of course many interesting later machines. From here we continue north towards Port Macquarie our base for the next 5 nights. OVERNIGHT: Waters Edge, Port Macquarie Day 6: Thursday 17th May, 2018 PORT MACQUARIE AND THE BEST OF THE HASTINGS This morning we tour Port Macquarie and the Hastings area. From our hotel, we take a sightseeing tour of the historical sites of Port

including its oldest building, St Thomas Anglican Church built by the convicts in 1826.

We then visit the Koala Hospital and view the great work done by volunteers. (You can make a gold coin donation if you wish.

Next we visit Ricardoes Tomatoes & Strawberries Farm where we have lunch.

Our final visit for the day is to Sea Acres Rainforest Park. The Park comprises 72 hectares of rare coastal rainforest.

After a lovely day out we head back to the motel.

Our final visit for the day is to Sea Acres Rainforest Park. The Park comprises 72 hectares of rare coastal rainforest. We take a guided tour through this magnificent area and visit the Enviro-Theatre and the Ecology Display. After a lovely day out we head back to the motel. OVERNIGHT: Waters Edge, Port Macquarie Day 7: Friday 18th May, 2018 THE HINTERLAND This morning, we enjoy a cruise on the River Hastings through the everglade rainforest, navigating through 3 river systems seeing water lilies, pristine rainforest, huge elk horns, birds and wildlife in this fascinating environment. We ll enjoy morning tea onboard. Back on dry land, we head down the coast to Lake Cathie then onto Laurieton taking in the spectacular

As we re returning to the Port, we ll stop in at Cassegrain Winery for a tasting. Day 8: Saturday 19th May, 2018 THE NORTH COAST AND THE PUB WITH NO BEER!

9 OVERNIGHT: Waters Edge, Port Macquarie scenery of this coastline. After lunch in Laurieton we travel up North Brother Mountain for a magnificent view of the Camden Haven area. As we re returning to the Port, we ll stop in at Cassegrain Winery for a tasting. Day 8: Saturday 19th May, 2018 THE NORTH COAST AND THE PUB WITH NO BEER! Following breakfast we depart the motel and make our way north to South West Rocks where we take a sightseeing tour of the area and visit the Trial Bay Gaol and the Arakoon National Park. Work on the Trial Bay Gaol commenced in 1877 as an experiment in penal reform. Following our visit to the museum, we drive out to Taylors Arm to the Pub With No Beer, an Australian icon. For just over 100 years The Pub With No Beer has been dispensing Australia s most valuable liquid asset, beer. Legend has it, however, that it once ran out! One of Australia s most famous songs, The Pub With No Beer was recorded by Slim Dusty and became the biggest selling single in We ll enjoy lunch here (and maybe taste a growing range of onsite-brewed beer). We have time to view an array of artefacts and memorabilia, each with its own interesting history, which adorn the pub walls! This evening for something a little different we are going out for a Seafood buffet dinner at a local club. OVERNIGHT: Waters Edge, Port Macquarie

DAY 9: Sunday 20th May, 2018 WAUCHOPE After breakfast this morning we head to Roto House.

The property, originally 74 acres (30 hectares) consisted of an orchard, vineyard, creamery and flower garden.

Timbertown is a living museum set on 87 acres of Broken Bago State Forest and is an authentically re-created timber-getters village showcasing life as it was over 100 years ago.

10 DAY 9: Sunday 20th May, 2018 WAUCHOPE After breakfast this morning we head to Roto House. Located within Macquarie National Reserve this house was built in 1890 by James Condon for John Edmund Flynn, a land surveyor who settled in Port Macquarie in The property, originally 74 acres (30 hectares) consisted of an orchard, vineyard, creamery and flower garden. The house, built of red mahogany, is very generously proportioned, has been restored and is classified by National Trust. We then make our way to Wauchope. Timbertown is a living museum set on 87 acres of Broken Bago State Forest and is an authentically re-created timber-getters village showcasing life as it was over 100 years ago. They were the days when man worked with his hands - the smithy, shingle splitter, sleeper cutter and wood turner. This is also our lunch venue. Our last visit in the area is for an indulgent tasting at Vickers Fudge Shop before making our way back to our motel. OVERNIGHT: Waters Edge, Port Macquarie Day 10: Monday 21st May, 2018 PORT MACQUARIE TO HOME After breakfast this morning we make our way to the Port Macquarie Airport for our flight via Sydney back to Melbourne. On arrival midafternoon, we are met by our chauffeurs and are returned safely home with wonderful memories of our 10 day get away. Lunch own arrangements & cost
