Travel by our own state of the art luxury coach, equipped with restroom, satellite phone, fold-down arm rests, seat belts and extra leg room. Our coach has a kneeling device and second door for ease of entry and disembarkation. Our coach is also fitted with Road Cam TV monitors which display in real time the road ahead. 4 Day 1: Saturday 21st April, 2018 HOME TO LAKES ENTRANCE Welcome to our very special 7 day tour to our National Capital. Canberra is renowned for its landscaped streets, public parks, planted road medians and gardens. We re going to see them all on our Autumn tour. We ve also planned to be in Canberra on ANZAC Day. Sit back, relax and meet up with old and new friends as we make our way across Gippsland to Lakes Entrance. OVERNIGHT: Bellevue on the Lakes, LAKES ENTRANCE Day 2: Sunday 22nd April, 2018 LAKES ENTRANCE TO CANBERRA After breakfast we head towards Orbost where we leave the Princes Highway and travel north. We ll start climbing with mountain ranges on both sides of us as we make our way to Bombala, a charming town caught between the mountains and the NSW south coast. The rivers around Bombala are said to have the highest populations of platypus in New South Wales! We stop for lunch at Nimmitabel, which was settled in 1830s and by the 1850s it was a small village of slab and bark huts surrounded by grazing properties. The town has a distinguishing stone windmill, built last century by one of the region's German settlers. This afternoon, we drive through Cooma and onto Canberra. 5 Day 3: Monday 23rd April, 2018 EXPLORING CANBERRA Today we ll go Autumn Colour Hunting with the aid of a Horticulturist Guide. Some places sure to be on the list are the Red Oaks in La Perouse Street, Red Hill; Ornamental Pears and Red Oaks on the lakeside near the National Library and the Claret Ash in Atherton Street, Downer. Our guide will also point out the embassies and buildings of national importance. Saying farewell to our guide, we make our way to the edge of Lake Burley Griffin to enjoy our Fish & Chip lunch at Snappers on the Lake, part of the Southern Cross Yacht Club. This afternoon we visit The National Portrait Gallery. The Gallery aims to increase the understanding of the Australian people their identity, history, creativity and culture through portraiture. There are approximately 400 portraits of people who have shaped Australia and who continue to shape our nation. Returning to the lake, we board our scenic cruise around Lake Burley Griffin a perfect way to see some of Canberra s best known buildings. We ll receive an informative commentary about our nation s Capital while enjoying some freshly brewed tea and coffee. Back on dry land, we ll return to the hotel. 6 Day 4: Tuesday 24th April, 2018 MORE OF CANBERRA Our first visit today is the National Arboretum, located at the western end of Lake Burley Griffin. Here, we experience one of the world s largest living collections of rare, endangered and significant trees. Winner of the World Architecture Festival for landscape, the National Arboretum surrounds visitors with panoramic views, stunning architecture and the natural beauty of trees and gardens from Australia and around the world. We marvel at the miniature living artworks in the National Bonsai and Penjing Collection. Next, we visit Lanyon Homestead. Set within superb pleasure gardens the property includes a range of outbuildings and is located within a landscape of great natural beauty. We enjoy our lunch in the Lanyon Café, one of the historic outbuildings at Lanyon. After lunch we head back to town where the remainder of our afternoon will be at the Australian War Memorial. Over the past few years the Memorial has undergone extensive redevelopment resulting in new galleries and displays. The largest of these is the very impressive Anzac Hall which has a number of must-see exhibits: G for George - we can witness a stunning re-creation of a night operation over Berlin in 1943, featuring the famous Lancaster bomber "G for George". This exhibition, called Striking by Night, vividly conveys the exploits and experiences of the people, from both sides, who lived through the bombing offensive; Sydney Under Attack we

7 discover the Memorial s famous midget submarine, assembled from sections of two of the three submarines that raided Sydney in First World War aircraft - a large part of the Hall contains the permanent exhibition, Over the front: the Great War in the Air. It tells the story of military flight and aerial combat during the First World War. Later in the afternoon we move to the focus of the commemoration - the Hall of Memory together with the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, the Pool of Reflection and the Roll of Honour that lists the names of over 102,000 Australian servicemen and women who have died in war. It is here we ll hear the last post and closing ceremony. Returning to our accommodation we have time to relax before dinner. Early to bed as we have an early start tomorrow morning ANZAC Day. OVERNIGHT: Canberra Rex Hotel, CANBERRA Day 5: Wednesday 25th April, 2018 ANZAC DAY ANZAC Day is one of Australia's most important national occasions and today marks the 103rd anniversary of the landing of the troops at Gallipoli, the first major military action fought by Australian and New Zealand forces during the First World War. The soldiers in those forces quickly became known as ANZACs (Australian and New Zealand Army Corps) and the pride they soon took in that name endures to this day. Today we remember them. Early this morning, we transfer to the Australian War Memorial to take part in the standing service - the Dawn Service commences at 5.30am.

8 After the service we move to the special breakfast at the memorial. Those of us not attending the Dawn Service will be collected from the hotel in time to join the breakfast. We will see the Commemorative Address followed by the veterans march. Late morning, we head across to the National Museum of Australia where we enjoy lunch before our guided tour hear great stories about Australia and Australians told through new ideas, interactive displays and significant objects like Phar Lap's heart. After our tour, we have some free time to wander through the displays or revisit points of interest from our tour. Back in the hotel, we have time to relax after our early morning. OVERNIGHT: Canberra Rex Hotel, CANBERRA Day 6: Thursday 26th April, 2018 CANBERRA TO ALBURY We say farewell to our hosts this morning and start on our way to Albury. We have one more stop though before leaving Canberra - Cockington Green. This award winning tourist attraction and garden takes its name from the township of Cockington in Devon - an historic

9 English Village. The garden is a one 12th scale reproduction of buildings and gardens in this English village - thatched cottages, a tiny church and the village green, an oast house in Kent, a riverside inn, castles and even Stonehenge. For our lunch stop today we take a small detour off the Hume Highway to Mayfield Mews in Bowning, part of an historic precinct with strong associations with Henry Lawson. He lived on and off in Mayfield House (formerly Albury House) between 1899 and Mayfield Mews occupies what was the Coach house and stables and has been transformed into a delightful cafe. After our lunch here we continue on to Albury for our final night on tour. OVERNIGHT: Best Western Plus Hovell Tree, ALBURY

10 Day 7: Friday 27th April, 2018 HOMEWARD BOUND Today we are homeward bound. Relax and enjoy the scenery as we make our way south, stopping for our morning break at the Milawa Cheese Co. Our lunch venue is in Yea and this afternoon, we complete the last leg of our journey into Melbourne. As usual, our chauffeurs will see us to our doors to complete a wonderful Autumn holiday.
