4 Day 1: Saturday 23rd March, 2019 Melbourne to Lord Howe Island With pickup from home we transfer to Tullarmarine Airport for our flight via Brisbane to connect with our flight to Lord Howe Island. Upon arrival at beautiful Lord Howe Island we are transferred to our accommodation for the next 6 Nights. Our hosts are Anthony and Judy from Leanda Lei Apartments. Tonight we enjoy a slide show and a Fish Fry BBQ dinner at a local restaurant. Lunch own expense/arrangements today (snack may be served on flight) Day 2: Sunday 24th March, 2019 Local sightseeing including Cruise This morning after our breakfast, we enjoy an Island Tour to get a feel for this unique island. Today we split into two groups; Group 1 will go with your hosts Janine and Peter Phillips on the Chase n Thyme Tour for a fun and informal bus tour of Lord Howe Island s more interesting nooks and crannies! Janine is a fifth generation islander. Her Great Grand Father was an American whaler, Nathan Chase Thompson, who settled on the island in the 1850 s. Peter is the island s Post Master. He has had a number of his photos and stories published as well as writing a book on the island s history. You will learn more on a three hour tour with us than if you spent a week searching things out by yourself. Group 2 will view the island the way it was discovered, from the sea, on our two hour Around the Island Cruise aboard Lulawai. View North Head Cave and cruise along the magnificent volcanic

5 cliffs and spectacular mountain bases. Pass close by the Admiralty Isles with the thousands of sea birds which nest there. This weather dependent cruise includes commentary. This afternoon we will take part in the alternative activity to this morning. Tonight we enjoy dinner at a local restaurant. Lunch own expense/arrangements today Day 3: Monday 25th March, 2019 Sightseeing the North Bay Turtle and Nature Tour This morning after breakfast we explore the northern aspects of the Island. Come and join your guide, Anthony Riddle, 6th Generation Islander on our days outing to North Bay. View the fish and coral of the world s most Southern Coral Reef as we cruise slowly to the beautiful North Bay. Drift over the wreck of the Favourite on our purpose built glass bottom vessel Adventure One. We can enjoy the turtle spotting of the Green and Hawks Bill turtles through the glass bottom boat. While at North Bay the adventurous can snorkel the wreck, take a short climb up Mt Eliza with its panoramic views, walk to the Old Gluch and Herring Pools, view the sea bird rookery (seasonal) with a guided bird walk, swim or just sit and laze the day away. The cruise includes lunch, refreshments, snorkel gear and historical commentary. Upon returning back to our accommodation we have time to freshen up before being treated to dinner at a local restaurant.

6 Day 4: Tuesday 26th March, 2019 Environmental & Historical tour of Island We enjoy breakfast, before having a free morning to explore at leisure. In the afternoon we join Ron on a relaxed 3km Environmental History ramble, passing through lovely forests, a mutton-bird rookery, cliff top views, giant banyans, see valley of shadows, clear place and Balls Pyramid. We start from the much younger land forms where most residents live and into more ancient areas. Lord Howe is slowly disappearing. This will be explained and why its sister islands have long gone. A g r e a t i s l a n d introduction learn about the palm and tourist industry, flora, bush tucker and medicine, birds, volcanic history, snippets of colourful local history and more. This afternoon before dinner we are treated to an historical film in the local hall. Tonight we enjoy dinner at a local Restaurant. Lunch own expense/arrangements today Day 5: Wednesday 27th March, 2019 Coral viewing in the southern part of the Lagoon After breakfast this morning we experience Lord Howe Island s World Heritage marine environment from the glass bottom boat. This is a two hour tour that caters for everyone. Sit in comfort and view a marine paradise or snorkel Erscott s Hole and be amazed at the islands incredible marine biodiversity. Observe a natural feeding event that will attract some of the reefs larger and more exotic fish species. The tour operates within the sheltered waters of the lagoon according to weather, viewing conditions and tide.

7 Snorkelling equipment is provided if you would like to take part. This tour is guided by a local Marine Dive Master who will talk us through the diverse environment in the lagoon. This afternoon we have free time to explore at leisure or just relax at our accommodation. Tonight we enjoy dinner at the Golf Club. Lunch own expense/arrangements today Day 6: Thursday 28th March, 2019 Mountains Tour We enjoy breakfast at the Coral Cafe. Later this morning, we walk to Little Island with Ron Ramble. We take you to the fascinating mountainous end of the Island, to begin a 1km level stroll to the base of the mountains. We will see Little Islands and where the lagoons reef comes to its southern end. Rock was obtained here for the building of the airstrip and start to the Mt Gower walk. Wood Hens are often seen and fed. After a rest to enjoy the views and a photo or two, we stroll back. We then join Ron our guide for a 2 course lunch and cuppa. The walk is an unhurried 2 hours plus 1.5 hours for lunch. What better way to enjoy a day, nice walk, food and company. This afternoon we spend exploring Ned s Beach. Tonight we enjoy dinner at local restaurant.

8 Day 7: Friday 29th March, 2019 Home This morning after breakfast, we have some free time for a leisurely last minute stroll down to the Museum or perhaps a walk through Steven s Reserve. We are then transferred to the Lord Howe Airport for our return flight home via Sydney and then onto Melbourne. At Tullamarine our chauffeurs will await our arrival to return us safely home.
