4 DAY 1: Thursday 27th December, 2018 MELBOURNE TO LAKES ENTRANCE Welcome to our 8 day New Year tour! We begin with personal pickup from home and transfer to meet our O Shannessy s crew and board our Luxury Touring Coach. We head east on the Princes Highway to our first stop at the Light Horse and Field Artillery Museum. The museum is dedicated to the commemoration of remembering all animals in war. The museum is also home to a large collection of restored horse drawn transport vehicles used during WWI and catering equipment carried by pack animals. After our visit we drive on to Warragul for lunch before setting off towards our destination of Lakes Entrance. OVERNIGHT: Belleview on the Lakes, LAKES ENTRANCE DAY 2: Friday 28th December, 2018 LAKES ENTRANCE TO BATEMAN S BAY We are heading onto the NSW South Coast today as we make our way to Batemans Bay. Our morning stop is in Orbost at the Orbost Exhibition Centre located on the Snowy River and surrounded by beautiful Forest Park. The exhibition is all about timber - including the National Collection of Wood Design which is on permanent display. Designed on several levels we have time to enjoy the retail showroom, gallery for professional artists and top level for views of Forest Park. From here we continue east along the Princes Highway through Cann River and Genoa and across the border to Boydtown. Benjamin Boyd, the son of a London Banker established Boydtown at Twofold Bay in the mid 1800 s as his headquarters from where he ran his whaling and grazing exploits. Boyd had grandiose ideas of developing Boydtown to a stage not only to rival nearby Eden but Sydney itself. His grand plans never eventuated and the only buildings erected were Boyd s Church, the Lookout Tower and the Seahorse Inn. Here we ll enjoy a light lunch in the olde worlde ambiance of the Seahorse Inn. After lunch, we can take a stroll around the estate as the Inn is set amidst sprawling lawns and lush gardens. This afternoon, we travel through Eden to Bega, stopping briefly at the Bega Cheese Heritage Centre before continuing to Narooma and onto Batemans Bay for the next two nights. 5 DAY 3: Saturday 29th December, 2018 BATEMAN S BAY This morning we will meet up with a local expert for an informative tour of this bustling seaside town. We then join the MV Merinda for a leisurely cruise on the picturesque Clyde River. Here we ll see historical sites, remnants of early settlers activity, bird life and natures wonderful artwork. There is a stop-over at the historical village of Nelligen with time for a stroll on the dock or to sit on the banks of the river and enjoy the views - just beautiful!! We enjoy a fish and chip lunch on board, with the rest of the afternoon left free to do some shopping in Batemans Bay or return to the motel to relax. OVERNIGHT: Best Western Sunseeker Motor Inn, BATEMAN S BAY DAY 4: Sunday 30th December, 2018 BATEMAN S BAY TO PARRAMATTA Our journey this morning sees us travel through Ulladulla, Conjola to the beautiful rural town of Berry. Berry boasts some fine early architecture with various buildings, some beautifully restored, protected by their National Trust Classification in recognition of their significance to the heritage of the region. From here we travel to Kiama where we see the famous Blowhole, which can spurt water up to 60 metres high when there is a good swell running. We continue onto Wollongong for lunch. From here we are off to the fascinating Wollongong s Science Centre & Planetarium. Apart from some interesting hands on exhibits, we will be visiting the Bluescope Steel Star Theatre The Planetarium, for their special show called Oasis in Space which explores the locations in the Universe where water might be found. Wollongong's most popular coastal tourist drive is along the 665 metre 'Sea Cliff' Bridge. The bridge itself has become a major attraction because it has been built at the exact point at which the Illawarra Escarpment plunges into the South Pacific Ocean, delivering an amazing driving experience. With a guarded shared pathway for pedestrians and cyclists, the bridge offers people a great view of the ocean and whales as they migrate throughout the year.

6 The views are spectacular! Our accommodation for the next three nights is the Parkroyal Parramatta, a stylish hotel which stands on the banks of the Parramatta River. Unpack and relax or take a stroll along popular Church Street before our dinner in the hotel. OVERNIGHT: Parramatta Parkroyal, PARRAMATTA DAY 5: Monday 31st December, 2018 EXPLORING PARRAMATTA HISTORY Today we explore Parramatta with a local specialist learning about the history, as well as a few funny stories. First stop is the Female Factory, (Convict Womens Gaol) the oldest convict women s site in Australia. We hear some powerful stories of the lives of convict women and the constant mischief they got up to. Later we arrive at the historic Elizabeth Farm, Australia s second oldest building and the oldest existing European house. Constructed in 1793 by John & Elizabeth Macarthur, the farm is situated in a glorious 1830 s garden and is an enchanting introduction to Australian History. Whilst here we have time to explore before heading to lunch and a tour at the nearby Newington Armory including in-depth commentary, a train ride and a short walk to the former workshops, gunpowder magazine and the armament display. This afternoon, we ll continue our sightseeing and find there s still so much more to see as we pass the modern justice hub, lower George St, passing the first school for sons of Gentlemen in the colony, the old wharf, Hambledon Cottage built for a governess and Experiment Farm, the first land grant in Australia. Our final stop is in the grounds of the University where we view the Orphan School and Whitlam Institute. By the end of the day, we ll all agree that Parramatta is a fascinating area with plenty to see. After dinner at the hotel, we may like to participate in the New Year s festivities in Parramatta. A short distance away is Parramatta Park where there is a family firework display at 9.15pm. OVERNIGHT: Parramatta Parkroyal, PARRAMATTA

7 DAY 6: Tuesday 1st January, 2019 BLUE MOUNTAINS Today, to celebrate the first day of the New Year, we do something a little different with a guided tour and a High Tea at the elegant Carrington Hotel in Katoomba. The Carrington has a long and rich history spanning almost a century and a quarter since her establishment by Sydney hotelier Harry Rowell. Opened in 1882 as The Great Western, this Grand Old Lady soon became a popular mountain retreat for international visitors, the elite of Sydney and those eager to see the natural wonders of the Blue Mountains. The Carrington closed her doors in late 1985 and remained empty and derelict until 1991 when it was purchased with the aim of restoring and relaunching this Grand Old Lady of the Mountains. The Carrington reopened her doors in December, 1998 after eight years of restoration. Following a very interesting morning we make a brief stop at Echo Point to see the Three Sisters. Nearby is ScenicWorld where we board the Scenic Railway, the world's steepest incline railway. We descend 415m down the escarpment at a gradient of 52 degrees and travel through the tunnel and ancient rainforest. When we disembark, we take the 300m rainforest boardwalk to connect with the Flyway platform. The Flyway is the steepest aerial cable car in Australia. It will take us on a 545 metre ride up through the World Heritage Listed rainforest of the Jamison Valley. Leaving Scenic World we head to Blackheath to visit Govetts Leap Lookout with its breathtaking views of the Grose Valley and Bridal Veil Falls. Lunch at own expense and arrangement OVERNIGHT: Parramatta Parkroyal, PARRAMATTA Day 7: Wednesday 2nd January, 2019 PARRAMATTA TO ALBURY From Parramatta we travel south into the Southern Highlands with a morning stop at Bowral, nestled in the shadow of Mount Gibraltar. We have arranged a visit to the Bradman International Cricket Hall of Fame. Bowral was where cricketer Sir Donald Bradman spent his boyhood. Located adjacent to Bradman Oval and Sir Donald s former home. The Museum is a tribute to one of Australia s sporting greats. We take a small detour off the Hume Highway to Bowning, where we stop for a light lunch

8 OVERNIGHT: Best Western Plus Hovell Tree, ALBURY DAY 8: Thursday 3rd January, 2019 ALBURY TO HOME at Mayfield Mews, part of an historic precinct with strong associations with Henry Lawson. He lived on and off in Mayfield House (formerly Albury House) between 1899 and Mayfield Mews occupies what was the Coach house and stables and has been transformed into a delightful café. We spend the afternoon travelling to our overnight accommodation. Our first stop today is at Beechworth, Gold Country! This imposing historical town will remind us of those exciting gold rush years, with many landmarks still surviving. The discovery of gold in the 1850 s brought with it a flurry of activity and growth. The magnificent buildings, 32 of which are listed by the National Trust and the beautiful gardens are a legacy of the gold rush days. We ll meet up with a local expert for a tour of this historic town including a visit to the Bourke Museum. After lunch in Euroa we make our way back to Melbourne where as usual, we will meet our chauffeurs who will take us home after our memorable tour.
