2 DAY 2: SYDNEY MORNING CITY TOUR Join your AAT Kings coach at the selected pick up location (Sydney Harbour Marriott, 30 Pitt Street or Lime Street, King Street Wharf, Darling Harbour) to commence a morning Bondi Beach and Sydney Sights tour. Tour through the historic Rocks area and take in views of the Opera House, Hyde Park, St Mary's Cathedral, Parliament House and the Art Gallery. Stop at Mrs. Macquarie's Chair for magnificent views of the Opera House and Harbour Bridge. Visit The Gap to enjoy the stunning views then stop at the world famous Bondi Beach. Re-join the coach for the return journey to Sydney travelling through Paddington and the exclusive Eastern Suburbs. Overnight: Sydney Parkroyal Darling Harbour Superior Room (B) DAY 3: DAY TOUR Today meet the local guide for a full day touring to the beautiful Blue Mountains Travel through the inner west suburbs to Featherdale Wildlife Park. Enjoy a stroll around this lovely wildlife park to see a variety of Australian wildlife and exotic bird life, kangaroos, Emus, Tasmanian Devils, Wombats and have a close encounter with the cuddly Koala. Reboard your motorcoach and commence the ascent of the Blue Mountain Ranges at Emu Plains enjoying breathtaking views along the way. Enjoy a three course lunch at Mountain Heritage Hotel overlooking the Jamison Valley. Visit Echo Point, where you will have a spectacular view of the Three Sisters - a giant rock formation steeped in Aboriginal mythology. Enjoy a short walk here. At Katoomba, the centre of the Blue Mountains a visit to Scenicworld is included; ride on the Scenic Railway the steepest incline railway in the world that takes you down the mountainside in less than one minute. At the base of the mountain walk through the rainforest along the boardwalk with interpretation notices of your surrounds. This path will lead you to the Scenic cableway a cable car system that will take you back up the mountainside affording spectacular views en route. Next is a ride on the Scenic Skyway which takes you across the valley where the driver will meet you. See quaint Leura village (time permitting) before returning to Sydney. 3 DAY 4: CRUISE DEPARTURE After breakfast and check-out, you will be transferred to the cruise ship terminal to board the Diamond Princess which departs for Auckland New Zealand at 5pm. Depart Auckland 10pm DAY 8: ARRIVE IN TAURANGA BAY OF PLENTY Tauranga is the largest city in the Bay of Plenty and one of the fastest growing population centres in the country. It is also just a 15 minute drive from one of New Zealand's most popular beach towns, Mount Maunganui. Downtown Tauranga has several historically significant areas to view during a scenic walk around the area. The Strand waterfront area is modern and always buzzing, and is home to a number of cafés, restaurants, pubs and nightclubs, as well as a range of accommodation options. Tauranga s harbour is in evidence almost everywhere you go, providing the urban area with an attractive waterfront setting. Fishing, sailing, diving and dolphin tours are easy to arrange, or check out one of the local beauty spots McLaren Falls or the Kaimai Mamaku Forest Park. 4 DAY 9: AT SEA DAY 10: WELLINGTON NEW ZEALAND Nestled between a sparkling harbour and rolling green hills, New Zealand's capital city is renowned for its arts, heritage, culture and native beauty. Relax at Oriental Bay, Wellington s golden-sand innercity beach and delve into the many museums, art galleries and theatre shows that make up the city s pulsing cultural scene. If you re into the outdoors, Wellington has action-packed adventure activities like mountain biking and sea-water kayaking, as well as beautiful walks around the harbor and surrounding hills. Try the visually stunning Makara Peak track, as well as the City to Sea walk where you can experience the best of Wellington's waterfront. Ride the cable car up the hill to Kelburn for amazing views over the city and enjoy an ice cream at the top. Depart 6pm DAY 11: AKAROA NEW ZEALAND The most French town in New Zealand, Akaroa will have you entranced with its historic buildings, magnificent harbour and passion for fine food. The best way to explore Akaroa is on foot. Begin at the information centre, which is on the corner of Rue Lavaud and Rue Balguerie. You'll find brochures and maps that will help you to decide where to walk. Visit local restaurants with their focus on French cuisine and head along to Barrys Bay Cheese, where they've persevered with original methods for over a century. During milking season, every second day, you can watch their award-winning cheeses being made through the gallery window. Take a self-guided walk to see historic cottages. Be sure to visit the museum - it tells the story of Akaroa with displays and an audio visual presentation. If you have time, take a harbour cruise to view dolphins, penguins and fur seals. 5 DAY 12: DUNEDIN THE EDINBURGH OF NEW ZEALAND Known as the Edinburgh of New Zealand, Dunedin is the country's city of the south, wearing its Scottish heritage with pride. Surrounded by dramatic hills and at the foot of a long, picturesque harbour, Dunedin is one of the best-preserved Victorian and Edwardian cities in the Southern Hemisphere. The nightlife buzzes with funky bars and delicious restaurants and the natural attractions are unique and fascinating. Don't miss the Otago Peninsula - the views are endless and the beaches are beautifully rugged. Nestled at the foot of Taiaroa Head is the Royal Albatross Centre, the only place in the world on the mainland where you can view Northern Royal Albatross in their natural habitat. On Dunedin s doorstep you will also find incredible wildlife including the world s rarest penguin colonies. Depart: 5pm DAY 13: FJORDLAND NATIONAL PARK One of the most dramatic and beautiful parts of New Zealand; the power of Fiordland's scenery never fails to enthrall travelers. This remarkable natural environment features stunning fiords, spectacular waterfalls and snowcapped peaks. Ancient rainforest clings impossibly to the mountains; waterfalls tumble hundreds of meters into massive fiords; shimmering lakes and granite peaks look the same today as they did a thousand years ago. A fjord is defined as a u-shaped glacier-carved valley which has been flooded by the sea. The fourteen fiords that fringe this south-west corner of the South Island were 100,000 years in the making, with the final details added during the most recent ice age just 10,000 years ago. On all sides of the fiords, spectacular waterfalls tumble incessantly as the region's plentiful rainfall finds its way to the sea. Described by Rudyard Kipling as the Eighth Wonder of the World, Milford Sound is always spectacular - daily scenic flights and cruises reveal its beauty to visitors. At 421 metres, Doubtful Sound is the deepest of New Zealand s fiords. It s a haven for nature, with resident bottlenose dolphins, fur seals and penguins. The remaining two-thirds of Fiordland National Park are covered by virgin beech and pod carp forest. A 500 kilometre network of walking tracks allows visitors to explore the primeval world of mountain peaks, alpine lakes and moss-carpeted valleys.
