July OFFICERS PRESIDENT JEFF MINX MEMBER OF THE MONTH PHYLLIS PETRONE AT LAST!! In 1965, a straight 6-cylinder, blue with a white hard top came into my life. It was love at first sight and this love affair has continued all my life. It remained in the family for 13 years ( I gave it to my sister when I purchased another vehicle). Through the years I had passing thoughts about another Mustang. Then I met Scott Nett and Franklin & Nancy Nickerson. They told me of the Copperstate Mustang Club, of which they were members. They also said I didn t have to own one to join. The idea of owning a Mustang again came into my mind and STAYED. VICE PRESIDENT Don Cook doncookptbs@msn.com SECRETARY Becky Field beckyfield@q.com TREASURER JoAnn Martorano jdmartorano@yahoo.com SGT. AT ARMS Sarah Talahongva talahongva05@yahoo.com I enjoyed being a member of the club, and an opportunity presented itself to own a mustang. In 2009, Dan Martorano had a 289 V8 Coupe in his shop. I saw it in all its glory. I was in the Mustang groove again! I had to have it! Dan has done a wonderful restoration job and has tolerated all my suggestions for additions. My husband suggested power disc brakes and rack and pinion steering, which Dan installed along with electric door locks, an alarm, keyless entry, electric windows, 10 disk CD player, and an IPod port.

New Colt 305 Mustang Armed with 305 horses, the COLT 305 is truly worthy of the Mustang name. Fire up the all-aluminum dual-over head-cam 3.7L engine, and one thing that s sure to race is your heart rate. Twin independent variable camshaft timing means maximum acceleration through all 6 gears and the custom race inspired X-pipe dual exhaust strikes the right tone. 5 Member of the Month Cont d Dan then added head rests and 3-point seat belts. He even added a cut out of a horse head on the threshold of the door that lights up, WOW!! That along with the magnificent paint job, a great Pony Package and big tires really makes this an impressive Mustang. Sweet Filly has already garnished 2 trophies. I am just afraid that if I ask Dan for anything else on the car, he ll change his phone number! He was wonderful to deal with. I want to thank him so much for all he has done! I also wish to thank all the members that also worked on Sweet Filly as well as all the suggestions they made. This is a wonderful club and I m so glad I m part of it!

Verde Canyon Weekend Wrap Up The final count was 10 as we headed north on I-17 for our first stop, breakfast at Rock Springs Cafe. The new owners have added a large gift shop, working bar with entertainment in the evening, but the food is still good and pies still the best (so I hear). Fun place to walk around, had farm grown produce, llama rugs, wind chimes etc. Arrived Best Western Cottonwood about 12:30 and met up with Nancy & Franklin Nickerson who had come in from Sedona earlier. Brian the desk clerk checked us all in as our rooms were ready. We had main floor, pool facing, all together which was a welcome surprise. Dan/Jo Ann Martorano, Bob/Alyce Ancell, Jeff/Doris Minx, Bill Godwin & Sharon, Tom Martin & I made up the total of 12. Weather was pretty nice there, mid 90 s, so a few of us headed up to Jerome for a look around. Big crowd but nice to be there. We had to save the Douglas Mansion tour for another time. About 5:30 we drove a few miles to The Blazin M Ranch. Rode a tram around the grounds, did a bit of shopping, sat under trees until the dinner bell at 6:30. Our long bench/table was 3rd row/middle from the stage. Western bar b que ribs & chicken with all the trimmings was served from a quick moving line with beverages on the table and waiters serving as much additional as you wanted. Western entertainment after that was fun with the Ghost Rider riding his horse around the building wrapping it up.tom headed to the photo shop for the Doc Holliday look a like pic. Sunday morning we enjoyed comp full breakfast at Best Western, sat around the pool then Tom found a huge garage sale to explore. A lot went. On to Clarkdale & Verde Canyon Train Depot. They've moved a train car onto the grounds to hold a most interesting museum. All Aboard the Yuma First Class Car for the 2hour trip to Perkinsville with Plenty of appetizers (wings/cheese/ veggies/caesar salad/brownies/finger sandwiches). The outside car was getting a bit warm so most settled in for the 2hour return to the depot. Didn't see the normal fish/eagles/blue herons. Just a bit too late. We parted ways then, some headed back to Rock Springs Cafe for a quick bite. Everything went well, no mishaps.. Fun time for all I hope. Chevie

Verde Canyon Weekend Wrap Up

History Our organization was formed in 1973 to combat and support, good and bad legislation. We have proudly served the HOBBYIST of Arizona for over three decades and have been very effective in beating back the constant, year after year, threats that could severely injure our HOBBY or completely destroy it. We have been on the job as your watchdog for our HOBBY,to take on the challenges of, scrappage proposals, new vehicular taxes, aggressive zoning laws, anti-cruising efforts and many other issues that would harm our HOBBY. Our organization has a great history of clout, based on the hobbyists we represent. In the past, the AAHC has fought the 4% sales tax between private owners put in by Gov. Ev. Mecham in 89 and is responsible for the 15 year exemption for classic cars with collector insurance. That has been in effect for 3 years after a 5 year struggle with the EPA. Recently the AAHC helped with a compromise allowing the age exemption for older cars to be raised from 1966 to This will go into effect after EPA approval. PLEASE JOIN NOW!!! We are requesting for your club to join the AAHC now and be a part of our clout. We hope to see you at our meeting first Monday of each month meeting as a new or renewed club member. The dues are $15 for individual members, $30 for small clubs (under 25 members) and $40 for large clubs (25 or more members). Please print the application form and send with your check today dues form (coming soon) Important Notice: The AAHC is taking a strong stand against Toll Roads in AZ FREE ROADS for FREE PEOPLE AAHC Summer Board Meetings are on last Wednesday of June, July and August at 7:00 PM at Denny's, 2360 W Northern Ave. in Phoenix.(June 27, July 25, August 29) For more information visit our website The AAHC would like to extend a huge thank you to our legislative liaison, Bill Gilmore. He was instrumental in passing a compromise emission test exemption bill SB1324, sponsored by Senator Antenori of Tucson, that will change the automatic exemption for emission testing from 1966 to Gov. Jan Brewer has already signed the bill and it will go into effect as soon as the EPA signs off on it. That may take a year or two. National Collector Car Appreciation Day JULY 13th Lawmakers Acknowledge Importance of Collection and Restoration of Collector Cars The U.S. Senate passed Senate Resolution 452 (S. Res. 452) at the request of the SEMA Action Network (SAN) designating July 13, 2012 as Collector Car Appreciation Day. The date marks the third commemoration in what has become an annual event to celebrate and raise awareness of the vital role automotive restoration and collection plays in American society.
