PO Box Dallas, TX Current Membership -168 BOARD OF DIRECTORS President David Graves term expires 12/15 Vice Pres Greg Hedum term expires 12/14 Treasurer Tom Walker term expires 12/14 Secretary Larry Epperson term expires 12/15 Board Member Marvin Cowden term expires 12/14 Board Member - Alan Strong term expires 12/15 Board Member John Rogers term expires 12/14 Appointed Positions WRENCHES Rep Don Andre WRENCHES Rep Bill Preston Tech Advisor - Larry Rollow Membership Chairman Joe Ortega Ladies Group Chairwoman Vickie Penney Membership Information Dues are $25 per year, payable to Dallas Area Classic Chevys, mail to the club PO Box. To determine your renewal date, check your mailing label, the top right corner is the month/yr your membership expires. THIS SATURDAY JUNE 7 th Bring your Chevy full of gas at 9AM to the Northern Tool parking lot on Interstate 30 and Broadway Blvd in Garland. We will depart at 9:30AM sharp for a leisurely drive through East Texas that will include stops at the Salt Museum in Grand Saline, lunch at The Shed in Edom (for many of us this will be a repeat stop from past cruises and one well worth it!), the Farmers Market in Edgewood and then back to Garland. And as a bonus, if you like to play Poker then this gets better because we will have an optional Poker Run built into the cruise. For a nominal $10 fee per hand, you will be able to select a card at each stop. Once we get back to Garland we will all open our cards and see who has the best hands for cash prizes! Now does it get any better than this? Drive your Classic Chevy, see the Salt Museum, eat at the world famous The Shed and then stop off in Edgewood at the Farmers Market to get yourself some goodies to take home AND then possibly take home cash to pay for it all with a winning poker hand! You don t want to miss this one so we will see you THIS SATURDAY at 9AM in Garland! IN JULY CRUISE IN!! The DACC will again lead the annual celebration in North Texas of the National Collector Car Appreciation Day on Friday evening July 11 th from 7-10PM at Kellers Drive In on Northwest Highway (Loop 12) just east of Central Expressway in Dallas. Open to all makes and models of collector cars!
2 Page 2 of 5 Classic Heartbeat Favorite DACC Chevy at LONE STAR 32! Each year at the annual Lone Star Classic Chevy Convention, it is tradition that each club selects their Favorite Classic Chevy at the event. This year at the 32 nd Annual Lone Star event in Houston, the DACC members selected "Blue Diamond", a beautiful 57 Bel Air 2 door hardtop owned by Jac and Tena Broussard from Sulphur, Louisiana. They are not members of any club but they do attend the Texas state conventions each year when they can. Jac and Tena read all of the club s websites constantly to keep up with what is going on. This 57 was originally bought at an auction in Dallas in 2005 for Tena to drive. When the brakes went out, they stored it in a barn for about a year. After that the 57 went on a 3 year restoration process and that got this Chevy to what it is now. There was a lot of rust in the car and most everything was replaced except the trunk lid, hood, and inner body. Today it features a Morrison frame, rebuilt 454 with a turbo 400 transmission, a Ford 9 inch rear end, a custom automatic 800 Edelbrock carb, a March serpentine belt. The outside is dressed up with Boyd Continued on Page 3
