Box Shreveport, LA F RO M THE PRESIDENT S DESK May was another wet month for car shows, with most of the shows getting rained out, or had low turnout due to the weather. I managed to brave the weather and get over to Marshall Texas for the 4th Annual Mustang Roundup at the convention center, put on by the North East Texas Mustang Club. Tom Hughes, Mark and Barb Winderweedle and Christopher Prest met me at the Welcome Center to cruise on to Marshall. The streets were somewhat wet that morning, but it wasn't raining yet. We got to Marshall, parked got registered just in time for a quick shower of rain which would be the norm off and on for the rest of the day. I, along with the other convertibles, kept our tops up due to the unpredictable rain. Tommy Gayer, and his son Stephen were already there, helping set up and run the show. We all cleaned on our cars the best we could, but finally gave up after the second time of wiping rain off the cars. Even though the rain kept most folks away, there were still over 25 cars in attendance, including a group of 5 mustangs from south Texas that were cruising around checking out car shows for the day. I think they were from Beaumont, but they did not stay and participate. They came out and checked out the cars in the show, visited for a few hours and left. I told the judges to pretend that my car had a nice new black top on it, since it was at home in boxes just waiting for my stapler to come in. If it wasn't raining, the top would be down, and no one would be able to see it, but the rain kept it up with all the tears and cuts visible for all to see. Everyone won something at the show, even myself, old ratty top and all. The show was over about 2pm, and we stayed behind to help Wayne Lowry and his club tear down. Then most everyone else cruised on to downtown Marshall for the Cruise in on the square. I high tailed it back to town for some family get together I had to go to, but the weather cleared up long enough for me to ride home with the top down, enjoying the brief sunshine that came out for the afternoon. 3 Page 3 The Pony Express M C A N E W S After trying to get the car ready before going to Augusta with all the rain, we were finally on our way on May 20th. The threat of rain still lingered as we left the Wal- Mart parking lot. Now my hard luck story. As we were going through Ruston a car swerved to the shoulder and scattered some rock. We just happened to be passing by on the left lane. We first noticed a couple of chips on the windshield. A short time later we saw a crack that started form just right of the rearview mirror. Couldn't do anything but watch as it traveled down and across. It stopped just short of being able to come back up and make a happy face. Believe me I did not have a happy face! We had a long day to get just past of Atlanta before we stopped for the night. Max and Rob had fun giving a pink Camaro a Shelby sandwich in Atlanta. Yes I did say pink. It was the most awful Pepto- bismol pink that you'll ever see. And with the red tail lights on it made me want to throw up. Needless to say Mr. Pink Man didn't want to play so the guys left him and searched for other prey. Ah well boys will be boys. Next time I get to drive. learn and see what you can do. When the judges came to my car they said I was off to a good start with showing it for the first time. Then one of them said the undercarriage was not cleaned well. You know what I was saying to myself on that one. So I looked at the judged with this question, "Test and Tune?" Ah well can't think of everything. Will next time though. We both came home with trophies. Rob with his usual first and as miracles will be handed to me I brought home a respectable third. I also received my grill medallion for the 90. I took my over 10 years to earn the points to get it. I think Rob is now hooked on earning. He now has 9 points and needs 11 more to get it. I know he'll make it. Hoped everyone will one day go with us; it was lonely with just two cars. Think about going with us next time. It's a lot of fun We arrive in Augusta the next day to some beautiful weather. No rain, No hot weather, No humidity. It could not have been better! Had the good weather for the whole time we were there. I love Double Tree cookies! See you on the road Donna This was my first experience in showing a car that the engine and everything else was judged. Got to the show on Saturday and saw all the Shelbys in my class and got sick. Told myself your here just to

4 Page 4 A C T I V I T I E S C O R N E R Now that the rain is over (we hope its over) we can get on with the car events of summer. We start off our month with the CCFC Christians Cruising for Christ Annual Car Show. We will be meeting at 8:30 am Saturday June 6th at the Academy in Shreveport to cruise to Stonewall. The show is from 9 am to 2 pm Salem Baptist Church 5187 HWY 3276, Stonewall, LA 71078, entry fee is donations only and they will have free hot dogs for lunch. The T-Bone Walker Music Festival will also be hosting a car show the same day. Our monthly meeting is also the 6th at the Asbury Church on Airline Drive in Bossier City 5 pm. We will be cruising to River City Grill on Benton Rd for dinner. On Wednesday the 17th is our monthly board meeting 6:30 pm Reed Industrial. Saturday the 20th is a fun filled day of shows and meets. We start off the day with a show at Barksdale Air Force Base, or if you want to make a road trip the Meals for Wheels is having a show in Longview, TX. Last we will be finishing off the day with a pop up meet at the Dunkin Donuts in South Bossier 1701 Jimmie Davis HWY 6-8 pm. Last but not least we finish off the month with the meet at the Asbury Church on the 27th. It will be a cruise to eat meet, location to be announced but if you want to attend meet at the Church 2 pm that Saturday. That is all the events I have for now but may be more we will out. Just a reminder we will not be cruising to eat as a group for the July meeting since it's on the 4th. By the time your read this, our own Christopher Prest will have driven his 2014 GT to Wisconsin, joined the tour and started back to LA with several thousand of his new friends.
