Just got home from the Show Low event. I ll have to say Art and Mary Bans worked their rear ends off getting the show established. Art not only did all the show arrangements, he set up and managed the Memorial parade. So kudos to Art for the effort. The baseball fields were of course dusty, and the weather made it worse. Winds were up to 50MPH most of the day Saturday. It was pretty miserable. The whole deal started on Friday morning for us. We got the 31 as far as Scottsdale Road and Frank Lloyd Wright when we noticed the smoke rolling out from under the car. Being a little shell shocked still from the California oil line fiasco, we turned it home and returned in the BMW. Met up with Tom and Jan, Bob and Betty, and Steve and Terri at Starbucks. We made our usual stops and got into Show Low to check in for the show. We should have known once we got there what was in store for us. It was already windy, and the dust was rolling around then. Looked like a good selection of vendors were setting up. Heard they expected over 100 cars. There was a steak fry that night for participants. Saturday we had Steve and Terri Besore in the 37 Chevy, Tom and Jan Eckholdt in the 35 The Prez Sez: Ford, Conrad and Michelle Monroe in the 39 Ford, Bob and Betty Bailey in the El Camino, Steve and Connie Roseman in the 34 sedan, Paul and Judy Nolte in the 56 Plymouth long roof, Frank and Rose Svancarra in the 42 Ford, Page and Linda Barnes in the Studebaker Lark, Bradley and Joann Harrelson in the 47 Ford. Larry and Brenda Besore in the 1931 BMW. As usual, my apologies if I left anyone out. Manfred and Connie Wagner were there in the 39 Chevy also. Michelle and Conrad threw a super diner party on Sat night and we all went home full of good food, and good fun. The wind and pollen got to me and I could hardly breath Saturday night. We decided to head for home after breakfast on Sunday. Several others had made the same decision. Don t have all the details yet but I did hear Frank and Rose, Steve and Terri, and Steve and Connie all won trophies, maybe others did as well. I won a ton of fireplace pellets that I never put a ticket in for, but hey I won something! You shoulda been there (but anchored down good) Da Prez

It s primary objective is to promote the sport of Street Rodding. The Over The Hill Gang-Phoenix has a Business Meeting on the first Wednesday of each month at Coco s Restaurant located at 4541 East Cactus Rd. at 7:00 PM. There is also a Board Meeting held at Manuels-Cave Creek & Cactus on the third Tuesday of each month at 7:00 PM and all members are welcome and encouraged to attend.
