2 September & October 2014 General Meeting: Board Meeting: 4 th Wednesday of every month Wednesday before the regular meeting Magic s Pizza, Selah Magic s Pizza, Selah 7:00pm 7:00 Deadline for newsletter submissions is 7 days after the event, If you re submission is not received by that date, it could be put off until the next month s newsletter. Membership Requirements: Attend 2 meetings or club functions per year Have a valid driver s License Own a Mustang or Cougar Provide proof of liability insurance Be 18 years or older or join with parents as a family membership Annual Dues Single: $17.00 Family $20.00 SCMC Board Minutes 8/20/14 President David Hawkins brought the meeting to order at 7 p.m. at Magic Jack s Pizza Shack. Others in attendance were Ray Fletcher, David Mitts, Jan & Guy Anderson, Jeannette & Dave Biddle and Velda Welch. President David asked Velda to have the calling committee remind everyone of the next meeting and that we have new shirts, hats, visors and this is the last meeting prior to our car show. Treasurer Mitts reported that we had $ in checking and $ in savings. He deposited $1062 since our last meeting from sponsorships, T-Shirts & sale of meat from our picnic. Steve & Caroline have been paid for the meat they provided. Minutes of the last meeting were approved. We approved the following new members: Roberta Eaglespeaker, Lee & Traci McClanathan, & Justin & Maria Roybal. David Mitts will get nametags ordered and their names into the newsletter. We will wait to approve Wayne & Barbara Nell until they fulfill their membership requirements. Jeff Bramlett, from Mustangs Plus, contacted us regarding membership. Since we don t have any company memberships, David Mitts will contact him and see what he wants to offer us and then we will propose it to the membership. Discussed convoy etiquette that we should try to all stay together, try to stay the speed limit and pull off and let other traffic pass if you are holding up traffic. Ray will check out traffic rules with the Sheriff s office or State Patrol to make sure we do it correctly. Ray felt that we should show registrations and invitations to every Mustang Club in the Northwest. He will get information on the clubs so we can do that. He also felt that we should ask all of the Ford Dealerships if they would like to bring a Ford Mustang to our show. Upcoming car shows & cruises: August 30, Bickleton September 1, Wapato Car Show September 9, Cruise to Kings Row, Selah 6 p.m. September 12, Hot Rods & Harleys, McDonalds on 40 th Ave (week before our show) September 13, Naches Parade & Fire Em Up Car Show September 14, VFW Car Show October 4, Kings Row Cruise In, 4-7 pm October 5 Concours d Elegance, Patterson Columbia Crest Winery (Cont.)
3 We will need volunteers for Friday, September 19 to help with the pulled pork, peel & slice peaches & put together the goodie bags. Velda asked that someone man the coffee and donuts at our show. She said that she had too much with the food booth. We also need someone to sell the 50/50 raffle tickets. The Selah Royalty was suggested. We need different colored tickets. The Pony Trails on Saturday will start at 9:30 a.m. from Sarge Hubbard Park and go to Prosser. Back roads will be used, not the freeway. Wineries will have trivia questions and winners will get prizes at Denschel Ford in Prosser. Lunch will be at the Horse Heaven Saloon. Velda discussed the need for 3 canopies for our show. Heidi, from Children s Wishes & Dreams will bring two, but Velda felt that we should buy 1 so we wouldn t have to scrounge for a 3 rd one. It was agreed that we buy one canopy. Everyone will watch for sales, but call David Mitts if you find one at a good price. We thought we should be able to buy one for approximately $ Dave Biddle suggested that we do a cruise to Brian Sims place in Ellensburg. He has a beautiful garage with old Chevys that he is willing to give us a tour. Saturday, October 18 th was suggested with lunch at the Red Horse Diner in Ellensburg. Meeting adjourned at 8:20 p.m. Jeannette Biddle, Secretary President David Hawkins brought the meeting to order at 7 p.m. Minutes of the last meeting were approved. SCMC General Meeting August 27, 2014 Treasurer report: The club has $2, in checking and $2, in savings. $ was paid out for the web site and $ was paid for the meat for the club picnic at The Cove at Rimrock Lake. Thank you Jeff, for arranging the picnic, and thanks to Steve & Carolyn for the ribs and chicken. The club is currently paid up on their debts. The club has purchased a canopy (10 x 10) for $89.00 for use by the club. We have T shirts, hats, and flags for sale. Shane Zerr spoke to the members about the upcoming car show Show & Shine at the VFW in Yakima on 9/14/14. He would love to have our club attend. Our upcoming show was discussed and a plan made to meet on 9/19/14 (Friday before the show) to do the pulled pork and peel and slice the peaches. We will meet at Steven & Carolyn s church (New Hope Community Church) in Terrace heights at 5 p.m. It was also voted on and passed that we would serve coffee and cinnamon rolls and charge $1.00 for the cinnamon roll. Ray Fletcher has contacted many Mustang car clubs in the Northwest. He has sent invitations and registrations to them about our show. *Reminder: The SCMC Ponies in the Sun car show, September 20-21, at Sarge Hubbard Park, Yakima, WA. Please attend, this is our show. Others in attendance were Ray Fletcher, David Mitts, Jan & Guy Anderson, Jeannette & Dave Biddle. Treasurer Mitts reported that we had $ in checking and $ in savings. Received a couple more sponsors, sold a few T- Shirts & flags, and Mary still has checks from registrations. Minutes of the last meeting were approved. We discussed waiting until next spring for the October 18 cruise to Sims place in Ellensburg. October 18 is the date of the Wishes and Dreams dinner. There were several or our members at the Hot Rods & Harleys at McDonalds on the 12 th. Judy won Best of Show with her red convertible. There were also several members at the Old Naches Parade & Fire Em Up Car show on the 13 th, and at the VFW show in Yakima on the 14 th. Discussed our car show. President David felt that there would be 8-10 cars from the Pacific NW Car Club, as well as the Wrangler Car Club from Oregon. Jeannette received some items from Mark Sires for goodie bags. We discussed that a person needed club approval before spending club money. It was moved, seconded and approved that the flyers that President Hawkins had made would not be used. Upcoming car shows & cruises: October 4, Kings Row Cruise In, 4-7 pm October 5 Concours d Elegance, Patterson Columbia Crest Winery meet at K-Mart at 7 a.m. October 19 Zillah car show David Mitts is still looking at getting SCMC window decals made. Jeannette gave her resignation as Secretary, since she had a conflict with Wednesday nights. Jan Anderson agreed to step in and take minutes for the remainder of the year. Nominations for next year s officers would be held in November, and voting would take place in December. Jan will look at having our December potluck at their Mobile Park again. Ray will need to determine where the January banquet will be held. Meeting adjourned at 7:50 p.m. Jeannette Biddle, Secretary SCMC General Membership Meeting September 24, 2014 President David Hawkins brought the meeting to order at 7 p.m. Treasurer report: David Mitts reports at this time we have $2, in checking and $2, in savings. He has not totaled and deposited all the money taken in from our car show, but the info we have now is the total is approximately $5, This includes registration (not the pre-registered), the raffle, T shirts, food, water & pop, and ring toss. We had 165 cars at our show which is a very good turnout. Good comments from most of the show participants. We had 70 sponsors. The car that traveled the farthest was from Corvallis, Oregon. Old business: McDonalds Hot Rod & Harleys cruise-in on September 12 was fun. We had cars there and Judy won Best in Show with her red 65 mustang. The Naches parade September13 had 10 cars from our club in the parade. Several members attended and won trophies at the VFW car show on Sept.14 th. The clubs pony trail to the lower valley and Prosser wineries on September 20th was fun. We had 29 ponies in the convoy. The cruise in at Majors Drive In Saturday night was a success; we had a total of 38 cars and Richard won the beautiful trophy that Majors presented for best car. Dave Biddle took a photo of Richard, car and trophy, and the club will do up a picture with a plaque to present to Majors for all they did for our club. (Cont.)
5 New Business: We had new members that attended our meeting tonight and joined the club. Welcome Jan Lyons and Wes Ward, Toni and Marty Dittmar. Jeanette Biddle gave her resignation as secretary, since she had a conflict with Wednesday nights. Jan Anderson agreed to step in and take minutes for the rest of the year. Nominations for next year s officers will be held in November, and voting will take place at our Christmas party in December. The date voted on for the potluck Christmas party was Friday, 12/05/14. Guy and Jan Anderson will reserve the club house at the Sun Country Estates in Terrace Heights where they live. Tickets for this event is $25.00 PP. ($30.00 at the door) that includes dinner (potato bar w/ toppings and salad, and 1beverage). There will be a PATSY CLINE TRIBUTE by Jeanne Coady then the DESSERT AUCTION which is always fun, This event is at the SELAH CIVIC CENTER downtown SELAH. Let's help make a wish or two come true.
