2 PAGE 2 CLUB EVENTS February 11 Sat NORTHERN PINES and possibly BOWLING at STARLIGHT LANES, Flagstaff Further details to be announced. March 11 Sat Breakfast at Cameron Details to follow. Balance of the 2017 schedule is being worked out. Various Tri-Club events to be scheduled depending on the three clubs schedules. TRI-CLUB TWIN ARROWS POKER RUN A BIG SUCCESS Held November 12, about 30 cars ran the circuit from the Coca Cola plant to Twin Arrows. High hand was won by Adriane Penhaker and low hand by Jeff Bryan. Pictures provided by Robin Moore. RUMBLINGS FROM AROUND THE FLYWHEEL Elections were held at the January 11 General Meeting: see page 1 for a listing of our 2017 Officers. The Club is thankful for all the work and support that outgoing officers Mark Strango, Kathy Strango, Bob Bortree and Eric Sommers provided! Congratulations to our new officers: Robert Penhaker, Juergen Burmeister, Richard Frederico, Doug Bischoff, and Lance McKee. Unfortunately we have no pictures of the Club Christmas Dinner at the Horsemen s Lodge however we understand that the food and service were very good. At the January 11 meeting our Historian, Sean Evans, reported that he is working on a massive donation by Angel Delgadillo, (dubbed as the guardian angel of Highway Route 66 and as the main founder of the Historic Route 66 Association of Arizona,) which is being transferred to the Kline Museum at NAU. Sean will make a presentation at the Ladies Luncheon held April 18 at the 1899 restaurant. Note: significant others are welcome to come.
3 PAGE 3 NOVEMBER LADIES LUNCHEON By Kathy McKee The November Ladies Luncheon was held at the Pita Jungle, right by the Whole Foods store on Butler on November 15, The food was excellent and we all had a good time together! Those present were: Alana Velez, Maggie Bortree, Jackie Clark, Adriana Penhaker, Kathy McKee, Jann Blankenship, Joanie Baker, Shirley Rohr and Alana's friend, Linda. 4 PAGE 4 90TH ANNIVERSARY ROUTE 66 CELEBRATION With each club providing 2 cars which depicted 6 decades of the Mother Road, this Tri-Club event was held November 11 in the front parking lot of the Starlite Lanes Bowling alley. As it was also Veteran s Day there was plenty of pomp and circumstance. As part of the procedings a Navajo Princess, dressed in full Indian regalia, sang the National Anthem in English, then followed up singing it in Navajo! (See her standing next to Andy Keksis 1948 Chevrolet). Thanks to Bob Bortree for championing this event with the three clubs and the event organizers.
5 LADIES CHRISTMAS LUNCHEON By Kathy McKee PAGE 5 The Ladies Christmas Luncheon was held at the Little America Hotel on Tuesday, December 13th at noon. The dining room has been newly redecorated and is lovely, as always. We had a great time together and the service and food was excellent! Things got lively when we did our gift exchange, but we were only allowed one steal, as time was short! The gifts were well received and it looked like everyone went away happy. Those present were: Kathy Westerdahl, Binnie Zink, Jackie Clark and her sister Claudia, Linda Wolfe, Adriana Penhaker, Pat Weibe, Kathy McKee, Shirley Rohr, Alana Velez and her friend Linda, Jann Blankenship, Kathy Perkins, Maggie Bortree, Mona Keksis, Candy Howard, Judy Bischoff and Sallie Page. Pictures by Shirley Rohr N ORTHERN LIGHTS PARADE Held December 10th in Historic Downtown Flagstaff, six Club members lit their cars up and had a great time doing the parade. And for once the weather was not incredibly cold. Mac McCrorey ran his 31 Plymouth, Lance McKee his 70 Cougar, Sally Page her 73 Mustang, Randy Travis his 50 Cadillac, Ed Wiebe his 36 Chevrolet, and Richard and Kathy Frederico their DeLorean. Thanks to Kathy Frederico and Kathy McKee for the pictures.
