The section has sponsored three meetings so far this year. On March 14, Dr. Dennis Heldman, President-Elect of IFT, visited Ithaca and spoke about the current status of IFT and changes it is planning to better align with the needs of its membership. The following week, March 21, was the annual Supplier s Expo in Rochester. Thanks to the efforts of Shirley Barber, the many volunteers, and, of course, our great suppliers the event was even bigger and better this year. We had a twenty percent increase in the number of vendors who exhibited. The number of attendees held steady with last year s count; we need to increase this figure in future years. The event generated a healthy net profit for the section s treasury. The third meeting, on May 11, offered an afternoon of seminars focusing on Critical Issues on Food Safety and Security and was sponsored jointly by the Rochester and Western Associations of Sanitarians and WNYIFT. Approximately 80 people attended the seminars and the networking reception that followed. The results have been posted on the section s website for many weeks. The Executive Committee has reviewed these results and will be implementing changes to the meeting locations, formats, and timing accordingly. The section needs more volunteers. The Chair-Elect and Secretary positions soon will be open. If you are interested in taking a more active role in the section please contact anyone on the Executive Committee, we ll be glad to hear from you. Member input always is welcome. After all, it is your organization. Our next event is the Golf Outing scheduled for Tuesday, July 25 at Bristol Harbour in Canandaigua; full details inside this newsletter. 3 Volume 64 Issue 4 Page 3 Directions & Map to Bristol Harbour Golf Course From The East I - 90 Thruway to Exit 43 (Manchester) Follow Route 21 South for 7.1 miles into Canandaigua Turn left onto Main Street (This is also a continuation of Route 21 South) Go approximately 1 mile to the intersection of Routes 5 & 20 Turn right onto Routes 5 & 20 West (This is still a continuation of Rt. 21 South) Go approximately 1.5 miles Turn left onto Route 21 South. Go 0.4 mile Turn left again to remain on Route 21 South Follow Route 21 South from this point for 6.5 miles. Turn left onto Seneca Point Road Go to the stop sign, go straight, approximately 1 mile and the Main Entrance is on your right From The West I - 90 Thruway to Exit 45 (Victor - Rochester). After toll booth, bear right Turn Left on to Route 96 South. Follow Route 96 South Turn right onto Route 444 (next to Bank of Geneva). Go 6.7 miles to intersection of Routes 5 & 20 Turn left onto Routes 5 & 20 East. Go approximately 3.9 miles to flashing light Turn right onto Hickox Road. Go south on hickox road for 2.2 miles (Cross over County Road 32) Turn right on Route 21. Follow Route 21, South for 4.3 miles Turn left onto Seneca Point Road. Go to the stop sign, go straight, approximately 1 mile and Main Entrance is on your right From The South 390 North to Exit #2 (toward Cohocton & Naples) At bottom of ramp, turn right onto Route 415. At stop sign, turn right onto Route 415 Go to stop light and turn left onto Route 371 toward Naples for 4.8 miles Route 371 turns into Route 21 North. Follow Route 21 North into and through Naples Continue on Route 21 North. Merge right at the Route 21 North & Route 64 North intersection Continue on Route 21 North. Total miles on Route 21 North from Route 371 is 17.4 miles Turn right onto County Road 16 (West Lake Road) Bristol Harbour sign on right. Go approximately 0.5 mile Turn right onto Seneca Point Road.
