1 Volume 1 Issue 4 Greetings amazing Bulldog Families!!! Thank you for everyone who provided feedback on our founding year thus far. We take feedback very seriously in our effort to good from good to great and to provide your child with a world class educational experience. When asked to rate your experience with Noel Middle School thus far on a scale of 1 to 10, your collective responses were overwhelmingly positive with a 9 out of 10! What You Like About Noel Thus Far: -Strong Communication w/ Families -Positive energy and emphasis on Core Values from staff -Diversity of staff -High expectations and holding students accountable to being responsible -Emphasis on strong academics and student growth Trends We Heard for Areas to Grow: Parking Lot Safety: We still have several parents who are taking shortcuts through the parking lot during morning drop off and pick up. This is causing students to be dropped off in the parking lanes and several parents almost running into one another. To ensure everyone's safety, please make the complete loop around (no cutting through where cars are parked) and pull all they way up to the white line or directly after the car in front of you. This will ensure everyone's safety and is the most efficient way for everyone to enter and exit. Please see the parking diagram to the right for a visual representation of the expected traffic flow. We will place cones out for the next two weeks as a reminder. Once the cones are removed, please continue to follow the traffic flow path. If you are running short on time, we recommend that you drop your student off on one of the streets in front off or the side of the school and have your student walk in. Heavy Middle School Backpacks: We recognize that there are a LOT more supplies expected in middle school and this is causing extremely heavy backpacks for our students. We've heard you loud and clear. To mitigate this we have extended two hallway transitions in our day to ensure that students can place half of their materials in their lockers and trade out the other half for the afternoon. This should support students in carrying less around throughout the day. Please encourage your student(s) to use this additional time to lighten their load(s). In addition, please ensure that your student is regularly cleaning out their backpacks (removing old papers and materials) and that she or he is only carrying what is absolutely needed. Thank you for your feedback and patience with this matter. These were the only two major trends. We will follow up on a couple of individual requests as well. Two of our nominees are selected to win one of two awards. Our Principal Paw Award recognizes a student who goes above and beyond to exhibit our core values while demonstrating leadership amongst their peers. Our Breakthrough Award recognizes a student who has shown growth by being courageous and resilient. Iziah Hill: Breakthrough Award Last week s winners are: This week s winners are: Leidy Alvarez: Principal s Paw Camila Plazola: Breakthrough Award Estefany Banuelos: Principal s Paw SEEN BY A DEAN Several students were "Seen by a Dean" for having ZERO interventions since the beginning of the school year. They each received special notes in their locker and were invited to have a pizza lunch with the deans. Each student also received a goody bag with treats to take home. 3 Attention Parents with a Voice Do you love having a say with things that pertain your student s in school? If so, you cannot miss out on our STP meeting Wed, October 17 th from 5:00-5:45pm. Our first meeting will consist of getting to know what the group is all about and how your ideas and support can make our founding year the best year possible for our students! We will organize and plan events for our school community, and come up with plans on how to solve situations parents are concerned with and much more. We can t wait to collaborate with you! And hear your voice to make our community grow stronger. Attendance is one of our top priorities at Noel. Being at school each day will help us meet and exceed our academic goals for the year. As a reminder, there are several days where students do not have school that are perfect times to schedule doctor appointments and other pre-planned events. Our upcoming days off are: Friday, September 28 Monday, October 22 Tuesday, October 23 If you cannot schedule during these times, we encourage you to still have your student present at school for some portion of the day to maximize their learning and decrease full days of absences. Clubs and Sports DSST Noel Sports & Activities community! We have some exciting news to share with you as it pertains to our extracurricular activities. The fall sports season is close to coming to an end. Our Volleyball team currently holds a record of 1-3. Their season will conclude on October 10th vs Kipp Kipp NE 4:30pm. Please get out and support our lady bulldogs in their last match of the season! Our Boys soccer team holds a record of 1-3. Their season will conclude on October 8th vs. DSST DSST Cole 4:00pm. Please come support them, as they bring the season to a close. Last but not least, is our Co-Ed Cross Country team. They have their final meet on October Colorado Academy 9am. Please come cheer them on as they race against some of Colorado's fastest runners. The girls basketball season will start with tryouts October 24th and 26th from 4-6pm. The boys basketball season won't begin until mid January. Our after school clubs program is underway. We are offering the following clubs; Amine, Chess, Cooking, Crafts, Hiking, Peer tutoring, and Taekwondo. Students had the opportunity to select their top three choices of clubs. We placed most all students in one of their top two choices. We will have club information on the website soon. Trimester 1 clubs will run through November 16th. Some of the clubs will continue into trimester two, while other will conclude. We will add new clubs based on student interest and their ability to recruit adult sponsors. Have a great weekend! 4 Volume 1 Issue 4 Saludos increíbles familias de Bulldog!! Gracias a todos los que brindaron comentarios sobre nuestro año de fundación hasta el momento. Nos tomamos muy en serio los comentarios en nuestro esfuerzo de bueno a bueno y para brindarle a su hijo una experiencia educativa de clase mundial. Cuando se le pidió que calificara su experiencia con Noel Middle School hasta el momento en una escala del 1 al 10, sus respuestas colectivas fueron abrumadoramente positivas con un 9 de 10. Tendencias que escuchamos para que las áreas crezcan: Seguridad en el estacionamiento: todavía tenemos varios padres que están tomando atajos por el estacionamiento durante la mañana, dejar y recoger. Esto está causando que los estudiantes sean dejados en los carriles de estacionamiento y varios padres casi se chocan entre sí. Para garantizar la seguridad de todos, haga un bucle completo (no haga ningún corte en el lugar donde están estacionados los autos) y jale todo el camino hasta la línea blanca o directamente después del auto que está frente a usted. Esto garantizará la seguridad de todos y es la forma más eficiente para que todos entren y salgan. Consulte el diagrama de estacionamiento a la derecha para ver una representación visual del flujo de tráfico esperado. Pondremos conos a cabo durante las próximas dos semanas como recordatorio. Mochilas pesadas en la secundaria: Reconocemos que se esperan MUCHO más suministros en la escuela secundaria y esto está causando mochilas extremadamente pesadas para nuestros estudiantes. Los hemos escuchado fuerte y claro. Para mitigar esto, hemos extendido dos transiciones de pasillo en nuestro día para asegurarnos de que los estudiantes puedan colocar la mitad de sus materiales en sus armarios y cambiar la otra mitad por la tarde. Esto debería ayudar a los estudiantes a llevar menos a lo largo del día. Por favor anime a su estudiante (s) a usar este tiempo adicional para aligerar su carga(s). Además, asegúrese de que su hijo(a) esté limpiando regularmente sus mochilas (retirando papeles y materiales viejos) y que él o ella solo lleve lo que sea absolutamente necesario. 6 Atención padres con voz Te encanta tener algo que decir con las cosas que pertenecen a tu hijo en la escuela? Si es así, no puedes perderte nuestra reunión de STP el miércoles 17 de octubre de 5: 00-5: 45pm. Nuestra primera reunión consistirá en conocer de qué se trata el grupo y cómo sus ideas y apoyo pueden hacer de nuestro año fundacional el mejor año posible para nuestros estudiantes. Organizaremos y planearemos eventos para nuestra comunidad escolar, y propondremos planes sobre cómo resolver situaciones con las que los padres están preocupados y mucho más. No podemos esperar para colaborar contigo! Y escucha tu voz para que nuestra comunidad crezca más fuerte. La asistencia es una de nuestras principales prioridades en Noel. Estar en la escuela todos los días nos ayudará a cumplir y superar nuestras metas académicas para el año. Como recordatorio, hay varios días en los que los estudiantes no tienen escuela que son tiempos perfectos para programar citas con el médico y otros eventos planificados previamente. Nuestros próximos días libres son: Viernes, 28 de septiembre Lunes, 22 de octubre Martes, 23 de octubre Si no puede programar durante estos horarios, lo alentamos a que todavía tenga a su estudiante presente en la escuela durante una parte del día para maximizar su aprendizaje y disminuir los días completos de ausencias. Clubes y deportes Comunidad de DSST Noel de clubes y deportes! Tenemos algunas noticias interesantes que compartir con usted en relación con nuestras actividades extracurriculares. La temporada de deportes de otoño está a punto de llegar a su fin. Nuestro equipo de voleibol actualmente tiene un récord de 1-3. Su temporada concluirá el 10 de octubre contra Kipp Kipp NE 4:30 pm. Por favor, salgan y apoyen a nuestros bulldogs en su último partido de la temporada! Nuestro equipo de fútbol masculino tiene un récord de 1-3. Su temporada concluirá el 8 de octubre contra DSST DSST Cole 4:00 pm. Por favor, vengan a apoyarlos, ya que cierran la temporada. Por último, pero no menos importante, es nuestro equipo Co-Ed Cross Country. Tienen su último encuentro el 6 de octubre en Colorado Academy a las 9am. Por favor vengan a animarlos mientras compiten contra algunos de los corredores más rápidos de Colorado. La temporada de baloncesto femenino comenzará con las pruebas el 24 y 26 de octubre de 4 a 6 pm. La temporada de baloncesto masculino no comenzará hasta mediados de enero. Los estudiantes tuvieron la oportunidad de seleccionar sus tres mejores opciones de clubes. Colocamos a la mayoría de los estudiantes en una de sus dos mejores opciones. Tendremos información del club en el sitio web pronto. Los clubes del Trimestre 1 correrán hasta el 16 de noviembre. Algunos de los clubes continuarán en el segundo trimestre, mientras que otros concluirán.
