2 Audio visual equipment An overhead projector will be available for the use throughout the symposium. A data projector (for PowerPoint presentations) will also be available, but participants should request this facility at least two weeks in advance. An office with PC and printer will be available throughout the symposium. Please note that large photocopying facilities will not be available. To get to the WZB from the President Best Western Hotel Take Bus 129 (the bus stop is located across the street) to Potsdamer Brücke (approx. 5 stops). Cross over the canal/bridge and go left. You should see the WZB. The front of the building still has the old front facade. The back of building is painted in blue and salmon stripes. You can also take a 15-minutes-walk from the hotel to the WZB. Please find the route on the attached map.

3 Accommodation and meals For those who have requested accommodation, rooms have been reserved at the President Best Western Hotel President Best Western Hotel An der Urania Berlin Phone +49.(0) Fax +49.(0) The hotel will be booked for you from here, and we will pay single rooms for the two nights (including breakfast) from 16/17 and 17/18 of July 2004 directly to the hotel. Car parking is available for participants at the hotel, parking extra charge is EUR 9,20/day. How to find the hotel By taxi Even though we cannot reimburse taxis, we would recommend to take them, because going by taxi is inexpensive in Berlin. A taxi will cost about EUR 20 from Airport Tegel, EUR 13 from Airport Tempelhof and EUR 9 from Zoologischer Garten Train Station. By public transport Another easy way to get around in Berlin is to use the public transport. You can either buy a day ticket for EUR 5,60 or a "WelcomeCard" for EUR 21. For more information have a look at the Web-site of the Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe (BVG).

4 How to find the hotel Airport Tegel Take Bus 109 from Tegel Airport to the corner of Adenauerplatz/Kudamm (about 14 stops). There change to Bus 129 (it's the same bus stop). Take Bus 129 to the bus stop "An der Urania" (7 stops, as well as the first stop after Wittenbergplatz and KaDeWe.) Cross the street in the direction that the bus was traveling and turn right. The Hotel President is in the middle of the block. Airport Tempelhof Take Bus 119 from Tempelhof Airport to the bus stop, "An der Urania" (about 14 stops). Cross the street in the direction that the bus was traveling and turn right. The Hotel President is in the middle of the block. Train Station Zoologischer Garten Take Bus 100 to the bus stop, "Schillstraße" (4 stops). Walk to the corner (Schillstraße/An der Urania) and turn right. The Hotel President is in the middle of the block. Note, taxi journeys cannot be reimbursed. Meals All meals and refreshments except the preconference get-together on Friday will be provided by the organizers. For further details see program. 5 Reimbursement rules Accommodation The hotel will be booked for you from here, and we will pay single rooms for the two nights from 16/17 and 17/18 of July 2004 directly to the hotel. According to administrative restrictions, we cannot pay additional hotel nights, additional hotel services or extra cost for double rooms. Travel The WZB settles travel accounts based on the Federal German Travel Regulations (Bundesreisekostengesetz). The following receipts are required for reimbursement:: plane ticket and receipt/invoice of your travel agent. for electronic tickets booked via internet: receipt/invoice of the the ticket and boarding pass (so as to demonstrate that you made the flight indeed). train ticket and receipt/invoice of your travel agent. Only tourist or economy class APEX/Euro budget fares will be reimbursed. Please book your flight/train as soon as possible to meet reimbursement requirements. Make sure that you obtain a receipt/invoice which must be sent to the WZB for reimbursement (together with the ticket or boarding pass for e-tickets). Taxi journeys cannot be reimbursed. Other expenses All other expenses, e.g. additional hotel services, taxi journeys etc., cannot be reimbursed. When registering for the conference, you receive a reimbursement form with the heading travel expenses. Since we need the originals, you are asked to fill in and send this form together with the original tickets and receipts/invoices to the WZB after you have returned home from the conference. The amount due will be transferred to your personal bank account. Note, that no part payments will be made at the conference.
