Hi Every One, Christmas is coming along in leaps and bounds and we need to put plans in to place for the Christmas Party. As discussed last meeting we will be holding the Christmas party at Ken and Noelle s home. We will be self catering and with help from our members in regards to salads and deserts will help spread the load with in our members. Meats and drinks and decos etc will be sorted with committee. There is a Christmas Party page in the Don with details. There will be list of foods which we might need for the party and if you feel you can help in that area please put your name against the item. Or you might have a speciality which you would love to bring on the night. We will reimburse you for monies spent with a receipt outlining expenditure. I went to the Redcliffe Odyssey which was an interesting weekend. There were representatives from as far away as Bundaberg, Sunshine Coast. There were a number of members who were the only representative for their club. So the Darling Downs and Brisbane formed their own Branch called the Brisbane Downs branch for the day. There were quiet a lot of day trippers for the Saturday games. I do believe they had about 100 turn up for the weekend. The games were assorted and geared to all abilities. We had stone the Gnome, boat racing not the usual boat race I must admit. Toss the tyre and throw and twist the balls. Disc throwing a bit like lawn bowls. There were a number of raffles with some great prizes on offer. The weather held and pub was a meeting place for football which was on. Also the Harley Davidson boys rocked into Blackbutt and partied to the wee hours of the morning to 4 am. So it was a full on weekend for Blackbutt for the bikes. With quiet lot of money spent on the weekend in the town. So thanks to Redcliffe for the great weekend and the time and effort which was put into the event. Hopefully next year we will organise a day trip to the Odyssey and represent our club and fly our colours proudly on the day. Cheers Sue K.W.

AS I AGE, I REALIZE THAT: 1. I talk to myself, because sometimes I need expert advice. 2. Sometimes I roll my eyes out loud. 3. I don't need anger management. I need people to stop pissing me off. 4. My people skills are just fine. It's my tolerance of idiots that needs work. 5. The biggest lie I tell myself is "I don't need to write that down, I'll remember it." 6. When I was a child I thought nap time was punishment. Now it's like a mini vacation. 7. The day the world runs out of wine is just too terrible to think about. 8. Even duct tape can't fix stupid, but it can muffle the sound! 9. Wouldn't it be great if we could put ourselves in the dryer for ten minutes; come out wrinkle-free and three sizes smaller. 10. If God wanted me to touch my toes, he would've put them on my knees. 11. When the kids text me "plz" which is shorter than please. I text back "no" which is shorter than "yes". 12. At my age "Getting lucky" means walking into a room and remembering what I came in there for.

JOKES CONTINUED Aussie logic A Catholic Priest, an Indian Doctor, a rich Chinese businessman and an Aussie were waiting one morning for a particularly slow group of golfers in front of them. The Aussie fumed, 'What's with those blokes? We must have been waiting for fifteen minutes!' The Indian Doctor chimed in, 'I don't know, but I've never seen such poor golf!' The Chinese businessman called out 'Move it, time is money' The Catholic Priest said, 'Here comes George the greenkeeper. Let's have a word with him.' 'Hello, George' Said the Catholic Priest. 'What's wrong with that group Ahead of us? They're rather slow, aren't they?' George the greenkeeper replied, 'Oh, yes. That's a group of blind fire fighters. They lost their sight saving our clubhouse from a fire last year, so we always let them play for free any time.' The group fell silent for a moment. The Catholic Priest said, 'That's so sad. I think I will say a special prayer for them tonight.' The Indian Doctor said, 'Good idea. I'm going to contact my ophthalmologist colleague and see if there's anything he can do for them.' The Chinese Businessman replied, 'I think I'll donate $50,000 to the fire-fighters in honour of these brave souls.' The Aussie said, 'Why the f#*k can't they play at night?'

HORIZONS UNLIMITED WEEKEND I recently went to a Horizons Unlimited weekend at Boonah. Horizons Unlimited is a web community of people who travel, are interested in or who dream (like me) of world travel by motorcycle. (See horizonsunlimited.com). They tell amazing stories, give valuable information on travel procedures for various countries, practical demos of tyre changing, bike electrics on the go, etc. (See the web site for the programme from the Queensland weekend). These events are held at various places around the world and we are fortunate to have had one here annually for at least the last three years. The photos are of Peter Forward s Harley. He (and his pillion wife) have ridden it in every country on the UN register (193) including North Korea (see map). Absolutely amazing. His photos of riding it on muddy rutted tracks in the Congo, transporting it across rivers on canoes etc are incredible. Peter lives just outside Brisbane somewhere. If you want a really interesting and stimulating weekend keep your eye on the website for notices about next year s event which I assume will be about September Rod Stevens

THURSDAY 1 ST OCTOBER 2015 PETER B S RIDE The weather was just perfect for riding not too hot, not too cold, just perfect, and we didn t have to get up at an ungodly hour of the morning to meet what more could you want NOTHING. Start time was 10.00am; Ken was there just before me 9ish so plenty of time for a coffee and a chat, then Geoff, Roy, John Maca, Rod, Glenn, Graeme from Mt Lindsay, and lastly Peter B. Peter had to rush his coffee as we were all champing at the bit to go for a ride. Ken led us out to Boonah, past one overturned van, with police in attendance, a quick pit stop at Springleigh Park in Boonah where there is a group photo with an Ambulance in the background. We did chat for a while though. Back on the road again and headed towards Rathdowney, turning at Carneys Creek to head up towards Queen Mary Falls. A couple of the boys had close calls with oncoming traffic as the road is narrow, twisty and steep in some places. Once you get up higher the scenery opens out across green valleys. Some of the road has cattle grates, so you never know if there is going to be cattle on the road just around the next corner. The scenery changes again, becomes steep and twisty, with the lush growth coming right up to the edge of the road, this is where Peter had his accident, and it s no wonder he was hard to find, the growth here is so thick. Finally arrived at the Spring Creek Mountain Café & Cottages, where the views from the verandah are brilliant and the meals are extremely good. Some of Peters Spyder friends joined us as well, coming from Killarney direction. Over lunch we all chatted on for quite a bit, but finally decided it was time to start for home. By the time we started down the mountain there had been a light fall of rain, just enough to make parts of the winding road damp. We all made it safely back to Flavours Café in Boonah for a coffee and goodbyes. What a great day for riding and a good destination thank you Ken for leading, and Peter thank you for the idea and lunch. T.E.C Claire S

MID WEEK RIDE 7 TH OCTOBER. The four Amigos pondered what the day would bring as they sat around at the Goodna Macca s starting point on a great sunny Wednesday morning. Ken, Rod, Glen & Geoff were it and what we lacked in numbers we made up in enthusiasm to get out there and kill some K s with the wind up our nostrils. A lunch date was made for the Quinalow pub with our friend from Bell and Kwaka rider Arthur. Kenny took us west on the highway to Blacksoil, playing Russian Roulette again with the ever increasing peak hour traffic and then up to Esk along the Brisbane Valley Highway which was also busy. It was great to hit the quieter roads up towards Crows Nest and past Lake Perseverance before rolling into Crows Nest for a comfort stop and a coffee hit. Rod ran into interesting friends from Mackay who were passing through town and after goodbyes, we were back into the saddle and heading north. A strong NE wind sprung up and there was a large bush fire burning in the mountains to the east of us. There is grass a metre high along the roadside up there and it must be a worry to farmers if some slacker starts a fire. Luckily the thicker smoke stayed away from us. After a short trip up the New England Hwy, we diverted down roads I have not seen before through Haden and Evergreen to Quinalow. There is something about lonely country roads and quaint little towns that is good for the inner peace. The day was warming up as we made ourselves at home on the Quinalow pub verandah and caught up on some old and new stories with Arthur. The pub is the only one for a fair distance around and soon there were about 40 people lining up for lunch. The lady behind the bar with a cockatiel running over her head and the accompanying poop down her top, soon got very busy with drinks and meal orders. Good pub food and prices to match. It turned out a busy little town with heavy vehicles passing through and the pub would be pumpin on Friday nights. After goodbyes with Arthur, we headed south towards Dalby then east through great Darling Downs farms and villages to Highfields at Toowoomba for fuel. A nice ride down through Murphy s Creek to the Highway and more goodbyes. Then back into the rat race again back towards Brissie and we were hounded by some tailgate terrorists who really do need an education by a burly enforcer! Ken did it again, new roads, pubs & friends in low places. What will we do for new thrills when he is soon munching Yak burgers in the upper atmosphere for a few weeks?? Thanks Ken for all your efforts and Glen and Rod for making it a fun day amongst kindred spirits being disgraceful as best they can. Geoff Crumpled Rump

CASINO / TENTERFIELD RIDE 12TH OCTOBER There was a reasonable gathering of the troops on the morning. Though Bruno and Les were there for meet and greet and were not joining us on the ride. There were 8 riders for the ride a nice number for the day. Then there were 7. The weather looked good and we were all eager to get going even though we left later than planned. Ken was our illustrious leader leading us to Beaudesert through to Rathdoney for our first pit stop. Other bike groups were already there when we arrived. A small exchange of words and we were on our way up over Mount Lindsey through to Kyogle where Sue 2 decided to leave the ride and head back along Lions Road. Our first fuel stop was at Casino followed by lunch. Consensus was that we should mark the pub on the return list as we were very impressed by the food on offer. Paul left us there making his own way home. Then there were 6. The weather for cast was a possible storm brewing from the south heading north. So decided to try and out run it. Did not happen we got caught and stopped at Drake to put on the wet weather gear and frightened the rain away. The ride to Tenterfield was interesting with caravans and cars and bikes winding up through the mountains. We regrouped at Tenterfield and headed to Applethorpe for fuel and a much needed break with coffee. By this time it was 4.15 and there was still a good couple of hours of riding to do. Ken took the group on a new road on from the other side of Warwick through to Freestone to cut down the time as time was slipping past quickly. Sue KW decided she had enough and made the decision to leave the ride at Warwick and headed for Clifton to stay over night with friends. Then there were 5. She was not keen on riding in the dark particularly at dusk. There was a welcomed beer, feed and bed in that order for the night for Sue. Headed off in the morning arriving home in one piece by lunch time. Numerous texts were sent to each other so every one knew we all got home in one piece after such a long day. Some members did not arrive home until 7pm or later. Well that was another ride under our belts where we all arrived home safe and sound. Even though we did not have the same number at the end of ride as the start. Members on the ride. Sue2, Ken and John, Claire and Paul, Suekw, Michael and Damian. Cheers Sue KW

RIDE ETIQUTTE The following points are offered purely as guidelines --- they are NOT rules On every ride, at all times, you are responsible for your own safety and that of those around you, but the items suggested should make it easier for everyone to enjoy group rides if they are followed when possible. RIDE LEADERS 1. Before leaving, advise riders of destination and proposed stopping points. 2. Minimise lane changes --- there is a convoy behind you. 3. When at rest stops, give 5 minutes notice to riders before leaving. RIDERS 1. Keep at least one bike in view in your mirrors, if possible. 2. No>fy Tail---End Charlie if you are leaving the ride. 3. Do NOT overtake on corners, on bends, or at double solid lines. 4. Bikes to be fully fuelled before the start of the ride. 5. Always ride safely and within the law. CORNER MARKERS 1. Each junction is marked by the rider who is behind the ride leader, so others know when to turn off. 2. Pull over safely near the corner/junction with indicator on. 3. Others will see you and know that this is where to turn. 4. Wait for Tail---End Charlie to come into view, and pull out before him/her if safe to do so. 5. If not, wait for Tail---End Charlie to ride past, fall in behind him/her, and overtake when it is safe. ************************************************************ *********************
