Welcome to Dale Farm Rural Campsite Thank you for booking, we are very much looking forward to welcoming you to Dale Farm and the local area. Please read the following guide as it has important information regarding your pitch allocation, our site rules and other useful information. Directions/Accessing the site Approaching from Manchester You will most likely come via Monsal Head, through Little Longstone after which you will need to look for Moor Road on the left as the road bends round to the right. Approaching from Bakewell You will drive through Great Longstone village, past the White Lion and the Crispin on the left after which you will need to look for Moor Road on the right as the road bends to the left. 300meters or so up Moor Road you will see a sign on the left-hand side to our farm. 1 50meters or so further down on the right are two entrances before the road ends, the first being the campsite and the second the farm. 2 Notes to larger vehicles: 1 The turn can be slightly tight so we advise to stay over to the right before turning in. 2 The first is generally the entrance you will want to use (as it will be easiest to reverse a caravan onto the pitch) but if your vehicle is extra-large you may use the farm entrance (we do not advise this though as it makes it difficult to reverse/motor move on to the pitches as this will be uphill). Again this turn can be a bit tight so we advise you keep over to the left prior to turning in and pinch a bit of the pitch on the left if needed to widen the angle. Parking We are only a small camp site and we have very limited space for parking. Parking is NOT permitted along the lane next to the camp site as space is crucial to allow for passing places. Please remember this is a farm lane and access for wide agricultural vehicles is required. There is a risk of wide vehicles scratching your car if you block access so please use common sense and do not park along the lane. Additional friends and family cars are NOT permitted on site unless they are staying with us and the car has been booked in. There is plenty of free parking in Great Longstone village which is only a few minutes walk down the hill. Touring, Hillside and Large Hilltop pitches Please park your car on your pitch in a sensible way so not to inhibit other campers. Although our larger pitches may be able to accommodate an additional car or two, we think the camp site should be as spacious and car free as possible in order for everyone to enjoy the rural setting. We don't want the pitches to become a car park which is why there are charges for additional vehicles.
Medium Hilltop/Glamping field parking These areas are car free zones so please leave your car at the top of the track on the left-hand side. Please park sensibly to leave plenty of room for other cars. Visitors/Guests Unfortunately, we are unable to allow visitors/guests on site. There are some lovely pubs and a park in the village where it would be possible to meet your friends and family. Locating your pitch As a small camp site on a family run farm, we do not have a formal office or reception for people to 'check in'. Although there is often someone around, we are not always available to meet and greet so we like to think that the adventure starts from the moment you arrive. If you can t see your pitch from your car feel free to get out and have a walk around. Have a look at our site map below for further information regarding the layout of our site. Pitches are allocated based on the pitch type you booked, check your booking confirmation to confirm this, if you are unsure please see a member of our team before pitching up. If you pitch up in the wrong area we may have to ask you to move so please do not just setup anywhere. If you have a campervan or motorhome and go out for the day without leaving anything on the pitch to hint it is being used there is the possibility that someone may setup on this pitch. This is not a problem though as you will simply need to select another of the same type of pitch on your return, if unsure please ask. If this is a problem for you it is advised that you bring a reserved sign to leave on your pitch. Pitch type Pitch # Area Allocation Touring electric hardstanding pitch 1-2 First come first served Touring electric grass pitch (medium) 3 Touring pitches Reserved (as only one) Touring electric grass pitch (large) 4-7 First come first served Hillside non-electric grass pitch First come first served Hillside pitches Hillside electric grass pitch* First come first served Hilltop non-electric grass pitch (medium) First come first served Hilltop pitches Hilltop non-electric grass pitch (large) First come first served Glamping field Glamping field First come first served All the pitches can be accessed by entering through the main (first) entrance to the campsite, please only use the farm entrance to exit the site if your vehicle is too large to make the turn. Each pitch is labelled with its pitch type eg. Touring, Hillside, Hilltop, Glamping Touring pitches These are the first set of pitches you come to as you enter the site, 1-3 on the left and 4-7 on the right.
Hillside pitches From the campsite entrance follow the track past the electric pitches about 30meters just through the gap in the fence you will immediately find the hillside non-electric pitches on the left and electric pitches on the right. * If you have booked a non-electric pitch please fill pitches first, if these are all taken may be then used. Comfort bell tent This is half way up the hill on the right-hand side. Please park on the grass behind the tent, during winter you may need to park at the top of the track on the stone area. Hilltop pitches From the campsite entrance follow the windy track up the field, before this ends you will find the hilltop pitches on the right-hand side. Large hilltop first (please park on the end of the pitch) then medium hilltop after (please park on the grass to the left of the track). Glamping field pitches and the secluded bell tents From the campsite entrance follow the windy track up the field until it ends, here you will find the glamping field and the secluded bell tents.
Our site rules PLEASE READ Please note the following rules which we ask people to follow in order to maintain a pleasant and enjoyable stay for everyone. If you suspect any of these rules are being broken please notify a member of our team. We will not hesitate to terminate the stay of anyone who fails to respect our code of conduct. Fires and BBQs Fires/BBQs are permitted providing they are raised off the ground by legs at least 40cm long. Please dispose of ash in the designated bin, not in the grass or bushes. Please do not burn items from around the farm. Taking/borrowing things Do not take anything from around the farm without prior consent. This includes logs/wood, chairs, or any items not belonging to you. Do not take stones from the boundary walls for any reason Do not take items from the glamping field or around the bell tents, including fire pits and chairs. There is an additional charge for using these items which is not included in a non-glamping pitch types. Safety around the farm As this is a working farm we ask parents not to let their children play in or around the farm yard as it is unsafe, this includes riding bicycles through the farm yard. When using these areas children should be supervised. Play should be limited to the grassy areas of the camping fields. Noise/antisocial behaviour Keep noise to a minimum Whilst we want everyone to have an enjoyable and fun time, we are generally a quiet site, so rowdy behaviour, shouting, swearing and antisocial noise will not be tolerated. No amplified music is permitted. Acoustic music is allowed, at a low level. Dogs Dogs must be kept on a short lead at all times on the farm as we are a working farm and there are animals around, no exceptions. Please clean up after your dog, this is another reason for the rule above, you can see where your dog has been. Private areas Do not enter any of the farm buildings, hay barn or sheds unless accompanied by a staff member. If you are unsure if it s private, please ask. Do not trespass into the neighbouring fields at any time. Horses and other animals Please do not feed or pet any of the horses or animals around the farm without checking with a member of our team that it is okay to do so. Rubbish and recycling Please leave your pitch tidy and place rubbish in the designated rubbish and recycling bins.
Please take any large items you no longer require home with you, for example air beds, camping chairs, water carriers, tents etc. We are not a tip and do not have the facility to dispose of large items. Washrooms The toilets/washrooms are in the main farm yard area, look for a sign above the doors for "washrooms". We have 3 toilets and a shower, these can get busy at peak times (mainly first thing in the morning) so advise you try and plan around this. The shower is operated on a coin meter to enable the fair use of this facility. Dogs are not permitted in the washrooms for any reason. Farm shop Our farm shop sells our own produce, meat, eggs, jams and cakes. We also sell fire wood and rent fire pits. The shop is generally open from 7-7pm but we sometimes shut for an hour or two during the day if needed. Fire pits These are available to rent on a first come first served basis, please ask one of the team on arrival and we will, if possible, bring it to your pitch. We also rent cast iron BBQ grills which can be used with our fire pits. Pubs We are a 5min walk from 2 excellent village pubs serving food. The Crispin serves no nonsense pub grub and a huge selection of beers. The White Lion has great food at a reasonable price and open fires. 15min walk across lovely fields to The Pack Horse Inn which has open fires, a great atmosphere and lovely food with Thornbridge beers). Be sure to book ahead during busy times. 5mins on from The Pack Horse is The Monsal Head which has a stable bar and good food. All our local pubs are dog friendly and have beer gardens. Things to see and do We are in a great location for walking or cycling on the Monsal trail, or for trips to Bakewell, Buxton, Chatsworth etc. We re always happy to give local knowledge and advice based on what you want to see and do. Walks & Runs There are many walks and runs to do starting from the farm. We will be adding some of our favourites to the website Mountain biking There are also many mountain bike routes we regularly do starting from the farm. We will be adding some of our favourites to the website Sights and attractions Chatsworth, Bakewell, Buxton, Hope, Castleton, Ladybower, Matlock, Eyam and the various caverns are all within a 30min drive from the farm.
