Good Evening Everyone, Another month has slipped past our fingers and we are well and truly on our way to Christmas. Yes it is a scary thought and we tend to think about what we have done and what we intend to do before the end of the year. I know we made promises to ourselves, I believe it is called our New Year Resolutions. We are maybe still intending to fulfil our resolutions or are still on the path of doing so. I have found having a bucket list is a great way of crossing off things which we might like to do, not necessarily in a particular time frame but something which can be achieved with no pressure from you the bucket list holder. My bucket list was not very long to start with but recently I have crossed off a few items and added more. When crossing off the items it made me feel I was on the right path, even if the item on the bucket list took some time to achieve. In August I will be going on my first cruise which I am very excited about and was on my bucket list for some time. An opportunity arrived out of the blue, which I happily accepted. This cruise will also be ticked off and other bucket list items which is even better. I believe if you create your bucket list and write it down, it tends to cement the idea better than just thinking about it. If it s written and some place where you can see it gives the bucket list substance as it will help you keep you on the path to achieve your goals. The bucket list can be as grand as you like or simple pleasures which have evaded you for some reason and were put on the backburner. So have a shot at it. It will not happen overnight but give it a chance, you just never know unless you try. Other than that I think that is all from me this month. Keep those articles coming in and the jokes. Cheers Sue K.W.
DICK STAAL Riding to work this morning, feeling the cold a bit more than usual I suddenly remembered the Dribble was due today. Fearing Sue s wrath I immediately set upon the task on arriving at my desk. Time seems to be speeding up as I get older. It seems like just yesterday I wrote the big dribble on the AGM. I managed to get out on my first full ride for a while when I joined the gang for the Twisties ride. It was a chilly morning but promised to warm up to a perfect riding day. I had to think hard about which bike to take as the Harley is hard work in the tight stuff, especially when you scrape the pegs. No matter how many times it happens it still scares the s#*t out of you. My commuter Versys is much more fun in that stuff but the Harley hadn t seen the light of day for a while so I took it. Turned out to be one of those WOW days with good weather, a lot of new roads and good company. Claire was the notable absentee and after an urgent call before we headed off found out, It was too cold. What a girl. She will be hearing about that one for a while. While on the cold weather it would be remiss of me not to remind you to be careful in those cold mornings. That is if you don t have the heated grips and bum warmers like some. I don t have all that fancy stuff, so I tough it out but you have to remember to keep the hands working in case you have to make that emergency stop or manoeuvre. It has happened to all of us I m sure where you go to grab a lever and the hand doesn t respond as it should. All in all the weather has been brilliant for riding, apart from the chilly mornings, so for the lucky ones who can, get out and enjoy the ride. Last month Andrew gave us a talk about his experience in racing a bike in South Africa. This was well received as I don t believe anyone knew about it and it turned out to be very interesting, funny and informative. It got me thinking, we should make it a regular thing where a member talks about his or her experiences either on a bike (or elsewhere). I know there will be some verrrrry interesting stories to tell. Watch this space. Remember every day above ground is a good day. Dick

Tom finally decided to tie the knot with his long-time girlfriend. One evening, after their honeymoon, he was welding some stuff in the garage, just for fun. His new wife was standing there at the bench watching him. After a long period of silence she finally spoke... "Honey, I've just been thinking, now that we are married, maybe it's time you quit spending all your time out here in the shop. You probably should just consider selling all your welders along with your gun collection and that stupid vintage Harley. Tom got a horrified look on his face. She said, "Darling, what's wrong?" He replied, "There for a minute you were starting to sound like my ex-wife." "Ex-wife!" she screamed, "YOU NEVER TOLD ME YOU WERE MARRIED BEFORE!" Tom replied, I wasn't."
MORE LAUGHS THE ZIPPER A man walked into a supermarket with his zipper down. A lady cashier walked up to him and said, Your barracks door is open. Not a phrase that men normally use, he went on his way looking a bit puzzled. When he was about done shopping, a man came up and said, Your fly is open. He zipped up and finished his shopping. At the checkout, he intentionally got in the line where the lady was who told him about his barracks door. He was planning to have a little fun with her, so when he reached the counter he said, When you saw my barracks door open, did you see a Marine standing in there at attention? The lady (naturally smarter than the man) thought for a moment and said, No, no, I didn't. All I saw was a disabled veteran sitting on a couple of old duffel bags.
The day looked like it was going to be a top day for the Cartwheel Poker ride. We had a small turn up of riders for the day including Ken, Adrian, Roy, Michael, Bruno, Dick, Sue K.W. and John Mc. Our first roll of the dice was done under the watchful eyes of all. Les could not be on the ride due to work but had given in his $10 to be in the draw. CARTWHEEL POKER RIDE - HARRISVILLE 2017 Ken was our leader for the day and we took some backroads which made the ride interesting. Dick left us south of Jimboomba, due to family commitment and at our first stop, our roll the dice was in a great park in Jimboomba. After having a bit of a look around it was decided it would be a good venue for any future BBQ trailer ride. We rode along the backroads, which brought us out on to the main road between Boonah and Beaudesert and headed to the Wyalong dam for the next dice throw. We were trying to throw the dice so we could either be high in number or low in number and at that time it was anyones chance of winning the prize at Harrisville. We were aiming to get to Harrisville early to beat the rush, which we did arriving about We could smell the food cooking out the back and it was our first point of call. We found some great seats and then the riders started to arrive in their numbers. We counted that there were roughly 200 riders on the morning which was a great run out. The food didn t last long and people headed to the pub for a feed. We did well on the raffles with our table winning three prizes on the day. All in all it was good day with $1400 made on the day, a great effort from everyone. We headed home about 1.30, going our separate ways. Bruno, Sue and Michael headed home while the rest of group went on for more of a ride. So thanks to everyone who supported us on the day. Everyone arrived home safely, which is the important thing with so many on the roads especially on a perfect Sunday for riding. Sue KW Cheers Sue KW
THE BLUE MOUNTAINS RIDE DAY FOUR - THURSDAY 30th MARCH 2017 KATOOMBA BLUE MOUNTAINS The sky was looking a little overcast and the weather reports weren t good, the news kept mentioning cyclone Debbie creating havoc with the weather all down the coast. and it didn t! Left the hotel about 7am and easily found the highway south to Kiama and the Blowhole. We spent about half an hour walking around and admiring the view and waiting for the hole to blow we saw one very small blow not enough wave action. We had just found a café for breakfast in Kiama when the rain started. We did have a good breakfast, we dawdled over breakfast all hoping the rain would go away while we waited, So we all donned our wet weather gear before heading out in the heavy rain. Back up the highway towards Wollongong and found the turnoff we were looking for a great achievement in itself! We headed for Camden and then Penrith. Our next sightseeing stop had been cancelled due to the rain and us all agreeing just to get to our next destination and out of the rain. What a day to come across major road works, and you guessed it. Arthur and I got separated from the group and decided it was a good time to look at a new housing estate! Several phone calls later, we agreed to meet at our accommodation. The temperature had started to drop from low 20 s to mid-teens and was starting to feel cool. Arthur and I managed somehow to do a loop and saw Camden twice, then got our bearings and found our way up the Blue Mountains to Katoomba and straight to our hotel. We didn t have to wait long for our room to be ready. Meanwhile everyone else was having a shower and starting to get their gear dry and warm up. Must say our rooms looked like Chinese laundries for a few hours! Eventually a hot shower and dry clothes for Arthur and I. The boys had already headed up to the main street to find John some new riding boots his had lost their souls sorry soles! So John found a bargain and was well pleased. We caught up and had a coffee at the Mad Hatter s Café next to The Hat Shop where else would you find a Mad Hatters Café? Did have a browse around the hat shop after coffee though. Then back to our rooms for a reorganisation of our gear is it dry yet?! My friend Sandra joined us for dinner at the Hotel and told a few stories about the past all lies of course. The hotel had free entertainment, with the locals coming in to listen to the local group and they took it all very seriously. They didn t appreciate us chatting away! We did have a drink back in Ken s room afterwards, then early to bed after the long day. Claire

IMPROMPTU RIDE 28TH JUNE 2017 Maccas Goodna was our meeting point. This ride was Bruno s idea what a great idea. Bruno, Roy, David P, Rob H and Alan W were the starters for this last minute ride. Roy was our ride leader this morning. He led us out to the Cunningham Highway, and left onto Middle Road and followed this into Peak Crossing, then headed towards Kalbar, turning left at Milora and onto Roadvale-Harrisville Road, right onto Roadvale Road, left onto Roadvale-Teviotville Road, then onto Hoya Road which brings you out at Springleigh Park, just a short ride into the town centre and Flavours Café. The street scaping outside the café is finally finished. The finished work looks nice but not much room for bikes. Rob regaled us with stories from his cruise down to Sydney with his son to go watch the footy game and what a great time he had on the cruise and also exploring Sydney. The experience sounded like great fun. After morning tea Bruno and Rob headed for home. David headed down to Rathdowney to do a loop before going home and Roy, Alan and self, headed up the Gap and onto the Cedar Route at Gladfield, coming out on the New England Highway near Allora, then taking the Gatton-Clifton Road past the Darling Downs Zoo, down through Ma Ma Creek and into Gatton. A short trip to Forest Hill for a light lunch, a really tasty pizza split three ways and then we headed off home. Alan went to visit a friend nearby. What a great day for a ride it was, clear skies and just the right temperature to be on your bike! Claire T.E.C.
TWISTIES SUNDAY 2nd JULY If you did not have your Frosties cereal before you got on the bike, then riding to Maccas for the Twisty Sunday ride you would sure have had the frosties experience on the tidbits that hang off us all.brrrrr. the first cold ride for many. But the number who turned up was great, a true grit band of bikers on a perfect ride day. Roy and John Mac were the first to arrive and then Dick, Glen, Paul, Bruno, Rolfe, Adrian, David & Rose, Geoff and new guy Phil on his Yamy cruiser. Kenny and Noelle arrived also to wish us well and then drove off to NSW. Claire called in sick but was with us in spirit. Adrian was the brave soul who put his hand up to lead and Rolfe took on the rear guardian of wayward bikers. Coffees and chit chat done, Adrian took us down the M1 with those on four wheels and heaters giving us silly buggers stares but we soon headed east into sunshine towards Gilberton and then wound our way through the cane fields to Norwell and Pimpama. Crossing over the M1 and heading south along Ruffles Road, we went through Oxenford and Maudsland then along the Canungra road through Clagiraba and turned south into Beechmont Road. The Beechmont ride is always a tyre warmer and with little traffic and not many other bikers, it was a dream run. Bruno and Phil turned for home at this stage and we soon found out that Adrian had some more mystery twisty rides up his sleeve. Up to Beechmont and down the other side to the Nerang-Murwillumbah Road is must-do, great riding. Heading south in the Numinbah Valley, the traffic and groups of bikers started to increase dramatically but a lone traffic cop car booking a P plater car driver kept us all in check. We took a pitstop at the Natural Arch café, which soon filled up with a lot of older deafish people who all had to shout to be heard, just like us. Outside was a fantastic collection of MG sports cars of all eras and with no canopies, it would have been a chilly start for their crews too. We witnessed many a hog doing their thing past the café with their no mufflers noise sending cups shaking in their saucers. Most had no gloves and open face helmets so we could see how the real men do their stuff. Dick hung his head in shame. Speed limits went out the window but the Traffic Police we had just passed may have had writer s cramp when the hogs arrived. Coffee hits and loo business done again, we motored south through Chillingham, Crystal Creek, Kynnumboon and then north through Tomewin into the Currumbin Valley twists. Through Tallebudgera and onto the M1 again at Reedy Creek. We soon pulled up at the Wallaby Hotel at Mudgeeraba at lunch time with twisties fever and a well-earned appetite. Many of us had zoomed past this pub on the nearby highway but another great food stop find for most of us. Thanks Adrian, good one mate. It was world champ fight day so carparks and bars were filling up fast but we had a good spot out the back with some sunshine. Home up the M1 ended a good days ride. The ride was planned by Ken but Adrian did a top job out the front where it can be lonely at times. Some great new roads for many of us and we later found out it was Adrian s old stomping grounds. The moans and groans and creaking knees getting up and down at the lunch table were testimony to a ride well done. Thanks to all who turned up and made it a fun ride day. Always great to have a lovely lady like Rose amongst us to tame the beasts and heaven knows, some need it!!! DENTED AND FROSTIE DANGLERS.
