1 October 2006 No. 152 Ian Swinbourne s deep yellow 32 tourer licenced two weeks ago. Great job Ian. Ford Vs Non-ford in West Coast Shootout The last 12 months has hosted a huge increase in licenced club hot rods. Ford and non-ford. First the acquisitions of Jimbo s Dodge then Ralph s T Bucket and 32 ford pickup. Then there is new member Warren s Chevy tourer. Curnow s 32 ford roadster was licensed followed by Gary King s A roadster. Then Dave K s 37 Chev ute, was followed recently by Ian Swinbourne s 32 ford tourer. Where is the next non-ford action coming from? Frenchie s rebuilt 35 Chev coupe and Eric s 39 Willys coupe should be the next ones on the road. But what about Joe Carbone s Jail bar for the first half of 2007? Will that keep balance in ford s favour? Secretive Steve Calleja s Chev pickup is also lurking somewhere. WOW... Fast furious hot rod action.

3 FROM THE EDITORS DESK Hello Klaxon Collectors. Here is your October 2006 edition of one of hot roddings most collectable items. Read and absorb it. Cherish it and then put it in a safe place. Ever wondered why you don t find Klaxons in second hand magazine shops. Think about that! It is that time of the month again when I lose several nights of hot rod building activity to bring you this little piece of literary heaven, so I hope you enjoy it. Nifty A lot has happened in recent weeks. In my short life, I have managed to stop a lot things. Eg. wetting the bed, but I couldn t stop having another anniversary of my birthday. The one that has separated me from old people like Barb Gibb and Yvonne Mulder. Yep your editor is now 50. May be I will be more sensible now. Right! Only Rosemary Curnow is left to go this year. (assuming secret squirrel Steve Calleja has had his already.) Next year I can think of AB, Pottsy and Peter Hunter(?) who are due to do the same. Yeah! The State Title Show is fast approaching us. Naturally I am not going to mention here what our club display will be, because loose lips sinks ships. The spies from other clubs read the Klaxon for just that kind of information. They will never guess that we are doing a scene from 101 Dalmatians. Show date and entry details are given further into this Klaxon. Do not delay your entry. There has to be fewer entries this year due to changes at the venue. Well, for lack of exciting contributions this month, I have included the wonderful minutes from August that Blossom failed to supply for last edition. Happy reading. Now I know Lars and MS can both write a great Klaxon article. I have a good memory of them. How about guys? Turned How in hell did that happen? I gotta go and work this one out. Catch you all next month. Extreme E.

4 Above: Artwork by AB depicts the Rover 75 that I drove AB in, to the Serpentine Falls Run in The Vauxhall Vagabond and HK Monaro that did a lot of work while building the coupe between 1974 and 1981, My 34 Plymouth Sedan c , Willys Coupe MK1 and the Swedish Chick Magnet too. He missed the 64 Vauxhall Velox that Gibby once borrowed and sold for me in the mid 70s. AB s got a good memory.

10 Moora Rod Run News Update - Easter 2007 UPDATE. More requests have been received by members wishing to park their caravans at the Barracks. Wendy (prop) has confirmed that it will not be a problem for her, just that the members will have to share the plumbing facilities a bit further. So we will have to set a limit. At this stage I have likely bookings for : Bob and Yvonne, Eric & Co. in the Barracks and in caravans there is Frenchs, Greg and Maree Foulds and Greg and Jo Potts. Power to caravans is non existent. Possibly an extension cord to Brian s van will be the limit. For better caravan facilities, the Moora Caravan Park is a small walking distance from the Barracks. Book thru the Shire. Call me if you want to reserve a room at the Barracks. Not Wendy. The Barracks Wendy. 7 double $50/night, 4 single $40/night rooms, Community toilets and bathrooms. 11 THE BODY SNATCHER The date - November 2005 The location Cookernup The culprit Nashty I must say I was warned, I was told if it gets into Nashty s workshop at Real Steel Rod and Custom down Cookernup way it won t get out for a very long time. Well the story goes like this, I was in need of a metal mean to do some work on my 33 Roadster, I was put onto Ian Willis (Nashty) after many phone calls lobbying and catching up with Ian at different venues pleading with him to take on the task of the Roadster, I got a phone call one night to say that he could squeeze me in. Gee was I excited!! After several interviews (Nashty won t take on any old job you know!) I delivered the cowl section and the plan was laid out, I said TAKE YOUR TIME I m IN NO HURRY. Well we all learn by mistakes. (I should know a lot more than the rest of you) yes, I have been given visitation rights to drop in and pay my respects to the cowl, Nashty has been working on it day and night and yes Nashty still has the Cowl, we are progressing. I wish to take this opportunity to arrange a reunion between Nashty, Myself and my 73 year old friend the Cowl. I had thought about sending Ian an anniversary card but thought that may be a bit rude! Oh bugger it I ll do it anyway. The names in this story have been left unchanged to blame the guilty. ps: this has only been written in haste to provide our EXTREME editor Eric with a bit of filler in this top notch magazine and the above story is all true. I guess I had better warn Nashty of the pending article. I will give you an update on speedy Rod building in saaaaaay 2009 BLOSS. Editors Note: Nashty s isn t in the race for thoroughness compared with Spanky s Hot Rod Shop in Gidgegannup or the once infamous Rick Garvey Alcatraz Panel Shop in Bassendean, where no car ever escaped! That said, Rick was responsible for the bodywork on the Willys and Frenchies 34 sedan on the first times around.
