Attendees included Mac & Diane MacPherson, Mike Brake, Anne Tunnell, Richard & Twink Burmann, Jane & John Allen, Vic & Stephanie Terrell, Virgil & Sharon White, Tony Bowker, Lou Schweizer, Ray Galdi and John & Karen Pepe. The minutes for the May meeting were included in the last newsletter, Mac made motion to approve, Anne seconded and accepted by unanimous acclaim. Diane assured the members that we have sufficient funds to continue operation with income of $, expenses of $, leaving a balance of $. Stephanie lead a discussion on upcoming tours. The proposed tour to East County was postponed as the road thru Pine Valley will be closed for a Parade at the time we planned to pass. Ray suggested we join the Model A club on their tour scheduled for July 13, After some discussion we agreed to attend, bring your own lunch, the club will defray the costs of the ice cream social. We will meet at Palomar Estates East Club House at 650 S Santa Fe Road, San Marcos. Cross roads are Rancho Santa Fe Road & San Marcos Blvd, across from Vons. We will meet at 9am, leaving at 9:30am. Breakfast will be available at 8am. Stephanie made a motion that the club reimburse Ray Galdi $25 for the ice cream social, motion proposed by Mac, seconded by John Pepe, accepted by unanimous acclaim Stephanie suggested a run out to Leo Carrillo Ranch historic park for the August tour, time & date to be advised. Mac reminded everyone about the car show at Cruise & Grand on Friday starting at 4pm. Mac also reminded about the Game day at Del Mar Fairgrounds, great fun, meet at Albertsons at 9am, enter fairgrounds promptly at 9:30am for games. When games over at noon, you are free to wander around Fairgrounds. Bring the grandkids, they love the games and afterwards at the fairgrounds. For September, Stephanie suggested a tour to Motte Museum, start at Park-and-Ride at junction of I-15 and Hwy 76. Stephanie suggested a spring tour to Sierra Vista, AZ. Tony will make a proposal for a Feb or March tour by the next meeting. The 50/50 drawing was won by Vic Terrell. Stephanie received news that Craig French's barn has suffered a break-in, with many hand tools missing. Being no further business, Stephanie closed the meeting at 7:23pm. Respectfully submitted Tony Bowker, Secretary July 2013 Hidden Valley Model T Club Commutator Page 2

7 Proposed Tour to Sierra Vista area for Spring At the last General meeting there was a request for an overnight tour to Sierra Vista. This was the area where the late lamented Shoot Out Tours took place. They were usually held in September, and occasionally we would get an afternoon thunderstorm and we could get VERY wet. It was suggested that the event be in February or March, latter preferred by Virgil White who is familiar with weather the area. The area is 509 miles from our home in Ramona, so it is a little further than Death Valley, but the traffic is less with Tucson the only sizable town on the route. If we had four days touring, then we would need to book into the hotel for five nights, the rate at the Windemere Hotel from the internet would seem to be $94 per night but could be reduced if we were able to get a group rate. There are other motels in Sierra Vista that range from $49 to $100 a night, usually with less facilities and they might be fine if we don't need group meals, a bar or a restaurant on site. Day 1 could be a simple run from Sierra Vista to Bisbee, the route out could be through Hereford, which is quite flat and a more direct route back which includes a long hill out of Bisbee, mileage would be about 60 miles. Day 2 could be out from Sierra Vista to Patagonia for lunch through Sonoita and back thru the Army base (if allowed) over some really narrow, quite but paved roads, with a distance of 80 miles with no serious hills. Day 3 could be run north from Sierra Vista to Benson, (about one mile of freeway) then south to Tombstone and then direct back to Sierra Vista with a distance of 80 miles. Again there are no serious hills. We could include stops at the Kartchner Caverns or the Titan Missile Silos. Days 4 could be a run from Sierra Vista out to Douglas, with lunch at the hotel and back to SV for a run of 110 miles. So this is the proposal, any other ideas and suggested are most welcome, let's make it a discussion item at the next meeting.
