We had a wonderful turnout at our April social for the 30th anniversary of the Central VT HOG Chapter with a guest list that included Barbara Wilkins along with Ann & Bill Lyon. Linda gave a brief history of the Chapter that lead into the introduction to one of the original members Joe Benning who gave a very entertaining talk of his experiences over his course of thirty years within the Central VT HOG Chapter. Joe also brought with him an incredible collection of memorabilia he has assembled from his three decades as a Central VT HOG member, something we hope to have on display soon at Wilkins for at least a short time. On Saturday, April 21st, some of the HOG members fed lunch to the staff members of Wilkins along with any of the dealership customers who came in that day. I want to thank all the members who pitched in and helped make this happen! Following lunch, the officers held a meeting to discuss some possible Chapter events and activities for the 2018 season, we talked about the purchase of Chapter patches for resale we could have on hand for those who would be interested in them as well as changing the location of our May social to one of our sponsoring business's which we chose O'Maddi's Delaurant in Northfield on the Common. Wilkins will be starting their Riding Academy this weekend, it's a great personalized course that accommodates only 6 people at a time for those who want to enter the exciting world of motorcycling. Some of the HOG members will be at the conclusion of most of the course's to offer the graduates a chance to get together at their convenience for those who would like to learn more about a "group ride experience". The goal of this would be to give the new riders the opportunity to feel a little more comfortable about participating in a group ride without having to actually be in larger assembly, most of us can understand how the first few times can be intimidating. This would be a non-hog gathering that would take place during a weekday evening and include basic group riding guidelines, understanding hand signals as well as a short ride down Route 14 into Randolph then back up Route 12 or 12A into Northfield. Executive Road Captain Update Brion Muzzy Please check the schedule of rides on pages 5 and 6. A planning meeting of Road Captains will be held soon.

Activities Director Update Justen Elliott Greetings AllWell the weather looks like it's finally taking a change 'for the better.' If you haven't had the bike out yet, maybe this will be the week? On April 21st, the Chapter Officers served a spaghetti lunch for the staff and customers at Wilkins Harley Davidson. We had the opportunity to socialize with customers, raise a little money for the chapter with a 50/50 ticket drawing, and fill a lot of bellies with spaghetti. After lunch we had a Officer's meeting and went over several upcoming events and activities to get us into the summer riding season. There are several ways to check out our upcoming events: 1st. Come out to our monthly meeting.. We always take time and talk about our upcoming events / rides for the next month. 2nd. Check out our Chapter Facebook page.. We do our best posting the latest info. on events there. 3rd. Check out the event calendar either at our Chapter web page or Wilkins web page " we share the same event calendar" 4th. Spread the word, if you see an interesting ride / event you can always spread the information to friends. ****Please note if you grab a hard copy of our events/rides**** it may not be the latest version as rides / events are added to our schedule. Well, time to get out and do a little yard work then maybe, a short ride today. SADDLE UP LET'S RIDE!!!! Justen

Ben Drury and Joe Lonardo are teaming up to provide a Memorial Day ride to the Charlotte Motor Speedway to watch the Coca-Cola 600. The race is on Sunday, May 27. The ride will be leaving early morning on Saturday, May 26 with a Saturday overnight along the way, arriving in Charlotte on Sunday. The trip down will be super slab for most of the way, therefore an EZ-PASS is required for tolls. The ride will depart Monday morning the 28th, arriving home on Tuesday, May 29 with the return trip being less highway. Of utmost importance is booking the hotel in Charlotte for the evening of the race and although a bit more expensive than what we would normally be looking for, we picked a hotel that is only 1-mile from the speedway and they still have rooms available. If you plan to go, please go and book your room right now...you can get a flexible rate that allows you to cancel up until 2-days prior, so it would be best to book now if you have even an inkling of going because you can always cancel later and it is expected that they will sell out soon. We did book 4 rooms (all with 2-Queen beds) at $ including tax, but they are not blocked rooms, rather booked under our credit card so if you were to claim one of these rooms and then cancel at the last minute, we would be out the money (even though we could probably find out where you live!).the hotel name is Hampton Inn & Suites Concord Charlotte, 9850 Weddington Road Extension, Concord, NC or the link to their site is: index.htmlif you are not a race fan, the #1 most visited attraction in North Carolina is located nearby, the Concord Mills Mall featuring 200 stores, a NASCAR theme park and 24 movie screens. Lastly, if you have any questions, call Ben at or him at bendsoc@msn.com. AND please let him know if you plan to go and that you booked a room and/or if you are interested in going and want to share a room, put a feeler out there to the CVBIKERS@yahoogroups.com .
