3 Freedom Flyer Page 3 3 DIRECTOR Butch Araiza Let me start off by saying I am very happy to be our HOG Director for As many of you know I was director for many years and always enjoyed the position My main objective for this coming year is to try and build the membership. For that purpose I have asked the E- Board to lower the dues from $26 to $20, which they agreed on. Those who paid $26 will have several options to get their money back (they will have to attend a meeting to do so) and we will announce the ways at the January and February meetings. So start this year with the mission to build membership and ride and have fun! I am also changing the raffle each month back to gifts from Quaids which they have offered to do. I would like to thank the Quaid Family for their ongoing support for LLHOG. As I believe most of you know without sponsoring dealers there would be no local chapter. Hope to see you at he monthly meeting on the 18th and the Transition Dinner on the 24th of January. On January 31st, Quaids will have the Quaid Raid from 10 am to 2 pm. Stop and have a burger or hot dog. The first chapter overnight ride will be Death Valley, March 27th thru 29th. I will have motel information at the meeting Ride safe, Butch Here is a NASA tidbit to share: It seems when Apollo Mission Astronaut, Neil Armstrong first walked on the moon, he not only gave his famous One small step for man, One giant leap for mankind statement, but followed it by several remarks usual com traffic between him, the other astronauts and Mission Control. Before he reentered the lander, he made this enigmatic remark, Good luck Mr. Gorsky. Many people at NASA thought it was a casual remark concerning some rival Soviet Cosmonaut, however, upon checking, there was no Gorsky in either the Russian nor American space programs. In 1995 a reporter brought up the years old question to Armstrong, who is Mr. Gorsky. He finally responded. It seems that Mr. Gorsky had finally died and he felt he could answer the question. When he was a kid, he was playing baseball with his brother in the backyard. His brother hit a fly ball which landed in front of his neighbors bedroom window. His neighbors were Mr. & Mrs. Gorsky. As he leaned down to pick it up, he heard Mrs. Gorsky shouting at Mr. Gorsky, O**l Sex, O**l Sex you want: You ll get o**l sex when the kid next door walks on the moon! Any way we are on our way this year with our newly elected Officers and hopefully our Chapter will grow as we continue on this year. I d like to thank the Membership in allowing me to be your Treasurer again this year. Lots of hard work and volunteers will be needed from the Chapter Members to make our LLHOG Chapter the best in the Inland Empire. Financially the funds in the Chapter s Account are sound and enough for the Chapter to function with our upcoming Premier Event in Apr First up this year is our Transition Dinner to thank our outgoing Chapter Officers and to welcome our new Chapter Officers. Due to the extra funds in our account the Transition Dinner will cost the members only $ so make sure you get your tickets on or before the Jan Chapter meeting on the 18th. We need volunteers to man the Bar B Que grill on the 31st of Jan for the Quaid Raid Event hosted by the Dealership. Let your Officers know to sign up for the cooking crew. Come April we are supporting the Quaid s Pre Laughlin Open House and the Hope Autism School. More info to follow.
