2 PAGE 2 ARABIAN KNIGHTS OCTOBER 2018 Potentate s Message Greetings nobles and Ladies, Fall is coming, soon the leaves will fall. Where did the time go? I want to thank Knobby and Doc and the Clowns on Chairing the Family Picnic, El Said Court #28 for face painting, and Jim Greer for the thirty years of train rides. A big thanks to all that helped putting up and tearing down. I hope everyone had a good time, and ate good! The Imperial Session in Daytona Beach was very informational, all our Officers took a lot home from the Seminars, we even had some time to have some fun. We are now getting ready to go to the GLSA in Grand Rapids, we will have a New Unit unveiled there, watch for it! The Finance Committee is still working on the finances of our Shrine. We will have an update at the October Business Meeting. The Divan is working on keeping the Doors open for years to come. We have been working on getting the Shrine Banquet Facility-Saginaw ( Pulaski Hall) as a Banquet Hall. We have a Professional Event Planer working with us to get it up and running, the Future looks promising. Just a reminder to the Clubs and Units, as you elect your Officers for 2019, forward the results to Betty, so she can get them in the Pocket Calendar. Our Halloween Party is coming on the October 28th starting at noon at the Shrine Banquet Facility-Saginaw ( Pulaski Hall). Charles and Ruth Hill are the Chairman, I am sure they could use some help. Lets all dress up and come out in costume!! Dues are now due. We have 51 Nobles that are up for NPD, 2 years in arrears. This is way too many. If you are having difficulties paying your Dues, get with Clarence Meyers, he may be able to help. Lets not forget about the Fall Ceremonial on November 3rd, get those Petitions in. The future of our Temple depends on it. Last, but not least, get out and go to a Club Meeting...or a Unit Meeting..or a Business Meeting. The Black Camel has taken too many Nobles, we need all the Nobles we can get!! Any Noble wanting to run for an Office needs to have a background check done before the Election at the December Business Meeting.

This year is rapidly coming to a closure and several things still remain on the calendar; 1. October 10, Business Meeting at Saginaw with Dinner at 6 P.M. Meeting at 7 P.M., 2. October 16 is Circus Kick Off at 6 P.M., 3. Halloween Party is October 28, 12-2 P.M. at Saginaw Shrine Hall, 4. November 3, is Shrine Ceremonial at Circus Park, BRING CANDIDATES, 5. December 1, Clubs and Units are having Installation of Officers at Circus Park, starting with Dinner at 6 P.M., 6. December 8, Arab Patrol Christmas Party at Saginaw Shrine Hall with Dinner at 5 P.M., 7. December 12, Election of Officers and Business Meeting in Saginaw, with Dinner at 6 P.M. and Meeting at 7 P.M. Nobles, our membership is now just fewer than 1200 Nobles and we need to do some recruiting to bring in new and/or restored Shriners. The Membership approved at the September 12, 2018 Meeting to join the Imperial Potentate s Membership Plan and bring 35 Masons into the Shrine. Our Membership co-chairmen for 2019 will be Phil Brack and Barry Thurston. These Nobles will accept gladly any help offered by our Nobles to reach our goal of 35 New Members in Imperial Potentate Cain s term of office. Elf Khurafeh has 49 Nobles who will be suspended on December 31, 2018 for Non Payment of Dues. Our Potentate John Berry is working hard to bring that number way down by sending personal letters and making phone calls. Any Noble that would like to help by making contact with Nobles that are in danger of being suspended please call the Recorder for a list of names. Membership is a big problem at almost all Shrine Temples. We all need to help with this problem of declining membership. Fraternally, Clarence W. We open at 5:30 with dinner at 6:30. All Nobles, ladies and guests are welcome at the Fenton V.F.W. Hall. Meals are just $10 with a donation bar. The Club will close out the Shrine year with its Election of Officers on November 8th; and Installation of Officers on December 13th. After the area circuses meetings will resume on Valentine s Day, February 14, The Club plans to offer options for a Club day trip. Details will be available at our regular meetings. A candidate for an elected office in a Shrine Temple may print, publish and circulate during the year he is seeking the elected office, a resume consisting of his educational background, his vocational history, and his Masonic and Shrine record. Except as provided in the prior sentence, the printing, publication, circulating or distributing of resolutions, letters, telegrams, tickets, or other devices, by a unit, club, noble or group of nobles, suggesting, recommending, opposing, or continuing the name of proposed candidates for office in the temple is prohibited. (b) Expenditures Prohibited. The expenditure of money for gifts, favors, or entertainment on behalf of a candidate for elected office is prohibited. (c) Violation. For any violation of (a) or (b), the Imperial Potentate may suspend any offending noble, and he may declare the election of officers void and order a new election. (d) Notice. At least one week prior to the annual meeting or any election, the temple recorder shall mail to each memeber a notice thereof containing this section.
