1 United Daughters of the Confederacy North Carolina Division TO: NC Division Presidents CONVENTION CALL...116TH ANNUAL CONVENTION FROM: District I, Convention Hostess and NC Division President As many of you prepare to take your summer breaks, it is important that you inform your chapter members of the NC Division Convention scheduled Wednesday, Oct. 3 through Saturday, Oct. 6, Please make each member aware of the deadlines for registration, hotel room reservations, meal reservations, etc. as many of these may occur before you resume your regular schedule in the fall. Feel free to make additional copies if necessary. Voting body of the Division Convention shall consist of all Division Officers, Ex-Division Presidents, dues paying Honorary Division Presidents, Committee Chairmen, District Directors, Chapter Presidents and duly elected Chapter Delegates. All UDC members are encouraged to attend the Executive Board Meeting and Business Sessions. Guests are welcome to attend non-business functions including, Memorial Service, Welcome Evening Banquet, Friendship Luncheon, Historical Evening & Bestowal of Military Service Awards Ceremony and Reception. Convention badge must be worn at all Business Meetings. CONVENTION HOTEL: One Resort Drive, Asheville, NC Reservations must be made directly with the hotel at (828) or toll free ( You must state that you are with the United Daughters of the Confederacy to receive the convention rate of $109 Single/Double+tax. (Onsite complimentary parking). Check In 4:00 PM and Check Out 11:00 AM RESERVATIONS MUST BE MADE BY Monday, September 3, 2012 to secure the convention rate. BOOK EARLY!!! After that date, room rates revert to regular hotel rates. DIRECTIONS TO HOTEL: 1-40 going West, Exit 53-B onto I-240 West towards downtown Asheville. As you cross the French Broad River Bridge merge into the far right lane, marked as an Exit Only for Exit 3-B (labeled Westgate and Resort Dr). Merge into the right lane as you pass the Westgate Shopping Center. Our driveway is IMMEDIATELY as you round the curve to your right. ELECTION OF NC DIVISION OFFICERS: Election of officers will take place Friday, October 5, 2012, between 8:30 and 11:30 am. Recommendations from the Nominating Committee will appear in the September issue of the NC Division Newsletter, The Confederate Courier. Additional nominations may be made from the floor of the convention with the consent of the nominee. INSTALLATION OF DISTRICT DIRECTORS : District Directors will be installed during the last business session of the Convention. Items may be retrieved from Expo Center following the close of the Second Business Session on Friday, October 5th at 4:00 PM. Delegates who are also entitled to a personal vote may cast a maximum of two (2) votes, one (1) chapter vote plus one (1) personal vote. Delegates not entitled to a personal vote may cast only one (1) chapter vote. Delegates may not cast chapter or personal votes in another's absence.
