XLII NO. 10 OUR 42ND YEAR BIG SIR S MESSAGE I just returned from a vacation in Ireland to the town where I was born. I had a wonderful time with family and old friends, but I m afraid I don t have much to say this month. I can say that I enjoyed our September luncheon very much, and hope you did too. Cecil Green was great leading us in song Ned Lawrence tells me Cecil is 95 years old. The speaker was good. Tim Leveque finally got to share his funny stories. But most of all, I think this luncheon showed that Branch 47 can have a bright future. We had a crowd despite the parking problems, and our colleagues from the former Branch 122 seemed well integrated among the tables. And best of all, we had a large number of guests sponsored by our members. In fact, we already have two new members as a result. That should make us very optimistic. Loss of friends is inevitable in an organization like ours. And goodness knows we have seen that this year. The key is whether we are able to move beyond the loss and add new faces, new opinions, and new ideas to the Branch. John Freel, Big Sir Page 1
