2 IN MEMORIAM ROBERT (BOB) BRIDWELL Sirs February 2017 speaker FEBRUARY LUNCH MENU February 28th Salad Corned Beef, boiled red potatoes and cabbage Alternative: Penne pomodoro Pasta and vegetables Rolls and butter Dessert Note: Price increase to $27 Our speaker for February will be Andrew Barclay, Public Information Officer for the California Highway Patrol, Marin area He will discuss the outreach programs that the Highway Patrol handles, in particular senior citizen programs Little Sir Paul Bell Executive Committee Meeting Highlights JANUARY 9, On behalf of State SIR President Donald Dill, Area Governor Sokolowski presented Jake Solomon with a certificate of appreciation for his outstanding service to SIR 2 Jake reported that McInnis Park Restaurant has increased the price for our luncheons to $2700 per person After discussion, the board voted to collect this amount from members, beginning at the January meeting 3 Jake also noted that we would probably have trouble scheduling board meetings at the Marin Community Foundation, due to changes in their operation Tim Leveque reported that McInnis Park will let us use their board room for our board meetings, at no charge After discussion, the board voted to hold subsequent board meetings at McInnis Park This change should be noted in our newsletter and on our web site The secretary should also notify State SIR of the change 4 Paul Schofield reported that on January 1, 2016, our checking account balance was $10,28464 During 2016, our general fund received income of $ from dues payments by 109 members and had expenditures of $2,36080 Our custodial fund received income of $27,94200 and had expenditures of $30,81701 Our checking account balance on December 31, 2016, was $8, Yearly dues for 2017 will again be $3500 per member Payments will be collected at the January meeting SIR Br 47 Chinese New noon on Wed Feb 15, the Kirin Chinese Restaurant 6135 Geary Blvd San Francisco This is our first party in 2017 to kick off the Year of the Rooster (our SIRS Mascot) with a Chinese banquet The menu includes: *Rainbow Chicken Salad *Minced Squab with Lettuce Cup *Steam Whole Winter Melon Soup *Prawns with Honey Roasted Walnut *Peking Duck *Stuffed Chicken with Sweet Rice *Steak Cubes with Broccoli *Salt and Pepper Pork Chop *Lemon Chicken * Dessert or Fresh Fruit * Tea Cost is $39 / person * Expect to bring extra food home Invite spouses and other guests to help us celebrate Tickets are on sale at the Br 47 January 24, 2017 luncheon Reservations required Or contact See or seestom@gmailcom The deadline for taking reservations is Feb10, 2017 Thomas A Brady Acting Secretary Page 2

5 Executive Committee Meeting Highlights JANUARY 23, 2017 Big Sir Report: The board will meet at McInnis Park Board Room starting in January, 2017 The Board Room is located in the Golf Pro Shop at the room in the Southwest corner Meetings start at 10:30 Tim will initiate a new policy of recognizing two outstanding Branch 47 members who regularly contribute greatly to branch activities and functions Each will receive a free lunch ticket as a reminder to all members of their many activities The first two awards will go to Kurt Heilman and Russ Flaum for their continued efforts to improve our Sirs experience Tim plans to present two awards each month to our branch members as a way to acknowledge their contributions Little Sir ReportThe roster book is also available as a PDF file thanks to Russ FlaumThe branch secretary will forward the book to dignitaries as listed in the Sirs Manual Treasurers Report: Our current checking account balance is $ This will be increased by the 2017 dues of $3500 or approximately $3780 This amount will be solely dependent on the number of dues paying members in branch 47 for the fiscal year Paul Bell, Little Sir, and Will Kaefer, Assistant Treasurer, will need to have their signatures authorized and will need to go to Union Bank in Northgate with Paul Schofield immediately following the January 24 lunch to complete this task Old Business: : Recruiting of new members and making sure all Sirs have a meaningful experience in Sirs is the responsibility of all members Get to know members whom you have not met, bring your friends and new acquaintances to lunch as a guest and continue to talk with Bill Donnelly about your thoughts on keeping a healthy flow of new members New Business Ned Lawrence and Pierre Terrier will fill vacancies on the bowling and hiking groups starting in January The Branch Audit has been completed by the Audit Committee and will be submitted to the state this month Thanks to Forest Van Vleck and Bill Smith for their efforts in completing the necessary paperwork Ned Lawrence, Branch 47 Secretary Branch 47 Outings NOTE: If anyone has a suggestion for a Br 47 Outing or event, please let Kurt Heilman know so he can include it in our future Outings 1 Marin Jazz Group regularly performs at The Mayflower Inn, th Street, San Rafael, (415) The 2nd & 4th Wednesdays of every month from 7:30 9:30 pm No cover, no minimum The Mayflower features a full license, a wide selection of beers and great pub food!
