2 Big Sir s Corner Little Sir s Corner Big Sir Message Welcome! The Sir's Tree was very young when it sprouted its second branch. The roots of the fledgling tree were at first shallow but grew deeper as the tree developed more branches and acquired strength. Look at us now! Many Sir birds have gathered in and on our Branch as the years progressed and as the tree grew tens of thousands in it's many branches came to enjoy it's shelter. I am proud to join with you in Sir's Branch number two. It has withstood the test of time and storms. Hang on! I'm sure that the winds will occasionally blow and we will lock arms and hang in there together. Bring your friends -- there's plenty room in this branch for a lot more! Remember that occasionally we group together at the races, at ballgames, at show and dinner events. Listen and consider when new activities are announced and join together to enjoy them. Stay young at heart! Bowl with Russ Weeks! Incidentally, be prepared -- he, Russ is going to meet you at the door when we meet this month) He will explain to you the benefits of bowling: The camaraderie, the healthy exercise... U.S. NAVY (RET) Bob commanded a LST (LANDING SHIP TANK) during WWll in the South Pacific. LST was an amphibious assault ship for landing tanks on beachheads. Bob will give us some insight in its original development and how it contributed to the war efforts. It also has been used in other U.S. conflicts. This should be a very interesting discussion for our members as some of us may have seen it in action. The Play will be: "Travels With My Aunt" by the master story teller, Graham Green, in which a conventional retired bank manager joins his free spirited Aunt Augusta to visit exotic and far flung places. A personal "check-in" call was placed to Sir Robby Robinson, DR 106 who is recovering from eye surgery. His progress is steady. A request may be made by letter to your Attendance Chairman for a review of the decision of termination within three (3) weeks of the date of Form Letter #4. If none is received within this period, the termination is final. Certification of your attendance at another Branch will be considered as a credit to your Attendance Record. August 2, 2012 Star Time: 12:45 PM New York Mets Vs San Francisco Giants 141 lower box seats in section 131 have been reserved for SIRs as well as cheaper seats elsewhere in the stadium. The day to visit the will be April 26, 2012 at 1:00 PM. There are only a few slots left on our bay bridge construction tour, April 26 at1pm,meeting at the Project office on Burma St in Oakland. (a map will be enclosed with instruct6ions and waiver papers when you apply). Rubber soled walking shoes or boots are required and there is no seating on board the boat. Shoes and bowling balls are available. Many Area 7 tournaments are scheduled. Check with Chairman. GOLF: SIR s Area 7 Golf Club Tilden Park Every Tuesday, Daybreak Until 8:30AM (Except Holidays and weather permitting) Join fellow Sirs and enjoy a morning of fun golf. Although the interest in these activities by Branch 2 members has been minimal, be aware that there are a large number of Sirs participating in other branches. They are very active and participate in many tournaments. Golf at Tilden Park is still available and at less cost than most other courses!
