The Antelope Valley Corvette Club originated in 1969 and will celebrate its 46th birthday in Our club has meetings on the 1st Wednesday of the month at 7:00 p.m. We meet at The Sizzler, 853 W Palmdale Blvd, Palmdale. If you would like to eat dinner first, please come at 6:00. Any potential new members are welcome to attend a meeting. All new members must own a Corvette.

Hold club picnics (movie runs, etc.) There are many different types of Corvettes in the club, from old to new, original to custom. There are also several anniversary editions and a couple of pace cars. The Vette Voice is the official publication of the Antelope Valley Corvette Club. It is published monthly after the business meeting, and is distributed to all club members in good standing, to potential members interested in joining the club and to other clubs in the area. Articles that pertain to Corvettes, A.V.C.C members, or the Antelope Valley are always welcomed. The Antelope Valley Corvette Club is a non-profit organization formed by those who are proud of America s greatest and longest lived sports car, the CORVETTE! We are the true meaning of pride of ownership. Annual membership dues are $36 per year, per member ($60 per couple). Also required to join the Antelope Valley Corvette Club, members must join our national organization of National Council of Corvette Clubs (NCCC).

3 Presidents Report Summer time Although this article isn t directly corvette related, it is about getting out and seeing the sight of this great country of ours. If anyone wants to tag along for any part or all of our little adventure, you are welcome to. Summer time is quickly approaching and many of us have our vacation plans already in their final stages. Others, play it by ear. The rest are retired with every day, a vacation. I d like to say that I m a planner but, for one reason or another, my plans have to change or completely fall apart. Even then, we still try to get away. This year we hope to take our motorhome out for a few weeks and go to a few places and/or events that we haven t been to before. We had planned on visiting my niece and her family up in Reno. They recently moved there from San Jose just following the birth of their second son. When considering a good time to go, we searched the internet and discovered that Hot August Nights is the first week of August. We ve always been interested in attending at lease a few day of this event so we figured if we picked the first week of August to visit my niece we d be able to attend part of Hot August Nights as well. Problem: Hot August Nights is an area wide event, I now have to find a place to park my 40ft. motorhome that isn t outrageously expensive. If we re lucky, most attendees will stay in the Casinos and the RV parks won t be too crowded Worse comes to worse, my niece said we can park in front of her house, problem solved, just no hook-up. Pressing on from Reno, we are planning to go to the Black Hills in South Dakota. Erica has never been there to see Mt. Rushmore and Crazy Horse. It s only a few easy days drive from Reno. Problem 2: The Sturgis Motorcycle Festival is the second week of August. We ll get there just a few days before it starts. Many motorcyclist don t really care where they sleep. All the cheap hotels and RV parks could be fully booked. We can only hope my cousin, who lives there, can make room for us near his lodge or we can get a spot at the Fam Camp at Ellsworth Air Force base just west of Rapid City. If all else fails, there s always America s campground, a Walmart parking lot. After the Black Hills, our only plan is to eventually head home, possibly through Denver and then over the Rockies. Any suggestions are welcome and appreciated. See you Wednesday at Applebee s in Lancaster.

4 MEETING MINUTES MEETING MINUTES April 6, 2016 CALL TO ORDER: Larry called the meeting to order at 7:02 p.m. at the Sizzler Steakhouse in Palmdale. Guests were: Past member Deanna Gibson, Joe & Ludy Niquette, Joe Hamby APPROVAL OF MINUTES: March minutes were ed to the members. Motion to approve was passed. TREASURER S REPORT: Nelly presented the treasurer s report for March:! Deposits - $ ! Outflows - $348.25! Balance as of 3/13/16 - $ Motion to approve the report was passed. Claire presented bills for Sunshine. Motion to approve was passed. OLD BUSINESS: Larry thanked Peggy for organizing a great run. Larry stated Kemo wanted to remind the club that on 4/12/16 Olive Garden will give a portion of money spent to Palmdale High School s track team. Gambler s Classic is next weekend. Jim and Leona are attending. Laguna Seca is at the end of the month. NCCC: Howard stated that National is asking for input to choose one of three charities: Shriner s Hospital, St Jude s Research Hospital, or Lion s Club. The club voted St. Jude s Research Hospital. 5/1/16 Corvettes of Temecula Car Show 5/21/16 - Pomona Valley Vettes car show at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana to benefit MS Society. Cost is $30 which includes a T-Shirt. 5/21/16 Vapor Valley Vettes auto cross in Santa Maria 6/24-6/26/16 Big Bear Bash 7/22-7/27/16 NCCC Convention Omaha. 1/29/17 -There will be a 7 day cruise to the Mexican Riviera by Corvette Pirates. Cost is $759 per person aboard the Carnival Miracle departing from Long Beach. ACTIVITIES: Peggy presented activities she has been organizing and suggestions for others: o4/20/16 Dinner social at Applebee s in Lancaster by Target. o Peggy stated there were only 3 responses for the Veteran s car show. With the small response and the forecast for rainy weather, it was decided to cancel this event. She will check to see when the next one is. o 5/16 TBD o 6/11/16 Magic Castle Must be there by 5:30 p.m. Discussion regarding dress code which can be checked on the Magic Castle website. MISCELLANEOUS: Erica s friend has a 2014 C7 with 2600 miles for sale - $50,000. Wayne s friend has a 2009 with $38,000. Janie has a 1999 manual for $50.00 and a 2005 manual for $ Rod won the 50/50 raffle winning $ The meeting adjourned at 7:48 p.m.
