Briefly, here's the calendar of reunion events: Sunday, Sept. 23: 4:00 p.m. or later Check-in and Reunion Registration at the Annapolis Marriott Waterfront Hotel. Receive your reunion welcome kit. 6:00 p.m. Join classmates for cocktail reception (cash bar) and buffet. Monday, Sept. 24: 10:00 a.m. Walking tour of U.S. Naval Academy (10 min. walk from Marriott Hotel). Photo ID required and no penknives permitted on government property. 12:00 noon Lunch at Officers Club. Speaker: Betsy Hicks, Executive Director, MIT Student Financial Services. (For those who would find walking too challenging, taxis are available to the Officers Club.) 3:00-5:00 p.m. Harbor Cruise on "Woodwind" Schooner. A two-hour cruise departing from the dock of the Marriott Hotel. Includes complimentary soft drinks. Snacks available for nominal charge. Soft-soled shoes are required. Recommended: windbreaker, hat, sunscreen & camera. Reservations limited. Cannot accommodate wheelchairs; restrooms located below deck. Dinner on your own. Tuesday, Sept. 25: 9:30 a.m. Morning trolley tour of historic Annapolis (one hour) and guided tour of the William Paca House and gardens (45 mins.). Tour by air-conditioned trolley, with driver/guide giving short history of interesting locations. Tour ends at restored home of William Paca, signer of Declaration of Independence and Revolutionary-era governor of Maryland. Lunch on your own.

2 Tuesday, Sept. 25: (continued) 2:00 p.m. Guided tour and presentation at the Chesapeake Bay Foundation Phillip Merrill Environmental Center, first building to receive top US Building Council award for "green" design. The result is a low resourceconsuming, minimally polluting facility, an appropriate headquarters for an organization dedicated to protecting and restoring the Bay. Transportation provided. 6:30 p.m. Cocktail Hour followed by gala Class Banquet at the Annapolis Yacht Club with MIT speaker on Global Climate Change and music by the Naval Academy singers. (Cardinal blazers suggested.) One block walk from Marriott Hotel. Wednesday, Sept. 26: 8:00-10:00 a.m. Class Farewell Breakfast. (Marriott Hotel check-out by 11:00 a.m.) We want to make this reunion accessible for all, with appropriate transportation options. Trolleys or buses will be used for tours, however Annapolis is a great walking town and you can feel free to walk to selected events, or just stroll around and enjoy the maritime flavor. At the registration check-in desk in the Marriott, you will be given a welcome kit with name tags, tourist maps, brochures for additional Annapolis tours, and a list of nearby restaurants. Our class web site will publish ongoing lists beginning soon, indicating those classmates who have indicated their interest in attending, plus any updates to the planned activities. 5 IMPORTANT INFORMATION TRANSPORTATION TO ANNAPOLIS Annapolis is reached easily by plane, train, car or boat. (Yes, we do have someone coming by boat.) If arriving either by plane at Baltimore Washington International (BWI) airport, or by Amtrak at BWI station, (NOT Baltimore station) you are 30 miles from Annapolis. Transfer vans to Annapolis or taxis are available. No reservations required for SuperShuttle van service at $31/person, $10 each additional person in your party. Upon arrival by air, claim your luggage and proceed to SuperShuttle Ground Transportation counter located between baggage claim 1 & 2, or at baggage claim 10, and book your SuperShuttle to Annapolis with uniformed Guest Service Representative. If arriving by Amtrak, taxis are available, or take the free shuttle to BWI airport, and proceed to area between baggage claim 1 & 2 or at baggage claim 10 to book your SuperShuttle transportation. If you prefer, you can make arrangements for a rental car at BWI airport. Hotel check-in time is 4 p.m., but earlier arrivals will be accommodated at the Marriott as space becomes available. PARKING FACILITIES Parking at the Marriott Hotel underground lot is $19/day (with coming and going at no additional charge). An outdoor public parking lot next to the Marriott is $15/day, regardless of what time you enter the lot, and up to noon of the next day (paying each time you leave and re-enter the lot), but space is limited. DISABILITY NEEDS Trolley Tours: each air-conditioned trolley holds 23 persons, and requires two steps up from the street. Trolleys do not have wheelchair lifts. There will be no transportation provided from the Paca House back to the Marriott hotel. (a walk of about 3-5 blocks to City Dock area for lunch on your own, or 5-7 blocks to Marriott Hotel) Paca House & Garden Tour: Steps to reach main entrance (no handicapped entry). Stairs to second floor of house. (Wheelchair users could view gardens via side entry/ramp). Schooner Harbor Tour: Boarding is from rear deck of Marriott Hotel. Walkers/canes can be used to access the schooner, where seats are provided for all passengers, but schooner is not wheelchair accessible. Restrooms are located below deck, down a companionway stair. Soft-soled shoes required. Alternative Harbor Cruise: A motorized harbor boat tour (one hour) with gangplank that accommodates wheelchairs is available at City Dock for the general public at $10/person, a short taxi ride from the Marriott Hotel. EXTENDING YOUR VISIT For those who would like to extend their trip, there are world-class museums, art galleries, and monuments in Washington, DC. At Baltimore's Inner Harbor, there are many highlights, including an outstanding aquarium, tall ships, and the Maryland Science Center & Planetarium. A favorite destination is the historic town of St. Michaels on the Eastern Shore. All these are just one hour away.
